Chapter 9 *Where Things get Real*

Selene: "Ruri, how did you find me?"

Ruri: "Well I was walking by this building and saw you walk in. It was late so I decided to wait until morning to visit."

Reo: "I would've rather you not visit at all."

Selene: "Reo."

Reo: "Mezuke."

(Reo said in a higher pitch voice.)

Selene: "I feel like you're doing it on purpose."

Sara: "So guys what are we doing, like today."

Reo: "A reunion apparently."

Ruri: "Technically this isn't a reunion. We already had our reunion."

Reo: "Whatever. Selene you're in charge of watching Kaen with your sister. Me and Sara will get us money. What do we need?"

Sara: "Can I stay back a little bit, I need to wake up."

Reo: "No."

(Reo grabbed Sara's arm and dragged her out the door.)

Sara: "Ok, bye everyone."

(She waved her other arm as she got dragged around the corner and the door got slammed shut.)

(Selene and Ruri sat on the couch, with Kaen still asleep on the floor. Amazing how he didn't wake up yet.)

Selene: "If you're still trying to convince me to leave with you, it's not happening. I'm fine here."

Ruri: "Yeah sure."

(Ruri looks around the place as she says that.)

Ruri: 'Listen, I'm not trying to take you away, I know you're old enough to watch yourself, but When mom and dad died, you were all I had left, I wanted to make sure nothing happened to you."

Selene: "Mom and dad's death hurt me too."

Ruri: "I know, I feel selfish doing this, but Miziki I need to know that you'll be fine."

Selene: "Ruri, I will."

Ruri: "You said the same thing when you tried to ride the bike without training wheels."

Selene: "You said I was ready."

Ruri: "I was just tired of putting them on everytime."

Selene: "We had to take them off and on or it wouldn't fit in the house."

Ruri: "You mean the shed."

Selene: "It was big to me, I was tiny."

(They both laugh about their past.)

Ruri: "I know I can't make you come with me, so I decided to move here."

Selene: "What?"

Ruri: "Yeah, I got the same job I did back in Tokyo. Just a little less money, because there was not a lot of destruction."

Selene: "Wow, where will you stay?"

Ruri: "Well the job also gives out places to stay there, so it's easier to get a hold of us."

Selene: "Well, if this is what you want."

Ruri: "What I want is to keep you safe, and I will."

(Ruri checked her phone for the time.)

Ruri: "Well I better head off. They like us to be there just in case. Bye Mizuki."

Selene: "Bye Ruri."

(Ruri left, leaving Selene alone to watch Kaen, who is still asleep.)

(Reo and Sara are walking around the city looking for anything they can get paid for. It started to get dark out.)

Sara: "Reo, are we gonna to get evicted."

Reo: "Probably."

Sara: "That's not reassuring."

Reo: "If you ask for the truth you get the truth. You're 18, I'm not gonna sugar everything for you anymore."

Sara: "Anymore?"

Reo: "Remember when dad and I would go train and I would come back beaten up."

Sara: "Yeah, you told me you fell down the stairs, which I thought was weird, because we didn't have stairs."

Reo: "Dad beat me. Not because I was bad, but to make me better."

Sara: "Well are you better?"

Reo: "I'm a better fighter, and I can use my core better, but I still hate his guts, and I don't trust anyone. You decide if I'm better or not."

Sara: "You know they still don't know your core, you left before they even saw it."

Reo: "I did that on purpose. When I started seeing signs of my core, I left."

Sara: "That made them sad."

Reo: "Life isn't rainbows and bunnies. I learned that at a very young age, I'm glad you didn't have to."

Sara: "Yeah, mom just kinda said if I get tired tell her. Then we can take a break and eat ice

cream."

Reo: "Glad you got a treat when I got beat."

Sara: "You're funny, Reo."

Reo: "Shut up."

Sara: "That's not nice Reo. I just said you're funny and you-"

Reo: "Seriously I see something, shut up."

(Reo pulls Sara in an alleyway and looks around the corner. He sees an old man digging through the trash. He looks closer and sees that it's the old man him and Selene saved from that weird hair guy. It was Hugo Yoshi.)

Hugo: "Yes, got you.

(Hugo pulls out a vile of blood.)

Hugo: "I knew that two core freak could do it."

Reo: "Two core freak?"

