To the Final Test

After the combat assessment the research team agreed that Titania should be given a few days rest in order to recover. Titania agreed with this as his whole body was sore and riddled with bruises that made any movement painful and uncomfortable. However the Facility also included that he would remain in his living quarter throughout the whole time, not being able to freely roam around the facility in order to monitor his healing progress.

While this did irritate Titania as he would be locked in his room for an unknown amount of days, probably until he was fully healed, he knew that being a research subject means that you are going to give up certain rights and freedoms.

However while he was locked up in his room he decided to explore what his class can do. He knew that he should have done so much earlier with the sudden whirlwind of events and tests that where happening he didn't have much time. Still, to himself that wasn't much of an excuse.

He shifted the furniture in the room to create as much space as he could. Soon he had a small area that was big enough for him to move around comfortably and without fear of hitting furniture. His worst fear was not banging his fist into the wall but rather stubbing his toe again the furniture.

It is enough to bring down even the most toughest of warriors.

From the system he learned that he gained one ability to his surprise. Most people would be gifted two or three at the most while having to learn other abilities from people or books. He got one but hey something is better than nothing.

[Class Ability: Spore Production]

[Description: Be able to create the spores of the Infection. Those who make contact with the spores start taking a small amount of damage. Can stack on top of each other. Can cause reactions when exposed to extreme temperatures.]

[Note: As the user levels up so does the effectiveness.]

When he read the ability his eyes open with shock. Now he was the ability to produce the infection straight from himself. This ability in itself had an infinite amount of uses regardless if it did damage to other people. He could create other people like him, other infected humans.

The thoughts of controlling an army filled his head. He saw himself destroying nations with the flick of his wrist, he himself the sole controller of an imperial army that can only grow in strength.

Well, a boy can dream.

Determine to use the ability he opened his palm and thought of how he could trigger the ability. When the game was developed, video games consoles were very advanced, being able to connect to the brain and take direct orders from the organ itself. This made controllers worthless, a mere relic of the past.

He mentally commanded Spore production to activate and stared expecting at his hand to produce a river of the sporous infection that courses through his veins

"Well that was unexpected," He muttered to himself. His nose started to build pressure and then he let out a sneeze.

Then a small cloud of spores surrounded his head leading him into a endless train of sneezing. By the time he got out of the cloud of spores, snot started running down his face and unto his lips. He felt like one of the snot nosed iPad kids that don't know how to clean themselves. He went to the bathroom to clean his face

From this he quickly found out that he could only breathe out the Spores from his mouth. He was a bit bummed out as he expected it from to be created from his hands, he thought it would look a lot cooler, but he was happy with what he got.

The cloud of spores then rested on the ground unto a pile. He touched it and rubbed it between his fingers. The spores acted like a powder, it was lightweight and could stay in the air for a long time before settling on the floor.

"At least I now know how to trigger it, but how do I use it?" He said to himself as he plays with the spores. It was like drawing in the snow.

From this he made a note that the spores didn't hurt him.

He thought for a while of what weapon would work well with him and the ability as he saw huge potential in it. In this world technology can only help someone so far before they have to depend on themselves.

A sword or lance wouldn't work at it would cause too much distance as the spores could only go so far forward. So he would have to remain in close contact with the enemy to maximize the damage of the spores. Ideas of a mace or dagger came to his mind, but still it didn't seem to settle right with him.

'There must be a weapon that works,' he thought to himself as he paced around the spacious area he created.

A gun could always work.

In thinking of what would work well with his ability he flung his head forward to stimulate an idea, which never came. He then saw a vent in the ceiling, humming quietly as it filled the room with temperature regulated sterile air, never causing the room to go either cold or warm.

"What if I just gather a lot of spores and push it into the ventilation system." He said out loud to himself as he stared at the vent fixture in the ceiling. Thoughts of flooding the vents with spores that would quickly suffocate and turned those that survive into infected like himself, granting him a small army from the start.

"I could remove the filter on mine to get as much spores into the air."

A quick way to get Exp too, might even raise his level to the next class advancement.

