[In this world, being dumb is the most serious crime one could commit!

For your own sake, never trust. Not your blood tied. Don't even mention those not tied by anything.

It is better to be late than sorry... Think before every action and overthink before every action...

Let your think be the best possibility and you overthinking the worst you can imagine.

Then judge based on your overthinking... Believe me, the best possibility is for the 1%% chosen people and if you are reading this, you aren't one of those. ]

Mr. Jerlad still clinging to the beautiful Elf who was pressing him away with a disgusted face, looked at Lucas with suspicion.

"Aren't you the one who said I am not built for labour work?"

Lucas bowed for the second time. This time I was quicker and placed my palm in front of him on the floor before he could bounce his head on it for the second time.

'This crazy dumbass... You don't even have that many working brain cells to begin with!' My hand was numb and red. I looked at him in shock.

"I was young and dumb. Please teach me how to seduce chicks that are on a total higher level than me!"

Suddenly the salon went into silent and then the silent broke by a boy's laugher and Mr. Jerald became as red as tomatoes.

Seeing this, I jumped back, also dragging Lucas, which saved him from the heavy kick send by the fuming red Mr. Jerald.

"Hello grandma! Pfft ha-ha! You really married below your level! Pfft!"

The new entity, still laughing, went to the silver-haired woman and kissed her cheek. It resulted in a kiss back and a jealous glare from Mr. Jerald. The newcomer gave him a mischievous look.

He came towards us and extended his hand towards me, still holding Lucas by the collar. Leaving the collar, I took his hand with a smile and talking before he could.

"You should be Gaspere, Cinnamon's friend, right? I am Dawn and this is Lucas!"

Hearing Cinnamons name, he became brighter than he already was and shook my hand with more vigor.

"And you are the one who makes delicious food. Grandpa talked about you."

"Who told you could leave the shop behind and play around? Who will do the job if you are here? I am reducing your wage!" Mr. Jerald rambled angrily.

"Fire is taking care of that, and I am not playing around. I took a lunch break! I should at least eat right, grandma?" Gaspere complained with a wronged tone.

The elfin woman cast Mr. Jerald a scary glare, which made him cower and revise his words.

"If you repeat it, I will reduce your wage..."

Then he turned to me with a pouty face.

"Are you here to watch the show or call? The phone is there in the corner! "

'Jeez, coward, lucky, old senile!' I thought but showed a grateful smile as I went to the corner he pointed at. Dialing the number on the old phone yet expensive looking golden phone.

"What!" Grandfather answered in an annoyed tone.

"What????" I said back in disbelief!

"Oh..."

"Really? How could you lie to me about your garden?"

"What lie? There are two trees in it!"

"You didn't lie? Good! So, I don't have to take care of those eight sprits of yours, right? "

"No, you don't!"

Is he real?

"..."

"You only have to take care of my seven sprits! My mother has her own home! Tell her she can either go back home to tutor his husband or to her other children. She has tortured my wife enough!"

" Are you saying that your mother is a sprite? "

"Oh, don't call her that. Gold hates it when people bring up the fact that she dosn't have parents! An advice: if she refused to go, show her respect and do whatever you can to please her or she might just beat you to a pulp."

"From the begging was your plan to dump your sprits on me by giving me the castle...? I can't take responsibility for that many people!"

At this rate, my voice was shaking.

"Of course it wasn't the plan! I only planned to lure you into adopting Lucas since you were the easiest target who could see others... Ahem, I mean the most capable!"

I was speechless, since I was dumb! He knew and there were others who saw them too? I was full of questions. Could mom see them too? If there were others, why did I have to suffer so much? Hiding, fearing, being hated. I felt like a huge nut was in my throat, choking me.

"How did you know? Snice when? Who else can see them besides me? In the first place, why would you need someone who can see them?" I said in a low, hoarse voice. Like how I learned to talk my entire life.

"You were so ab-"

I shuddered, my entire body freezing. Feeling like throwing, I didn't want to hear anymore, so I cut his words.

"Leave it, just tell me why do I have to do this too if I have already held my end of the bargain?" I wanted to shout, but the more I talked, the bigger that nut became and the lesser of my voice that came out.

" Look, promise me that your mouth is going to be locked! She's gonna yell at me for eternity if you slip anything..."

How can he crack jokes is what I would have asked if I had the right to...

The one responsible for my life isn't him. I know this. But my heart felt like it was bursting.

I promised immediately to hear his most probably childish excuse, with the obvious intention of spilling it as soon as possible. It was a good sign I could still afford to be childish.

" Promise!" I sounded clearer, so I raised the thought. I will also add something to it and spill it. The nut seemed to go down, deeper and deeper.

"Mmm... Wind brought news that my mother is visiting... and since the last time she visited didn't quite end up well with Eliana, we ran away... traveling somewhere fare away and because your grandma didn't want to deal with children during a trip and I had given you quite the money, you ended up with them for the summer. "

'Hah! Senile thing...'

"..." In the end, he indeed lured and used me. I wanted to end the call right away, but thinking about the promise I made with the children, I controlled my will.

"Can I bring them to the castle?"

"Sure! But at your own risk! There is a reason why I di-"

Hearing his approval, I ended the call, not wanting to hear anything else. I wasn't in the mood to humor him. The phone rang. He was for sure angry. It was his habit he would ring until the one on the other side becomes forced to take his anger. So, I took out the cable. Smiling awkwardly at the host.

With a small bow and smile, I announced my departure.

"It was nice to meet you all, and thank you for the call. I have to go make food now. It would be my pleasure if you came over for dinner!" I said in a clear voice.

Walking towards the door, I called for Lucas, cowering behind a coach.

"Lucas!"

He ran towards me with caution, turning his head regularly. Gaspere came too!

"I will guide you out of the village. Grandpa Griffin is not friendly, you see, my other grandfather is the one who attacked your car the other day! He also is the village head, so my accompaniment could save you from getting bitten..." He said in a half jokingly and half serious.

"We are in your care, then!" I said, patting his head.

He looked up at me with widened eyes and a paled face. Looking about to pass out.

"How could you..."
