Chapter 4: a week passed
The night passed, and the morning sun once again painted the city with its golden hues. As I awoke on the couch, I recalled the unusual events of the previous day. Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, was now a guest in my small apartment, and an unspoken bond of understanding had formed.
Heading to the kitchen, I prepared a simple breakfast, contemplating the responsibilities that awaited me. Today marked the beginning of a different journey—one where ordinary life intertwined with the extraordinary.
After breakfast, I left a note for Wanda, explaining my absence and encouraging her to make herself at home. As I stepped out into the bustling city, my thoughts were a whirlwind of possibilities. How would Wanda adapt to this unfamiliar world?
The day unfolded with me attending to daily tasks, and as the clock neared 10 o'clock, I made my way back home. Opening the door, I was greeted by the sight of Wanda, seemingly more at ease, exploring the apartment.
And when she saw me eagerly came up to me somewhat expectantly.
'Well I kinda messed up but honestly I think it's rather a good thing.'
Last night before going to bed Wanda started crying again so I had come up to her and hugged her while patting her head and when I did that I used biokinesis to mix a cocktail of happy juices in her head from my touch.
'Although it's a bit scummy i couldn't just see wanda so down trodden, plus now she seeks for my head pats. I even got a damn skill.'
*Skill Head-Pats Lv5*
"Hey, how was your morning?" I asked, while Patting her head
She turned towards me, a faint smile on her face. "It's... different. But with you here it already feels better." As she says that she leans more into my hand affectionately.
"Thank you… for letting me stay here."
"No problem. And about our deal, if you're comfortable with it, you can start helping out around here. It's not a strict arrangement; just do what you can," I explained, wanting to ensure she felt a sense of purpose.
Wanda nodded, and over the next few days, she gradually became part of the routine. Cleaning, organising, and even trying her hand at cooking, she seemed determined to contribute, especially when she realised I would give her more head pats when I like the things she does. It became apparent that beyond her immense powers, she was just a person trying to find her way in a world that offered both challenges and opportunities.
As we spent more time together, Wanda opened up about her struggles and the loss that brought her to this point. It was a delicate balance of sharing and respecting her privacy, but it seemed like talking about it was a small step toward healing.
In the evenings, we'd sit in the living room, exchanging stories and finding common ground in the mundane aspects of life. It was an odd yet comforting companionship, born out of circumstance but evolving into something more.
One day, as we strolled through the city, Wanda observed, "This place is so different from what I know. But there's a beauty in its complexity."
I smiled, realising that despite her extraordinary abilities, Wanda was discovering the richness of ordinary existence. In helping her navigate this world, I found a sense of purpose as well.
As the weeks passed, our unlikely encounter evolved into a shared journey of these new dynamics of our entangled lives. Wanda, once a powerful Avenger, now embraced the nuances of being human. And I, an ordinary person, found my life intertwined with the Scarlet Witch in ways I could never have imagined.
And so, in the heart of New York, amidst the ebb and flow of life, a week passed rather quickly and it was time for me to go back to school.
"Wanda… I need to tell you something, I will be going to high school starting tomorrow."
'Yikes she looks panicked.'
After telling Wanda that I needed to go back to school she looked dead in her eyes and quickly scurried over to me.
"can't you not go to school?"
It was selfish and she knew it, but she couldn't help it. Over the last week Matthew had been her sole support of getting through life and she couldn't fathom being away from him after a week with him especially those god damn head pats they were just so damn addicting and it felt so good.
Wanda shuddered in bliss as she remembered those head pats.
I looked at her and said "I need to finish highschool so I can legally get a matric so I can go to college. You know that."
She looked really cute when she was downtrodden but it is what it is.
She then took my hand and placed it on her head with pouty teary eyes.
"then you have to show me more attention."
'omg she is so cute but damn i think there is too much happy juice when i pat her, i mean she is beautiful but i don't know you know.'
'(Wanda) what the hell am i saying! Wah wha wha.. we just met a week ago and i'm acting like a clingy girlfriend, for god's sakes wande you had children and a husband and now look at you!'
"well wanda i just wanted you to know since i have school you can maybe try find yourself a job because i was able to get you an identity."
Her eyes shone and then she leaped at me thanking me.
'i can understand i mean she has practically been looking indoors for a week and now she can freely go out.'
"so goodnight wanda"
As I was heading to the couch Wanda grabbed my arm and looked at me before saying.
"you can use your bed i don't mind…"
I wasn't some dense shounen protag so I didn't mind.
"You sure? Won't it make you uncomfortable having an unknown man in the same bed?"
"no, you're not unknown and I would feel safer."
'is that a blush? Well damn, I ain't saying no.'
And we headed for the bed when she was wearing short pyjamas and one of my oversize white time shirts. I was just joking.
After getting in for a while I could feel Wanda slowly coming closer to me and everything she did it would shake the bed so I just pulled her to my chest, she froze but then slowly melted into my embrace as we went off to lala land.
