"Hey... what's going to hap-?" Xiroel said before stopping to hear some odd noises outside.
Rargh...!
He proceeded to look outside and what he saw was truly terrifying. The night was dark, with the moon rising to the sky, shining upon this world. It was an eerie atmosphere with the crickets making noises which was suddenly broken by the sound of something unknown.
Suddenly, a horde of unknown creature emerged out of the grounds, walking slowly towards where Xiroel is.
"There they are, the monsters that lurks beyond... you should be careful,"
"W-what are those?! They look extremely obscure! I feel like vomiting!"
With skins falling off their bodies, their face and bloods dripping from the wounds that are present on their body. The zombies came in a horde, there are zombies that are big, there are small ones too.
Some have claws and also bigger, they look around 170 cm in height, but the bigger ones easily exceeds 190 cm. But the one with claws are even terrifying. Those zombies were lurking outside Xiroel's house.
"Zombies?! There are so many of them out there! What if they get in?!"
"They won't be able to come inside, those doors have been reinforced by the system and cannot be destroyed unless the player decided to do so, therefore we are safe here for now,"
And then, Xiroel looked to the sky through a gap that he left so that he can look out and what he saw was even more petrifying. There were eyes flying around in the sky!
"Oh... god! How am I supposed to survive?! The night will be so long! I can't hope to survive!"
Then, he noticed that the eye were looking at him, staring from afar. The pupil of the eyes turned red and immediately flew towards the house, aiming at Xiroel.
"Arghhhh!!" he screamed.
However, as it was reaching the gap, Xiroel realized that the eye doesn't fit the gap. Xiroel was breathing heavily, panicking as he does not know what to do against those hordes of zombies.
"You should stay indoors at night. It is very dangerous to be wandering around in the dark," the guide said.
"I wouldn't even be getting outside any time soon! But what if they break in?!"
Xiroel heard smashing on the doors continuously which made him even more terrified.
"Am I going to die here?!"
"Adventurer, please look carefully into your inventory,"
"My inventory? Why? Inventory!"
The inventory interface showed up and Xiroel looked around. He found that to the right of the interface, there were five red hearts.
"What is that?"
"That is your health bar,"
"Health bar?!"
"Yes, so you can take a few hits before you actually lose your life. You should be aware, that falling from a high place will still get you killed, so be careful,"
Xiroel's eyes widened as he looked at his health.
"For now, let's just wait until morning comes again,"
Xiroel nodded at that suggestion.
The experience was scarier than anything that Xiroel has ever experienced before, to think that zombies would exist in a place like this.
There were flying eyes and some of those eyes were actually different in colors and some of them have dilated eyes. It was truly a sight to be terrified of. But still, there are also things such as a zombie with slimes on their head which seems ridiculous.
The night passed but Xiroel couldn't sleep because of the noise that those zombies made while Andrew just slept at the chair that was placed in the house.
When morning came, the zombies and eyes retreated into who knows where and the number of them seems to be gradually decreasing as time goes.
After a while, the number of zombies has completely become none. It was only slimes that came hopping around. Butterflies, bunnies and squirrels were wandering around. Birds can be seen flying and chirping. Morning was nice when compared to the night where the dead rises.
"Since you have only a small shortsword to help you defend yourself, why not craft some sword? And get some stones while you're at that?"
"Uhhh..." Xiroel groaned as he wakes up with red eyes due to lack of sleep.
"..." Andrew just remained silent.
Xiroel went out and walked around for a while before stumbling upon a small river which was quite deep. He went there to wash his face. When he was washing his face, he heard splashing from in front of him.
Splash!
It was a slime! It was hopping just fine above the surface of water!
"H-hey! It's able to walk even on water?!"
Xiroel equipped his shortsword, ready to defend himself.
As the green slime approached him, he pulled out the shortsword and stabbed the slime several times. The green slime burst and dropped some gels and copper coins.
Xiroel looked at his inventory again.
"Hmmm? The copper coins have decreased? What happened?"
He looked around his inventory surface and realized that his copper coins have decreased.
