Reset

You know the drill by now. 30 year old neet. Truck. Iseakaied. This is the story of Hause.

"Where am I?"

"The beginning and the end."

Hause looks up. A beautiful goddess. Her wings stretched apart as she laid her hands forward. Truly a majestic sight to behold. The backdrop was no less impressive. Golden pillars seem to go on forever.

"It has been tough. You can rest easy now."

Tough? Hause didn't think his life was tough. It was tediously empty. He worked everyday, ate and sleep. He had no friends and his hobby is simply watching TV.

There wasn't anything bad about his life. But there wasn't anything good either. It felt like he was stuck in a movie. An incredibly boring movie. A movie he could not turn off.

Truth is, he secretly wanted to die. Switch off the movie. When he saw his chance to save someone. He immediately rushed in. A chance to die a hero. What better way to go out?

Hands still outstretched, a little burrow formed on her brow. Her voice carries a tinge of annoyance.

"Hello?"

"Ah sorry, lost in thought." I reached out for her hand.

"Don't worry, that happens very often, when people begins to examine their life in earnest."

"So that's it? I'm dead? What happens now?" We walked along the endless corridor.

"Yes. You are going to be reincarnated."

"I see."

Silence follows. The silence was deafening due to the lack of background noise.

"But why am I here? To go through my life's regrets? Why not reincarnate me straight away?" I pondered aloud.

She came to a halt.

"I have a request for you."

"A world is facing imminent destruction and is in need of a hero. Would you like to be reincarnated there? You can get to keep your memories that way." She continued.

Isekai. I have never longed to be a hero. But it does sound fun.

"Does it have to be me?"

"No, anyone will do, actually."

Awkward silence.

I waited for her to continue.

"To aid you in your quest, you can request a special ability. Strength, magic powers, wealth or intelligence."

"Reset" I blurted out.

"What?"

"I don't know what came over me. It just came out. Might be due to me wanting to reset my life."

"I see, I can grant you that power. Do you want that?"

I nodded. It was the right thing to do. I am very sure of it. How and why, I have no idea.

"Very well then. I shall grant you the power of [Reset]."

A sigil formed from her hands and flew to my chest. It was a burning sensation which subsided quickly.

"May you be victorious."

An enveloping glow starts to shine. It grew brighter and brighter until all was white.
