Hype And Resoulute

As the day goes on normally, Roy reached his school via public bus.

When he was on the bus all he can hear was a constant advertisement for Infinity Online and the worst part is that all the people on the bus also discussing it.

If he has to say, the advertisement of the advertise of Infinity Online was impressive so impressive that he want to go to their headquarters and choke their staff to death.

Of course, he is not insane but this kind of advertisement could drive a saint to insanity.

And the fact that he is a regressor isn't helping either since he already knows everything about Infinity Online and beyond too.

So instead of building hypes, this builds annoyances.

'Haa... this is so tiring, at least I know I didn't have to worry about school since I do remember vaguely its content.', feeling quite depressed Roy makes a run for his school since he knows that this day will be more tiring, especially in a class full of teenagers that as horny as wild dog.

'Should I skip school today?... haa Anna would be mad.' Shaking my head a little I step into Carter High School.

"Ok class, silent!", the homeroom teacher said in a stern voice.

Immediately, all the noise came to a halt and become silent.

"Good.", the teacher nodded.

"I know that you all are hype about the upcoming Infinity Online, but I will have to remind you that is it all just a game you shouldn't get addicted to it. The people making the game are also human just like us so you can also do it with enough knowledge". The homeroom teacher silent for a moment for his word to sink in.

"That said, I'm also impressed by the game itself unlike other 'fully' immersive VR games that only have three out of five senses, Infinity Online has all five such technology isn't new as a concept but making it into reality is in itself a technological revolution... So that is why we learning about the history of human technology, last time we stop at the industrial revolution, so next, we will talk about-"

Roy didn't bother to listen to the lecture mainly because he had heard this before so he just ignore it for the rest of the class.

Besides, right now he is in a very unfavorable position. He doesn't have much money right now in his pocket.

Even though he is now in high school which is cost a lot of money, most of it was paid for by his kind relative.

He and Anna are living off his uncle's money so he isn't comfortable spending his uncle's money to buy a VR headset.

He does work part-time at a convenience store so he still has some capital to work with and it's also close to the cheapest VR headset.

But Anna's birthday comes this weekend and there is no way he can get enough money to buy Anna a nice gift since the game doesn't support micro-transactions until Update 3 which comes three months from now.

So he stuck between Anna and humanity's last hope and so...

He chooses Anna, fuck humanity for all he cares. Just kidding he isn't those cringy 'I will sacrifice the world just for you' kind of person he's more greedy than that he will choose both because he can.

Plus, he still has option three.

What better way to make more money than the lottery! And also stock markets for good measure.

But he can't do both right now since he's still in class.

"Fuck...", Roy muttered quietly.

Time flies, three hours of boring lectures have passed, and now Roy is in the school cafeteria.

As usual, he picked the cheapest meal they have to offer, which is a cheap hamburger that barely has meat.

Roy picked a secluded spot in the cafeteria and started to eat his meal.

The food was okay as best if he has to compare this with what he eats before regression, this wouldn't be considered trashes it would be considered inedible.

But it looks like except for his memories of the future, not much about his body has changed, his taste bud is still sucked, and his body is malnutrition like he was before.

'This going to be tough playing with this kind of body...', Infinity Online isn't just a simple game where you can just up your stats points and become strong.

It also needs inhumane technical skills which are only achievable after one reaches the pinnacle of one's body.

'I guess, I don't need to care about this problem now. I still have plenty of time before the update 6 drops.'

With that in mind, he continues to eat his hamburger in peace... at least that is what he hopes to.

"Hey, John aren't you excited to play Infinity Online this afternoon?", a student with glass and neat hair said.

"Of course, I'm hype I already bought the gold-tier VR headset!", Another student with a rich-kid vibe said.

"Damn, isn't that like a thousand bucks?", said the student who wears glasses.

"Hehe, Of course, I heard that my father's company has managed to get 0.1℅ of Origin Company stock"

"Cool, can I also have one?"

"Nah, get your own. The bronze-tier one is only a hundred dollars you can get it easily"

"Hehe"

Of course, the conversation doesn't end there but Roy didn't want to hear any of these braggings since he is dirt poor.

He only has 89$ in his saving, which means that he only needs to work for another day to get the bronze-tier VR headset.

But he wants the gold-tier one since a bronze one is too weak for him to display all his past mechanical skills and it's also a big disadvantage because the bronze-tier one decreased the decree of realism and severely limited the NPC interaction which is something he wouldn't like in the early game where the players have no idea what they are doing.

Because he can take that as an advantage to help him propel in the early to the mid-game stage since there is an abundance of secret quests and dungeons that would open up the way for him to make his desired class that he didn't have a chance to complete the last time.

Not to mention its two-hour gaming cap. Which severely limited his play time, since he decided to drop out of school to play the game 24/7 for the sake of humanity of course, 'Besides, I'm humanity's last hope I can drop school whenever I want... it not like the old school system would last long'

Roy fills himself with narcissism before finding his burger, he then walks to the trash can nearby and throws the wrapper in. 'Every hero started from small action remembered that kid!'.

When talking to his imaginary audience, his six senses suddenly started to active. Since most of the game experience is reality itself, he has honed all his five senses to the max and he also fully unblocked his six senses, he can easily detect danger. With his vast amount of experience, he steps to his side to dodge the incoming person.

But he miscalculated one thing, he doesn't have his old body anymore, so his movement was awkward, and almost get trip by himself trying to execute an easy move... in his past life that is.

Wham!

Someone jumped on him and now lay on his chest, he didn't even have to guess who this is cause he was too familiar with this person's antic behavior.

He looked down and locked his eyes with that person, with a golden blonde hair that has been cut short to nape length, a pair of deep azure eyes, cherry red lips, and a lean body. He is without a doubt his best friend Deric Anais.

"Ow...! Yahoo, Roy." with a mischievous smile, Deric said while his eyes turned crescents.

"Ow, y-yo Deric." Roy greets Deric awkwardly.

This is Deric, Roy's best friend, a student in the same class and school for ten years, and... a professional trap.

"Hm~, my boy Roy today is weird he didn't shove me out normally", Deric said while hugging me harder, which hurt a lot since he has some karate class for self-defend.

"Ow, Ow fuck stop it Deric." If it was his past body he wouldn't even feel pain but now with a non awaken body he was quite weak despite work-out regularly.

"Heh~, Roy why didn't you shove me and said 'It's because of you I can't have a girlfriend'?" said Deric, Roy can even see a question mark on his head like some kind of cartoon.

'Of course, I can't if you didn't... sacrifice yourself for me...', Roy cried inwardly, remembering the dark past.

'I will never let that happen again.' seeing his friends and sister alive and well Roy once again reaffirms his goal, he won't let his family and friends suffer, he doesn't want to see the world end, he wants to see the demon despair, he determined with all the knowledge from the future he will change the world.

And he will make it happen no matter the cost.

"Hey~, what with that intense gaze? Are you into trap now? Hump~ Roy answer me!" Deric grin mischievously and said.

'What the actual fuck!', Roy cursed inwardly with a bitter taste in his mouth.

Author: Right now is still the initial stage before Roy go into the game world and go on a boring grinding spree with all kind of hidden dungeon and secret quest and stuff, but as I said before I don't really like that kind of progression so I will focus on some minor world-building plus relationship.

I will probably go into the game world in chapter 4 though but still, it depends on how much I will change other detail.