"Oh? A 2 silver coins?"
"If you collected 99 copper coins, the coins will be converted to 1 silver coin through the system,"
"Aghhh! What the heck?! Stop scaring me like that!"
"... You should start crafting some more equipment,"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever!"
Xiroel went back inside the house and did some crafting on the work bench.
"Let's see... a Wooden Sword?"
-Wooden Sword:
~Wood (7)
"Well, I might as well craft this, it should be better in range and I can safely kill monsters from a safe distance. Let's see what else we have,"
After quite a while, Xiroel finally decided on what he wants to craft.
"There we go, these should be things that I need. I need some Wood Armor, Wooden Sword and the Bow. Let's do this!"
>Wood Helmet
~Wood (20)
>Wood Breastplate
~Wood (30)
>Wood Greaves
~Wood (25)
>Wooden Sword
~Wood (7)
>Wooden Bow
~Wood (10)
"I should have enough woods to craft these items..."
After some time of crafting the equipment he needed, about 3 hours have passed. He proceeded to examine the items that he crafted.
"Alright, let me see..."
[Nimble Wooden Sword]
[Wood Helmet]
[Wood Breasplate]
[Wood Greaves]
[Frenzying Wooden Bow]
"Ohh! Some modifiers have been applied! I should check them out!"
>Nimble Wooden Sword
>Damage: 7
>Knockback: 4
>Critical chance: 4%
>Rarity: Blue
+5% speed
"A blue rarity?! That should be good right?"
>Wood Helmet
>Defense: 1
>Rarity: White
>Wood Breasplate
>Defense: 1
>Rarity: White
>Wood Greaves
>Defense: 0
>Rarity: White
"Hmmm... it seems that modifiers doesn't apply to armor,"
>Frenzying Wooden Bow
>Damage: 4
>Knockback: 0
>Critical chance: 4%
>Rarity: White
-15% damage
+15% speed
"What?! A minus in damage but a plus in the speed? Hmm... I don't think that's good. Sacrificing damage for speed, well whatever. How do I craft an arrow? Hey Andrew, you know how I can craft arrows?"
"You can gather some stones and craft those arrows,"
"Stones... alright,"
Xiroel went out of the house but he made sure to be careful. He walked around for a while before starting to dig underground. After digging for quite a while, he stumbled upon a deposit of stones which he proceeded to mine using his pickaxe.
He mined the stones and managed to gather quite the amount of the stones.
[Stone=112]
"That should be enough..."
Xiroel went back to the house and started to craft some arrows. He also found the recipe to craft a furnace which is by using some stones and torches.
>Wooden Arrow (25):
~Stone (1)
~Wood (1)
"For now, I'll craft 200 arrows, that should be enough,"
After a while, he had accumulated a total of 200 wooden arrows.
>Wooden Arrow
>Damage: 5
>Rarity: White
"Even the arrow itself has damage? I'll see what the difference is between the bow damage and arrow damage later. I'll equip the armor for now,"
Xiroel took the wood armor and put them on.
"Woah! It's quite light considering it being made from wood! Let me check the total defense,"
>Total Defense: 4
Equipment:
Helmet: Wood Helmet/ Defense: 1
Shirt: Wood Breastplate/ Defense: 1
Pants: Wood Greaves/ Defense: 0
Armor set bonus: 1
"An armor set bonus?"
"That's a bonus you get if you equip certain set of armor, sometimes it will give you quite an advantage in this game, so be sure to equip a complete set if you want to get the bonus," the guide said.
"Okay, I see,"
Xiroel also tried swinging the wooden sword.
"Woah! It's so light!"
Hupp!
He slashed it around a few more times before being satisfied.
"Yeah, this can definitely help me defend against those zombies!"
Xiroel continued trying the sword by hunting some slimes and accumulated quite a lot of gels.
Every time he hit the slime the damage output is shown. The sword dealt somewhere around 7 to 10 damage. The slime dies after a few slash from Xiroel's sword.
