Chapter 1 : Reborn

Something is wrong; something is very wrong with this world!

In 2009, at the Sunflower Children's Welfare Home, eight-year-old Kamigawa Genichi looked at the welfare home shrouded in darkness with his childish face. The familiar place now seemed unusually strange.

All the children and adults in the welfare home had disappeared at this moment. Under the strange darkness, the building of the welfare home in his eyes seemed... a little strange?

...

For a moment, Kamigawa Genichi recalled his simple yet complicated experiences in this life. In his previous life, he was just an ordinary person on earth. Still, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness at a young age and eventually passed.

When he regained consciousness, he became a young child in Japan. He had almost no memory of his parents in his head, and he had been in this orphanage as long as he could remember.

Perhaps because of his rebirth, his past life was more like a clear dream, very real but separated by a boundary between reality and illusion. He also learned some knowledge about this world from the media he could access. He found that this world was completely different from his past life!

Although there were many similarities, they were completely different worlds. Could this be the so-called parallel world?

The first and most important proof is that Kamigawa Genichi realised he had "superpowers"!

He called this thing 'telekinesis' or any other name. Its primary function was to strengthen himself, which enabled him, a young child, to do many incredible things.

Genichi usually does not use his "superpowers" too much to prevent excessive use, which may cause accidents to his childish body. After all, he is just a child, and his body has not yet fully developed.

What if this "superpower" hasn't developed yet and is overused, which affects his body? Of course, most of this is just his imagination; no one can teach him through this.

Life in the orphanage was quiet and peaceful, and there was no need to use superpowers, so he only used them sometimes. Still, even so, he became the 'boss' in the orphanage.

This telekinesis usually appeared light blue, and Genichi could occasionally move at a speed close to teleportation. Unfortunately, there was something odd every time he used this power, so he didn't dare to use it again.

When he moved, everything around him seemed to stop at that moment, which reminded him of the various super-speed powers he had seen before. This excited him for a long time at first.

The second evidence is that there are "ghosts" in this world!

Genichi believed that he was not the only one with the superpower. There should be other people with superpowers in this world, but they are unknown to ordinary people, just like those in movies and novels.

At first, He didn't think there would be such a thing as "ghosts" in this world.

Yet Genichi has seen ghosts at least five or six times in the past few years. However, unlike the ghosts he knew in his previous life, the ghosts he saw were strange in shape and did not resemble Miss Sadako or Aunt Kayako.

They seem weak, as if other people cannot see them. For example, a couple who came to the welfare home to adopt a child had a strange thing that looked like an enlarged version of a mosquito hidden next to them.

Of course, Genichi only called that thing a "mosquito" based on its wings resembling hands, mouthparts as sharp as needles, and general shape.

At that time, Genichi saw this thing from afar. He was shocked that no children or adults around him could see that thing. Could it be that only people with superpowers could see it?

...

And now, Genichi found he might have finally met a more terrifying ghost. After all, even the surroundings had been transformed by it. Emotions such as annoyance, fear, and anger surged into his heart.

"Why did this happen to me when I was still weak? I haven't grown up yet! No, I can't give up! I was finally reborn and had superpowers. I can't die like this!"

Genichi worked hard to move the "telekinesis" in his body, allowing his body to break through common sense and exert extraordinary powers, whether in speed or strength.

Now, Genichi can even easily defeat several adult men. In these strange circumstances, he can only be highly alert and use all his strength to find a way to survive.

"Yes, I see. Don't forget the reward we agreed on. This is a confirmed first-grade, suspected, special-grade cursed fetus. I'll let you know if anything happens. Satoru, that's all."

A blue-haired beauty with a nice figure stood not far from the Sunflower Welfare Home. The huge curse energy and ominous aura intertwined and floated in her eyes, but the blue-haired beauty showed no fear or other expressions. Instead, she looked like she saw something she loved.

"Emerge from the darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure."

As the woman chanted the spell, a grey-black thing shaped like water waves or a curtain quickly expanded from a point in the sky and covered the entire welfare home. Then, the blue-haired beauty walked into it and disappeared.

