It's Either You Or No One

When jasmine checked back at the wall clock, it's already past eight. She's been trying to reach her granddaughters since an hour plus, but yet none of them picked up the calls. Infact, they turned off their phones, which made jasmine became more worried. Her hair by now is now a total mess like she was struck by an electric. Hmm, yeah. Maybe electrocuted. Frustration has a lot to do with that. I guess. She grabbed the second iPhone 14 which her son, Justin, had bought for her few weeks ago before leaving for L.A, from the glass center table. At once within a blink of an eye, she began dialing her son's number.

Bernard's place

"Yes mom, I just returned from work." Bernard informed his mother on the phone as he made his way towards the kitchen.

"Oh dear, you must be tired and very hungry. Go on, have a shower and eat something, okay?"

"Yeah, that's what I'm about to do." He stated. Taking a container out of the refrigerator, he placed it into the microwave oven. "How did your day go? Have you eaten yet?"

Mabelle gladly nodded, "Of course. How was studies today?"

Walking out of the kitchen, "Well...it was fine. We had couple of weeks left to study before the exam." Bernard answered.

"Hmm, it's alright." Pausing for a while, Mabelle said, "Can't wait to see you again, my son. I've missed you like a million times."

Slumping on the couch, Bernard smiled, "Me too mom. I'm desperately in need of seeing your face not on video calls but personally."

His words almost made her tear up. She brittle and wiped the incoming tears off her eyelids. She missed her only son very much and she can't wait to hug him.

Bernard noticed her silence for seconds, his brows furrowed, "Mom, are you okay? Are you there?" He asked worriedly.

"Yes dear, I'm here." She sighed. "Take care of yourself, okay? And stay away from bad guys and rich girls who only want to use you for themselves, alright?"

Bernard rolled his eyes and answered, "Yes mom." He wanted to talk to her about Britney and here she's chiding him for having rich girls as friends.

After Mabelle hung up, Bernard quickly chimed into his inbox. He had several notifications and they were all from Britney.

He arc his head on the couch's headrest and slumped his hand against his eyes as he groaned. Oh great, he already missed her calls and messages. Though it was hours ago since she texted and he hadn't replied.

He glance at his watch, it's almost eight. He sighed. She must be asleep by now. He don't want to disturb her. He tossed his phone aside and left to check the container in the microwave oven.

George Washington University

From a distance

"Seriously, you still refuse to tell Princeton and I why you said that." Kingston stated while crossing his arms.

Winston frowned and inquire, "Said what?"

"Did something happened on my absence and I'm unaware about it?" Nicholas asked. He is totally lost in the conversation.

Princeton rolled his eyes.

"Since you've forgotten so soon, I'll remind you." Kingston smirked. "When you complimented a girl and called her beautiful?"

Billy and Nicholas raised their brows in amusement. They turned their gaze towards Winston.

"You've never complimented a woman--wait not even Whitney and Britney dresses so good one day and you call them beautiful, so what's that weird thing that pushed your instinct so loud?"

Winston took a deep breath and kept quiet without uttering a single sound. How impossible is it for him to explain his reasons. If only someone could read people's mind, he would have instructed them to read his mind rather than struggling with his spirit and body just for an explanation.

Knowing that he has nothing to say, Billy laughed and patted his shoulder, "Oh man, you're just a crazy jerk."

"And a comedian." Princeton added.

"It's still very unreal to me since yesterday. I doubt my ass that it wasn't Winston speaking." Kingston sighed. How unreal was the whole scenario at the rooftop.

Getting fed up of the indistinct mockery, Winston frowned, "Okay that's it, enough please."

"Sometimes you need to check your past life and how you've lived back then before you utter a word in the present." Princeton frowned. "Like seriously, what are your reasons of calling her beautiful? Do you like her?"

"Oh please don't say yes but no." Kingston mumbled blandly. Not that he hates Stacey but dating a woman is not just their thing. And now he has begin to wonder if his brother has fallen victim of something.

"Whoa, speaking of the 'She is beautiful' Girl," Princeton pointed towards someone at a distance, "There she is. I think her class just ended."

Instantly, the others turned their gaze towards the direction Princeton was pointing at.

"Where? Who?" Billy asked. Still stretching and turning his neck around to find who's the actually person.

"Over there. She's on blue blouse and white jean. She's talking with someone beside the flowerpot." Princeton explained.

Winston could feel his heart beating very fast. Why is he so nervous all of a sudden? Is not like they were actually standing beside each other. She's standing far away from him. Though she can't see him but he can.

"Wow, she's really beautiful." Nicholas gasped.

Billy raised an eyebrow and slowly shook his head in agreement with what Nicholas just said. "Precisely, she is. Now I understood why it's difficult for Winston to explain his reasons."

Kingston sighed and helplessly shook his head for his naughty friends who are now talking hopelessly like his brother. He looked at Winston. He has already started fixing his hair, t-shirt's collar and wrist.

Kingston frowned quizzically, "Wait a minute, where are you heading?" Without waiting for his answer, he quickly added, "Don't tell me, you're-"

"How do I look? Cool or awkward? Please rate me, I don't wanna look bad in front of her." Winston spoke hastily. He is in a rush. This is an opportunity for him to approach her. If Britney comes out of the building and approach her first, that's means his chances of speaking with her will be diminished.

His cousins and brothers stare at him strangely. Like seriously, what has come over this guy? Is he really going there to speak with her? And if yes then what is he going to say?

Seeing that they're not in the right senses to give reply to his question, Winston ignored them and left.

He shouldn't have asked them about his outlook anyway. Just look at the way they're staring at him like he has lost his mind or something? Well maybe he has and there is a positive reason behind it.