"Hunting those slimes are way easier now! They can't even get close to me because they are thrown away by how strong the sword is!"
After gathering some more woods, it is finally getting darker.
"Adventurer, get inside, it's getting darker!"
"You go on ahead inside, I need to try something,"
Honestly, the guide was actually feeling happy seeing how quick the adventurer is to adapt to the situation despite being here for only a single day.
"I'll use the bow and arrows to get the flying eyes and just use my sword to hunt those zombies,"
After a while, the night falls on the world of Terraria once again. And as expected, zombies were coming from all around the house.
"Alright, let's see what I can do!"
3 zombies were in sight, 2 normal ones and 1 big one.
Xiroel ran towards the zombies and slashed his sword.
Swish, swish!
Xiroel slashed the sword a couple of times and 1 of them died. Their corpse didn't stay there but disintegrated instead and dropped some copper coins.
He leapt up and jumped behind the other zombies and stabbed it in the back before slashing it's torso. Another one of the zombies were killed and the same things dropped.
He ran and slashed the big one from the front before jumping behind him and stabbing him, slashing his head. However, the big one didn't fall so easily. The zombie raised its arms and smashed them on Xiroel's shoulder. Xiroel fell to the ground and was thrown back.
"Ackk!" he exclaimed in pain.
He looked at his health bar and 10 health were lost after taking only 1 hit from the big one! Xiroel stood back up and raised his sword again. He dodged the zombie's attack several times and slashed the zombies back.
Slashes after slashes and dodges after dodges, the big one finally died and it dropped something weird.
[Shackle]
"A shackle? What's that? I better ask the guide about it later..."
Then, he took out his bow and arrows and proceeded to aim at the floating eyes in the sky. When the eyes noticed the presence of Xiroel, they rushed towards him.
Xiroel focused his aim and shot at one of those eyes. The arrow traveled right at what was called as the demon eyes. However, the demon eyes didn't die after 1 shot but was pushed away instead, which surprises Xiroel. But he quickly realized that he can't die after 1 shot either, so it doesn't make any difference.
Xiroel took an arrow again and shot at the demon eye. However, it was hard to shoot when the demon eyes are moving so he missed the shot.
The demon eye that was rushing towards him, reached Xiroel and when it hits his body, he took some damage and was knocked back. He realized that the demon eyes were big and the strength of it were unreal. To think that he would even take some damage.
He shot the arrows again and this time, he didn't miss any shots. Shooting the demon eyes for another 6 or 7 times does the job, and it was dead. But then, those things will keep coming in the night, so it wouldn't be easy.
4 zombies came again and 2 demon eyes were all rushing at him.
"Oh damn! This won't be easy! I should get back to the house now!"
One of the demon eyes were already rushing towards Xiroel but he managed to dodge to oncoming attacks. What he didn't realize was that, he was dodging attacks left and right as if he has done those things before. When he finally realized those things, he retaliated against those monsters.
What's easy is that all those zombies are clumped up together, so slashing them together knocks all them back also together. The big ones aren't knocked back that much when compared to the small ones and they can take quite a few more hits before dying.
He dodged the smashing attacks from the big ones and slashed all of them together, knocking them away. He quickly changed to his bow and arrows and and shot at the 2 of the demon eyes. He took quite a while with those shots because he keeps missing some of them. In the end, he managed to clear those 2 demon eyes first and then he killed the zombies.
It wasn't done because of course, they kept coming. There are the slime zombies which drops some gels when killed. The demon eyes dropped some lens which he think might help craft some important items or equipment, but I still should ask the guide about it.
What he accumulated was quite a lot after hunting some more zombies and demon eyes.
[Warding Shackles]
[Shackles]
[Silver Coins=20]
[Lens=4]
[Gels=12]
"Hmmm... the 'warding' must be one of the modifiers. But... what is this thing? It doesn't look like a weapon or armor either, I'll ask the guide about this item later..."
"Let's get back home for now,"
After he reached home, Xiroel rested well while sleeping just on the floor. And after that, the next morning came to display itself.