(Reo checks his body and he doesn't know how he didn't notice before. There's a bandaid on his left thigh. A weird place to extract blood from, unless you were trying to keep a secret. Reo didn't know why that guy wanted his blood, but he didn't like it.)

Reo: "Hey!"

Hugo: "Huh?"

Reo: "Gimme back my blood damn it!"

Hugo: "Uh oh."

(Hugo started running away, but you can't run from Reo. Reo got right behind him and shoved him to the ground, Hugo fell and layed there, looking up at Reo.)

Reo: "What do you want with my blood?"

Hugo: "Listen we can talk."

Reo: "What do you want with my blood!?"

Sara: "Uh, Reo?"

(Reo turned around.)

Reo: "What?!"

(Reo didn't see his sister though. He turned right into the chest of a very muscular shirtless man. Reo looked up and the man had a mask chained around his mouth and messy red and black hair.)

Reo: "You again."

(The man gave a blank stare.)

Reo: "Well, let me do what I wanted to do."

(Reo charged up his fist so it was covered in electricity and punched the man right in his chest, but the man didn't move. He didn't even flinch."

(Reo looked back up at the man.)

Reo: "Soooo, nevermind."

(The man then grabbed Reo's arm and threw him across the street. Reo caught himself, but when he looked up, the man grabbed Hugo and ran away. His speed was crazy, and he had this large amount of purple aura around him. The last thing Reo heard was Hugo yelling.)

Hugo: "See ya, loser."

(Selene sat on the couch very bored. She watched so much tv, she was tired of it, so she decided to explore a little bit around the apartment. Not a lot to explore, but it's better than nothing. She looked in the hallway closet. He had some jackets and a coat hung up. In the back was his sword.)

Selene: "He forgot to bring it with him. He'll come back any second to grab it. I'll set it out for him."

(Selene grabbed and set it on the couch. She decided to check out the gloves he had in his room. They were still on the ground where he left them. She picked them up and put them on the couch with the sword.)

Selene: "Perfect. If he wears all this, he might actually have a hero style, instead of a tank top and jeans."

(Just then the door swung open.)

Selene: "Hey Reo, I got you-"

Reo: "Where's Kaen?"

Selene: "Calm down he's-"

(She pointed where Kaen was, but he wasn't there anymore.)

Selene: "He was-"

(Selene looked up and saw the window was open.)

Reo: "Come on let's go."

Selene: "Wait put on this stuff. Who knows what might happen."

(Reo put on his gloves, and put his sword on his back and they all ran out of the apartment.)

Sara: "Where'd he go?"

(Reo Heard some clatter and looked across the street. He saw Kaen run into some trash cans and get back up.)

Reo: "There!"

(Kaen saw them, so he ran around the building. Reo went electric mode and chased after him. Reo saw him enter the darkness of an alleyway.)

Reo: "Kaen, I know that's a dead end. Come on out, and I won't beat you too badly."

(Reo didn't hear anything. He decided to go in, but when he took a step a black blur shot out at him. Reo grabbed his sword and deflected the blur away before it hit him.)

Reo: "That's not Kaen's core. Who are you?"

(All Reo heard was a soft laughter.)

???: "Hello, Reo."

Reo: "Do I know you?"

???: "I hope not. I wanted to stay in secret, until now. This my grand reveal."

(A man stepped out, but the shadows covered his face, so you could only see what he was wearing. A black suit, with a red tie.)

Reo: "Listen, I don't wanna have to beat two people up, but please give me a reason to, so I can take two people in and get more money."

???: "Yes, yes, heroes and their money. If heroes didn't get paid, there wouldn't be as many heroes as there are today. All anyone wants anymore is money, money, money."

Reo: "Oh yeah, why are you a villain then?"

???: "People look at me as a villain, but I'm just a man who wants the world to be better. A man who's not afraid to get his hands dirty."

Reo: "Huh? Well, I'm gonna turn this conversation around back to when I asked, who are you?"

???: "I'm so sorry. I didn't introduce myself."

(The man walked out more with his head down, so he could see his hair. It was black with red streaks in it. The man looked up and you could see his face. It was pale. His eyes were black except for the pupils which were red. He had three slashes going over both eyes that were dark black. It looked like makeup, but it wasn't makeup.)

Kage: "My name is Kage."
