In The Shadow of Death: The Villain's Survival

What the hell is this? I was reincarnated in the novel “Breaker of Destiny,” which I read as the protagonist. What is the protagonist? No, the third-rate villain, Ash von Agnus, the illegitimate son of the Emperor, the most hated person in the novel, is initially a minor antagonist in the novel, and he serves as a starting point for the hero and is destined to die in the most tragic ways, but regardless of this, this accursed world is headed for ruin. Oh, whatever, nothing connects me to my previous world, no family, no one, I was alone and I still am, nothing has changed. For better or worse I will live this life. I still remember all the details of the novel, and with my knowledge I will kill, survive, change my fate, and save this damned world.

A Glimpse of The World

The world of the novel " Destiny's Breaker " is vast. It follows a modern sci-fi and fantasy framework where Earth wasn't always as it is in this story. Eight centuries before the main events, the world changed dramatically.

On January 1, 2070, an event that shook humanity occurred: the sky split and fissures—tears in the fabric of space and time—opened all over the world, connecting to a parallel realm. From these fissures emerged an enemy known as "demons," threatening Earth's peace. However, unlike other tales, humanity was quick to respond. Modern weapons, while not highly effective, were not entirely useless against these creatures. With the help of nuclear weapons, humans managed to hold their ground.

A fierce war for survival and dominance ensued. Despite facing a supernatural race, humanity resisted with all its might, but at a steep cost: half of Earth's population perished. This period, known as the Decade of Catastrophe, was one of the darkest times in human history, leading many to believe humanity's fall was imminent.

Yet, amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged. Mana—the latent life energy of the world—awoke and stirred, breaking the limits of humans. Among them rose a hero: Julius von Agnus, who led humanity to victory. He fought the demon lords as equals, expelled them, and drove the surviving demon army to the Alax continent in America.

Although humanity still feared the demon threat, they celebrated their survival. However, the following years were harder as they faced new challenges. The fissures reappeared, but this time, survivors from destroyed worlds came through. Murim martial artists, Clover Continent mages, and various other races—elves, dwarves, barbarians, half-beasts, and vampires—sought refuge on Earth.

Humanity struck a deal with these new arrivals: in exchange for refuge, they would teach Earth's inhabitants their techniques and secrets. The Murim warriors and Clover mages agreed and integrated easily, being humans themselves. The elves, dark elves, dwarves, and barbarians also agreed. However, not all newcomers had good intentions. The half-beasts allied with the demons, and the vampires sought to dominate Earth due to their arrogance and sense of superiority. The other races allied with humans, succeeding in exterminating the half-beasts and expelling the vampires to the Arctic.

Interactions with other worlds caused tectonic shifts, merging Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia into a giant continent called Ecardia, while the Americas merged into Alax. The polar continents remained unchanged.

After eight long centuries, Yram became less chaotic, but peace was still elusive. Vampires continued to push their boundaries from the north, keeping humanity in constant conflict. Meanwhile, demons in Alax still posed existential threats despite their quiet.

Julius von Agnus declared himself Emperor of Ecardia, dividing it into four regions and establishing the Supreme Council, comprising rulers of Ecardia and the strongest individuals from various races. Ecardia flourished through cooperation, combining dwarven craftsmanship, barbarian strength, and elven knowledge with human technology.

The capital, Cairo, epitomized this golden age with floating castles, flying cars, futuristic weapons, and immersive virtual reality worlds. The Supreme Council implemented a program requiring all mana users to undergo three years of military education, followed by four years of service in the United Army—a combined force of humans, elves, dark elves, barbarians, and dwarves. This led to the establishment of several military academies worldwide, with Athena Academy and Thanos Academy standing out.

The main story is set in Athena Academy, located on a floating island above Cairo, offering students a place to live and train with the latest technologies and some of the strongest individuals. It's among the strongest cities on Earth, rivaled only by Thanos Academy. These cities are the pride of the United Army.

Ash Von Agnus's POV

"Welcome to the western continent and the city of Silverthorne."

Upon arrival, an enchanting voice greeted us. A beautiful elf with silver locks and a charming face, wearing a blue and white receptionist's uniform, stood behind a desk next to a massive rectangular-framed teleportation gate, similar to the one we had just passed through.

"Thank you," Jenny replied. "We'll be on our way."

The futuristic scene outside was beyond my wildest dreams. Towering buildings, 3D billboards, security robots, and flying cars filled the streets, giving off a sci-fi vibe.

'This is amazing, but I mustn't forget the reason for my visit.'

The ruins containing Wise's Elixir.

Ecardia is filled with dungeons teeming with treasures and artifacts, many of which I know well. But that's a story for another time.

"Ron, Jenny, move quickly."

"Yes, sir."

'Let's get started.'