Five minutes ago, he encountered the first "ghost," a combination of a dog and a young human, and rushed towards him crying.

After the initial panic, he tried to use his "telekinesis" to strengthen his body and attack the ghost. The effect was unexpectedly good. He killed the little thing with a few punches, and the scene turned into a child beating a deformed little monster.

The road leading to the outside world had disappeared. Genichi tried to find an exit, but no matter how far he walked, he could not leave the welfare home.

It was like he was trapped in a ghost wall and always found himself back again. So, he could only try to go inside to see if he could kill the ghost or find another way out.

Then he encounters that little thing. After killing the first one, Genichi encountered many more on the way ahead. They all looked different but had one thing in common: They looked like parts of a young child.

"It's broken."

These two words popped into his mind as Genichi looked at the strange-looking young ghost gradually disappearing on the ground.

Genichi wondered if the ghosts were born from the resentment of children. Isn't that what is written in movies and novels?

Although these little ghosts are still weird, they are somewhat similar to the ghosts in his memory. Although he was scared when he first saw them, he slowly lost his fear of them after quickly solving them.

After all, when you have superpowers to destroy ghosts, these things don't seem so scary.

"Woo woo…"

Genichi was walking into the welfare home's staff dormitory when he suddenly heard a faint cry from a child. Always on guard, his first response was that he had met a ghost again. However, he soon found out that he was wrong.

In front of a cabinet, Genichi confirmed that the erratic sobbing sound came from inside. This sound seemed a little different from those ghosts. Could there be survivors?

Thinking of this, Genichi prepared to fight back and carefully opened the cabinet's door. Then a scream rang out. Two small figures inside were huddled together and trembling. In other words, the people hiding in the cabinet were not ghosts but two unlucky children trapped there like him.

"Hey! Stop crying. Do you want to attract ghosts?"

After hearing Genichi's words, the two little ones realized that it was not those horrible things that found them. It sounded very familiar, so they stopped crying.

"Gen...Genichi?"

Genichi looked at the two little ones, a boy and a girl. He didn't have much impression of the boy, but he did have some impression of the little girl.

She should be called Kumiko. The couple that visited last time wanted to adopt her. Unfortunately, she had a birthmark on her left cheek, so she was not successfully adopted in the end.

It was natural that they all knew Genichi. Although this welfare home was alright, in his opinion, the staff were completely affectionate. There were quite a few children here, and many things could be taken care of.

Because of his superpowers, Genichi became the most powerful child in the welfare home. He beat up a group of small groups that were trying to bully him. Naturally, he became recognised among the children.

For a long time, Genichi had not been adopted because of his own wishes. After all, how could a cute and intelligent child with an excellent appearance, even at a young age, not be adopted? It was just that he felt that he could not integrate into a family.

Initially, the kind and gentle woman, the director, planned to adopt Genichi herself or let her family adopt him and then send him to school. The welfare home could only teach him until he graduated from elementary school.

There were children like this. Some of them entered society with the support of the welfare homes and directors. Many of them would come back to reciprocate the favour to the welfare home, and some even came back to work here.

Of course, this is another story.

After calming the two children, Genichi tried to ask them for some information. Still, they were also very confused, and their words were confusing because of fear and panic.

After sorting out the situation, Genichi found no valuable information. They had no idea how they had ended up here. After seeing the roaming monsters from afar, they hid in the cabinet.

Not long after the interaction here, a rapid noise suddenly sounded not far away. Genichi's expression changed, and he quickly asked the two nervous children to hide in the closet.

Since they have been hiding in the closet without being discovered, it is at least safer to hide here than to follow Genichi. After all, although he could eliminate those little ghosts, it was still tricky for Genichi to protect two children at the same time.

After the two of them had hidden, Genichi heard the noise getting closer, quickly got up, and ran to the other side. His footsteps were very noticeable in the empty corridor.

Soon, strange cries and the sound of limbs walking on the ground came towards him. This place was relatively narrow, and judging from the sounds, there were probably a lot of ghosts coming. Genichi needed to find a safe area to fight.
