An S-class mission

(POV: Uchiha Katashi)

It's been six months since the fight with the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, honestly, it was one of the hardest battles I ever fought no matter how good I am in close combat but fighting two of the swordsmen was too much, I was injured and it took me one month to recover properly.

For the past few days, I have been sparring with Okita regularly, this kid is talented he is good at Ninjutsu and Taijutsu. Saigetsu family members were always talented just like the previous Jonin commander Okita's Grandfather, as for Saigetsu Shin, he may be an Ex-chunin but whenever I see that guy, I always get a feeling that there's more to him he always has this calm and calculative demeanor.

Okita is close to becoming a Jonin level, he just needs the last push it's rather odd that he has not been made chunin till now, I know that there's a war going on most of the promotions are done after the war but still, the kid has a lot of experience hell even some Jonins can't compare with him. It's as if someone is stopping him from getting promoted anyways, we will soon get our answers as next week we will be going back to Konoha, we started with a 2 month-long mission but ended up with a two-year-long mission, time sure flies.

"Jonin Uchiha Katashi you are being summoned by the base commander" both I and Okita stopped our spar and looked towards the guy who said it.

"I'll be there" hearing the answer the guy nodded and went away.

"Looks like I need to go, we'll spar later Okita"

"I guess we are getting a new mission captain" Okita said

"Maybe, we'll know once I go there" I said with a shrug.

(POV: Saigetsu Okita)

After some time, Captain came back from his meeting with the base commander, and we got an urgent mission the captain was briefing us about the mission.

"This mission is an S-rank mission we will be transporting this scroll to the main base of the mist front" captain said and we saw the large scroll he was holding.

"What is inside the scroll that makes it an S-rank mission just to transport it?" Ryuu asked

"The scroll contains cipher codes of Missions and orders directly given by the Hokage for the main base on the Mist front, it also contains the detailed plans and operations to perform against the Mist in the war" Captain said

"Why are they sending such vital information in scrolls can't they just contact directly or relay information through chakra transmission?" I said

"No, they can't cause the information is just too much also chakra transmission can only be done in a limited area we can't contact from one nation to another nation" Captain said

"Now listen carefully, there are enemies everywhere in the Land of Waves especially after the mist lost five of their swordsmen there are a lot of skirmishes happening if we are lucky, we won't encounter any enemies but if we are unlucky, well we have to make sure that this scroll gets to the main base" Captain said

After the briefing, we started to get ready for our mission, the main base was half a day-long journey we departed quickly it was still morning so we would reach the main base by the evening.

As we started moving, we didn't encounter any enemies for three hours.

"Guys I am sensing some people ahead probably enemies" Ryuu said

Everyone halted all three of us looked at Captain for further orders.

"How many are they?" Captain asked

"Four people but I can also sense some more from their directions can't say how much" Ryuu said

"So, they are one team and may also have some reinforcements, we won't fight them our main priority is transporting this scroll so we will avoid engaging with the enemies once we get closer to the main base we can just ask for the reinforcements" Captain said

Thus, we started avoiding our enemies by changing our routes it happened like this for one hour.

"Captain it's a big problem we are surrounded by the enemies it seems all those enemy teams we were avoiding chased us together and now we are surrounded from all directions" Ryuu said

"How many are they can you sense them, Ryuu?" Captain asked

"Yes, there are around thirty or more if they are a 4-man team like us then there must be seven to eight teams like that who have surrounded us from all directions"

"How did they find us and so many of them at the same time…" Aika said but was cut off by Captain Katashi "Maybe it was our unlucky day today, but no matter what we have to fight them"

"Okita you are the only one besides me who can move fast with that speed technique of yours so I want you to take this scroll to the main base and ask for reinforcements while we hold off the enemies, even though the base is not that far but it's still far enough for them to not notice my signal for reinforcement even Ryuu can't contact them" Captain said

"What?! No captain, I can't leave you guys here we should move together" I replied

"Okita you know it's impossible there's no other way, I can't go because I will be holding the enemies, Aika and Ryuu are not fast like you and we can't let the enemy get the scroll it's the only option you have to go and come here with the reinforcements then only we can all survive" he said

"But-"

"Okita it's an order, I believe you can do it" Captain said

Both Aika and Ryuu were looking at me with confident gazes as if saying that they believe me too.

I hated this it was a gamble if I will be any minute late then they can lose their life if only I was stronger…sh*t I hate this feeling.

"Okita you have to go now the enemies are closing in" Captain said while handing me the big scroll.

"Best of luck Okita" Aika said

"Yeah, don't worry we'll hold them off" Ryuu said

"Okita if something goes wrong make sure to destroy the scroll at all costs" Captain said

Seeing Captain's serious gaze, I nodded to him and then said my farewells to Aika and Ryuu and departed from there while the others directly attacked the enemies to distract them so that I could get away from the enemy circle.

Meanwhile at the Mist Shinobi's side

"Sir it seems one of the Konoha ninjas is running away he is going in the direction of Konoha's main camp"

"What about the rest?"

"They are charging at us"

"Hmm…he must be going there to ask for reinforcements, contact one of our teams to go and dispose of him"

"Yes sir"
