"How could she?" Beatrice seethed inwardly as she watched her mother attending to the guests.
Beatrice entered the grand hall of Devonshire Manor, the spacious and elegant room was filled with ornate chandeliers, luxurious tapestries, and polished marble floors.
The room was buzzing with chatter and laughter. As she walked towards the center of the room, she noticed the eyes of the other guests following her every move. As she made her way to a table, she overheard a group of women talking in hushed tones.
"Duchess Alicia still dares to show her face in social events after all that book?" saidL
Marchioness Bianca, sneering slightly. She looked at Beatrice and wink at her.
The other let out a giggle, "Oh my, she must have great self-confidence." She raised an eyebrow and added, "Or maybe she has no shame."
