Despite the great weather outside, Beatrice had been confined to her room for weeks, unable to comprehend what was happening to her.
It felt as though she had been gone for a long time and returned to a completely different world.
Sunlight filtered in through the windows, casting its warmth on Beatrice's face, but even this could not dispel the sorrow etched on her features.
Her father and brother had been trying to comfort her, except Richard seemed to be avoiding her for some unknown reason. Nevertheless, she still felt anxious and stressed.
Beatrice lived in constant fear of when and where the Devil would come to claim her again. The thought terrified her, but she knew that giving up and completely succumbing to him was not an option.
Her heart and soul were still fighting despite her body having already given in to his touch.