No there are more benefits in the long run of letting the entire facility live and continue their research. There is still much to learn about the Infection and how it works. And what comes after it.

He then turned his attention to the spores on the floor.

"Now how do I clean this?" he said as he stared at the pile of spores gathering on his floor. It was definitely health hazard. He tried to gather all of the spores into a tall mound all the while thinking of what would work well with the Spore Production ability.

After creating a pile of spores on the ground Titania was still no closer to finding answer to his problem. In order to pass the time hoping that an idea come to his mind, he began to play with the spores like a kid does.

He grab a handful of and compacted it into a ball. Once he got it into a round shape that was comfortable in his hands he tossed it into the air, it felt extremely light.

He tossed it into the air and caught it into his hands, he then bounced it around in each of his hands. After screwing around with the ball, he felt an impulse come to his mind and he followed it.

He then threw it at the wall with some force. It burst into a cloud of spores for hung in the air for an insatiable amount of time.

"Haha it's like a grenade!", He said as he clapped his hands to applaud his own 'genius'.

Afterwards of celebrating he then created a small snowman with the spores on the floor.

He then had to call for help to remove the spores as he had no idea on how to get rid of it. He got on the phone that was on his room and held it to his ear and pressed the receiver twice. Soon someone on the other side of the phone picked up.

Titania quickly told who he was and what happened. When he was describing who he was he referred to himself as Subject Zero as to not arouse any suspension of rebellion coming from his part. He also mentioned that he had to ability to produce spores at will, he knew that he had to forthcoming with the facility, which means not hiding anything from them, no secret tricks or trump cards.

When they caught whiff of what Titania said the researchers were more than happy to help remove the spores in his room. After a moment there was a knock at the door.

Two researchers all covered head to toe in protective rubber suits. Not an single speck of flesh was present, even there face was covered. How they could see made Titania wonder. One had a container and the other had a shovel like tool to gather the mess that he created.

Titania gave them all the room that they needed to collect the spores by going into a different room from where they were. After they were done collecting they left the room without letting announcement.

Once Titania saw that they left he put all of the furniture back into the original positions. When he moved the last chair he sat down at it and stared up at the vent.

'It would be so easy,' he thought as he stared at the vent quietly humming as it provides delicious air. 'A small little speck wouldn't hurt... Right?'

After staring at the vent for an unknown amount of time he finally took his attention away from it and saw the time. It was well past dark and his eyes started feeling heavy. He then got up and went to bed, shooting the vent one last look before sleeping.

The next day he woke up before the sun was out. He got up and sat at the edge of the bed and waited for sometime, as though to gather strength to pull himself off the bed.

He then went to a dresser that contained all of the clothes he had, which while were a lot were the same. The same color of shirt and pants like yesterday and the day before. Never changing, and he liked it like that. There was no need to pick out a color or design, just pick one and go. Very efficient and saves time.

After collecting the clothes he then went to the shower and cleaned himself. After showering he dried off and put on his clothes.

He looked at himself in the mirror and saw something on his neck. It was a big blister scar on the right side of his neck. It was a light pink that stood out against his skin, it was very noticeable. He got closer to the mirror to see if it was real or if he was imagining it.

Once he saw that it didn't go away the closer he got to it, he then lightly tapped it with his index finger expecting it to cause pain or go away but it did neither. It rather just stayed their tinting a patch of his skin a scarish pink.

After he got out there was a knock at the door. Titania immediately opened it and saw who was on the other side. It was the saw two researchers that tagged along with him everywhere in the facility, Reese and Farron.

"Hello Subject Zero," Reese said with much enthusiasm, unwarranted at such an early time of day, "Ready for your last test?"

When Titania heard this he immediately became ecstatic with joy. "FINALLY! THE LAST ONE!" He shouted a the top of his lungs and jumped, spinning in the air.

After the moment of joy and celebration they left the room. They then went through the metal halls, each foot step they took made a metallic tap that was pleasant to his ears. After walking to for some time they arrived to a door that had a window on it. Titania peeked through it and saw what was outside. He was amazed with what he saw.

Then he opened the door and stepped outside.
