For Altair, the situation with Lili was nothing more than a small incident. By the next day, he had already forgotten about her. Even if someone tried to investigate, they wouldn't find anything because Altair had completely destroyed the evidence... he had burned the body, and was even prepared to scatter the ashes.
"What... happened last night?"
In the old, decrepit church, Saeko couldn't help but ask Altair, who was standing beside her, as she looked at the charred ruins before them.
"After we returned last night, a few guys tried to rob and kill, but I took care of them. Then I cleaned up a bit."
Altair didn't bother to hide anything. Concealing the truth wasn't good for her. As a swordswoman, Saeko's growth would be accompanied by bloodshed and killing. It was better to tell her sooner.
"This world is just like those worlds of heroes fighting dragons that you had in your previous world. So, aside from the people you absolutely trust, you need to be cautious of everyone else."
"I understand."
"Does this world feel different from what you imagined?"
"Yes, it's quite different from what I expected."
Saeko nodded. Like most people, they imagined adventurer stories and such when they thought of another world. So generally, they thought it would be pretty nice. But in reality, this world was dark like this because ordinary people had very few rights. Even if you became a noble, it wasn't much better, as there were still differences between nobles.
"But I don't regret it. I know that the world has never been perfect. Every world has its dark side, but what's more important is that we find the beauty in it ourselves."
Saeko smiled.
"Besides, I made the decision to come to this world with you, Altair-kun. That's enough, isn't it?"
"You're right. I brought you to this world, so naturally, I'll also be responsible for ensuring that you're happy and joyful here."
Seeing that Saeko didn't seem to have any emotional burden, Altair was pleased.
"However, this church is completely ruined."
Looking up at the church, Altair noticed how dilapidated it had been even before. Last night, it was blown up by landmines, then he tore down many of the wooden boards for firewood, and finally, he personally cleaned up the debris. Now the place was covered in pitch-black soot and couldn't hold up any longer.
"Since we don't need to go to the dungeon today, let's take the chance to find a new location for our base."
"What? Altair-kun, you're looking for a new Familia base?"
As soon as the topic of a new Familia base came up, Hestia immediately jumped out, leaping onto Altair's back, wrapping her arms around his neck with a curious expression.
"Yes, this place is just too remote. Let's find a place closer to the central area for our Familia base. Or, Hestia, you could also see if any of your friends have a base near the center, and we could set up our Familia near them."
"Yay! I've wanted to move our base for a while now! But Altair-kun, do we have enough money?"
"We do. And even if we don't, selling some of the things we just acquired should cover it. Plus, we can always rent a place first and buy it when we have enough money."
"That's great! If we're near the central area, then Takemikazuchi Familia is pretty close by. I have a good relationship with Take-chan, and Miach-chan seems to be near Take-chan too. If possible, it would be awesome if our Familia bases were all close together!"
Takemikazuchi was one of Hestia's former companions at the potato puff shop, and the God War from the Shinto pantheon or the Far East here. And Miach, the Head of the Miach Familia was the God of Medicine who specialized in medicine. Although both gods had fallen on hard times, Takemikazuchi had a struggling Familia with no high-level adventurers, and Miach Familia had fallen into debt after one of its members lost an arm and needed an expensive prosthetic, leading other members to flee.
These two gods, much like Hestia, were poor.
But since they arrived in Orario earlier, they managed to set up Familia bases in the central area. If they had arrived later like Hestia, they probably would have set up their bases in remote corners too.
Setting up a new Familia base next to Takemikazuchi and Miach wouldn't be a bad idea. One was a god of War's familia, though not particularly useful, but still an ally. And Miach familia was a supplier of recovery medicines. Having good relations with the God of Medicine could never be a bad thing!
"In that case, let's choose a new Familia base near Takemikazuchi and Miach Familias. That way, you can hang out with your friends more easily, Hestia."
"Awesome! It's been so boring at home, and visiting Hephaestus means running far across town. Her shop is on Babel, and it's such a hassle to get there. Now I can just visit Take-chan and Miach-chan when I want to chat."
Altair told Hestia his decision, and she responded with enthusiasm.
"Altair-kun, you're the best! Mwah~"
Excited, Hestia hugged Altair's neck and kissed him on the cheek.
When it was just the two of them, Altair had always been the proactive one, which made the naturally bold Hestia feel shy. Though they were very close, she hadn't been one to initiate kisses before.
Now, with Saeko's arrival, Hestia, who had openly declared herself the main wife, had returned to her confident self, becoming more direct with her affection towards Altair.
This made Altair very happy. Having a harem and having his wife be the one taking the initiative was a win-win!
He reached his left hand behind him to support Hestia, lifting her a bit higher on his back.
"Alright, today's mission is to pick out a new Familia base!"
"Yes!!"
Saeko, standing beside them, couldn't help but smile as she watched the two of them cheer excitedly.
"Let's go, Saeko. The three of us, together."
Altair extended his right hand to Saeko, and she placed her left hand in his. Her smile grew even wider.
