010. The Fast and the Furious II

When Jiang Chen mentioned the steering failure, Black Widow leaned out of the window, firing off several shots before settling back inside and grabbing the wheel. She tried turning it herself—no luck.

The steering really is busted!

The car, still hurtling at breakneck speed, showed no signs of slowing. If they didn't do something soon, they were both doomed.

"Quick! Hit the brakes!" Black Widow ordered.

Jiang Chen stomped on the brake pedal, but nothing happened.

"They're not working either," he said helplessly. "Maybe it was that last hit..."

Black Widow glanced at him, her expression deadpan. "Didn't you say you were lucky?"

The sarcasm in her voice stung a bit, and Jiang Chen couldn't help but frown. Isn't my luck supposed to be 100%? Why was everything going wrong?

System, you're not screwing me over, right?

"Jump!" Black Widow's sharp voice snapped Jiang Chen out of his thoughts.

"Jump?" he repeated in disbelief. At this speed, jumping out of the car was a death sentence. For a super-spy like her, maybe not—but he was just a regular guy. If he jumped, he'd probably die on impact.

"If we don't, we'll both die in this car," Black Widow stated coldly, her patience thinning.

Jiang Chen understood the logic, but the odds didn't look great for him. She might survive, he thought, but I definitely won't.

Before he could process further, the cars behind them were back in full pursuit. Black Widow fired several more shots, causing one of the enemy vehicles to veer off the road and explode in a fiery wreck.

Jiang Chen took a deep breath. Has my luck really run out?

Just then, the system's familiar mechanical voice chimed in his head.

"Ding! The system detects the host's current luck at 100%. Don't worry."

Jiang Chen frowned. Seriously? Things didn't feel particularly lucky at the moment.

"Ding! Trust in the system. It's 100% reliable!"

Jiang Chen exhaled, somewhat reassured.

"Jump!" Black Widow ordered again, her voice growing colder.

Jiang Chen simply shook his head, gripping the wheel. "Let's leave our fate to Lady Luck."

Black Widow, clearly frustrated, snapped, "Luck runs out."

But Jiang Chen didn't move. Despite the chaos around them, he remained eerily calm.

Is this guy insane? Black Widow thought, eyes narrowing. Did he seriously believe luck would save him?

She wasn't about to stick around and find out. Without another word, she reached for the door handle, ready to jump out and leave him behind.

Just then, a bullet whizzed past, hitting the side of their car with a loud bang. More shots followed, but all of them missed.

Black Widow cursed under her breath. These guys have terrible aim.

She leaned out of the window, taking careful aim at one of the black cars beside them. One shot, straight to the head—perfectly executed.

"That's how it's done," she muttered to herself with a smirk.

Turning back to Jiang Chen, she spoke coldly. "If you want to die, I'm not staying here with you."

But just as she moved to jump, she noticed something strange. One of the cars driven by their pursuers, now driverless thanks to her shot, was swerving uncontrollably. To her horror, it was headed straight for them.

The unmanned car slammed into their vehicle, sending them into a 90-degree spin—directly toward the S.H.I.E.L.D. building.

Black Widow's eyes widened in disbelief. How did that just happen?

And the surprises didn't stop there. Despite the high-speed chase, their car, now pointing in the right direction, suddenly began to slow down. Gradually, it coasted forward, finally coming to a gentle stop right in front of the S.H.I.E.L.D. building.

She was speechless.

Turning her head slowly, she looked at Jiang Chen, who sat beside her, an expression of quiet satisfaction on his face.

In her mind, two words echoed: Unbelievable.
