Z's POV
It has been over 10 minutes, and I am still waiting. I checked my phone to see if there were any updates and sent a message to J and Ethan saying that I might be coming back late.
I put my phone back in my pocket, and just as I did, I saw her walking towards me. I can almost hear the angels sing.
I smiled at her and said, "Wow, I—I never thought that angels would go down to earth for lunch."
I swear she blushed at the comment and said, "Well, ain't there already one here waiting?"
I scoffed, "I'm nowhere near an angel. I'm the devil incarnate, and we will take over the earth and heaven." My lord, was I ever this cringe?
"Then that's just perfect. I love a good mix of good and bad." She smirked as she sat down in front of me.
"They're about to take the food out; I'm so sorry for the delay. There were just a lot of orders coming in." She fretted. She might have seen me looking at my watch earlier.
"There's no need to apologize. I was actually counting the minutes you were gone, and yeah, just waiting for you to return." I told her though I wish it didn't take her that long.
"Well, sorry to keep you waiting, I guess." She said tucking her hair behind her ears. She blushed again, which I find really cute.
She's really a fine woman. Attractive. Cute and adorable may be appropriate for children, but this girl is both, but so alluring and hot I can't explain it. Her brows don't seem to be trimmed and look natural. Her green eyes look so pure. Her nose is pointed and just the right size, resting above a pair of sensual lips, and, dear Lord, those lips... make me want to reach across and claim it for myself. I cursed myself for thinking such things.
I am even amusing myself right now. I don't usually talk to people I don't know, especially strangers I don't give a shite about, but this girl just makes me want to talk to her.
Well, she did talk to me first to take my order, but still, this is new to me. With each conversation we have, I begin to feel more at ease with her.
"Please pardon my rudeness, but I don't think I asked you your name yet."
She looked at me with narrow eyes, a hint of a smile hiding behind those playful pouts.
I tried to follow up by saying, "I was so distracted by your beauty that I failed to ask for your name!" I said it in a panic. "I bet it's Angel, ain't that right?"
She smiled again and extended her hand to me for a handshake, saying, "You can stop it with the flirting. I'm Kaye! Nice to meet you."
I felt a sudden spark as our fingertips met. Although feeling a little shy, I firmly shook her hand, and without letting go I asked "K, as in K, letter K?"
It is a good thing I am sitting down because I can feel my legs weaken as she grips my hand tightly and squeezes it. "No, it's Kaye, K-A-Y-E."
I grin and say, "I see. It's nice to finally meet you. You can call me Z. Just the letter."
We stared at each other for a while, still holding each other's hands. No one seems to want to let go, but the food came, making us break contact. I thank the waiter as he looks at me suspiciously.
The food smells delicious. I almost forgot about my hunger because I am drooling now just by looking at the food on my plate. "Let's eat!" I heard her say that, so I went ahead and picked up the knife and fork to start eating.
Before I did, I glanced at Kaye, and I felt embarrassed by the way she was looking at me expectantly, waiting for my reaction.
"Don't mind me! Go ahead. My older sister, the chef, was the one who prepared this." She said it proudly.
I took a bite of the fish and gave it a satisfied look.
"It's good!" I exclaimed.
"Phew, I thought you wouldn't like it. I'm glad you did." She smirked and wrinkled her nose.
'And you're cute,' I thought to myself as I munched on my chips.
I have never done this with a stranger before, but this was just so filling. I am enjoying every second of it.
Halfway through the meal, she suddenly asks me, "Were you always this flirty around girls?"
I almost choked on my food. She hands me the freshly squeezed orange juice as she reminds me, "Be careful now."
I composed myself yet again and denied it with all my heart. "No, they are usually the ones flirting with me, but I seldom flirt back."
"Oh, so you do?" She eyed me.
'Why is this girl interrogating me like she's my wife, and why the f*ck am I answering as she caught me red-handed?' I smacked myself in the back of my mind.
I sit straight. "I'm just hanging out with you as a frie–*cough* as an acquaintance but I promise I would never flirt with a high school student, so you're safe."
Kaye's eyes twitched upon hearing the acquaintance part, "But would you, a college student?" She taunted me.
"Why, of course I would," I said proudly. 'And I am sure as hell that I'll be waiting till you become a college student' I almost added.
She laughed once again. I'm not going to get used to her laughing, am I?'
"Then it was nice knowing you. It's good to know that I am not safe around you." She said it casually as she ate with her fork.
I stopped for a moment to take in what she had said, and I almost said loudly, "Y-you're a college student?!"
"Technically, no, I was, though. I graduated a few months ago, but I feel like I'm still one." She said it nonchalantly.
"I guess congratulations are in order." I nodded to myself, slowly looking down at my plate. I just freaking destroyed myself, didn't I?
"Hey, I'm trippin'. No need to look so down. You don't look dangerous, so you can flirt with me." She winked once again.
'Oh, I'm so dangerous I could just eat you up—hold it right there self'
"I'll remember that," I smirked and winked back. And there goes the blush. Why is this girl blushing so much? We're not in some high school drama, for f*cks sake!
