Retroactive Rewards
"Help? That sounds pretty condescending, Rain," Roan furrowed his eyebrows.
"Don't mind your father, he isn't a morning person and tends to say stupid things thanks to it," Leiah said and then hit Roan side with her elbow and made him groan. "This should help him wake up a bit faster."
"I mean, helping indirectly, as an apology for letting things end like this," Rain said. "I still need more information, and I think that I will have to continue working a lot for a while longer. I can't make any big changes as I am now and I also don't want to warn our enemies."
The air in the shelter suddenly became thick with confusion and uncertainty as Rain mentioned something like that. His words caught everyone off guard, especially considering his recent return to them after such a prolonged absence. The idea of leaving out on his own struck a troublesome chord among the group, raising concerns and perplexing the others.
