Magus System

Magical energy in this universe is known as 'magus', which can only exist in living beings. This energy does not exist naturally outside a living being, which means it cannot be found in nature.

The potential of a living being to harness magus is their 'Magus Potential'.

The magus potential of a living being depends on how many magus nodes they have opened. All multi-cellular species have exactly 108 nodes, while a single-celled microorganism will only have one magus node. These nodes are metaphysical, existing in the body but not physical objects.

Animals and humans each have a set amount of potential they can use to open these nodes. Once it is all used up, it becomes nearly impossible to open any more without the use of special elixirs. The unlocking of a node corresponds to an unlock of sealed magus within their body. In humans, they cannot access these until puberty.

Furthermore, magus is divided into subclasses of magic which different species excel at mastering.

Individual humans tend to excel at multiple magus' innate to them at birth. One magus node may be a subclass magic different from another node. However, there can never be any conflicts or the person or creature will die. Conflicts are extremely rare, and most normal people never find out.

Here is the list of magus energies:

Sturdy Magus - This energy is naturally sturdier and heavier than the others and is the foundation of the [Tank] class and defense spells.

Sharp Magus - This energy is abnormally sharp when brought outside the body, able to cut many things to pieces. Used heavily in the [Swordsman] and [Magical Swordsman] class.

Agility Magus - This energy is abnormally light and allows a living being or object to move faster than others the more they have of this energy. It is an important part of several classes and spells.

Healing Magus - This energy tends to be almost holy and yet different from the light magus, capable of accelerating regeneration and healing within living beings. The foundation of the [Healer] class and healing spells.

Divine Magus - The final state of all magus energies when brought to their peak. Cannot be found in a magus node unless a direct descendent of a deity. This state is highly energetic, unstable, and capable of influencing reality. The only way to cure this instability is through the faith of others. More divine magus requires more faith to be stable, and vice versa.

Tame Magus - A gentle energy which affects the minds of all creatures, inducing tame-like effects on them. Used as the foundation of the [Tamer] class.

Explosive Magus - This energy tends to be unstable and explosive outside the human body. This energy is an important part of the [Firearm] class and explosive spells.

Dark Magus - This energy is naturally black with shadow-like effects, which is most effective when used in natural shadows or at night. Is heavily used in the [Assassin] class.

Light Magus - Similar to sunlight and energetic as fire when brought out of the body. Absorbs sunlight to increase power. Effects are amplified in sunlight. Has heavy combat potential and is used by many classes.

Standard Magus - The most stable energy form commonly used by the [Mage] class for spells, runes, arrays, etc. This energy can easily be manipulated by the mind. When put into a spell, rune, array, or formation, the energy can be transformed into different elements such as earth, water, metal, wind, fire, and wood.

Demonic Magus - This energy only exists in the living organisms of Diabolus who have evolved to tolerate and master this energy. To outsiders, this energy is corrosive to the mind, body, and magus nodes. This energy will destroy the nodes when the concentration exceeds the total amount of sealed and unsealed magus energies, rending them unable to use magus for the rest of their life. Long enough, this energy will destroy turn an outsider into an insane rabid creature.

In small doses, the energy can temporarily amplify other magus energies, abilities, and skills at the cost of a decline in sanity. This amplification increases in larger doses at a larger cost of sanity.

Fate Magus - This energy is extremely rare, mysterious, and almost impossible to find in living beings. This energy absorbs information from the present world and fragments of the future and transmits it to the living being. Very few people have this magus node, with the notable one being a god.

A level 108 person for example is no different from a god and all their magus' have transformed into a divine variant.
