Inside a dark room, a man lay asleep on the bed in the middle of the room. He was wearing pajamas that soothed the cold of the night. Summer was in full swing in this place, so just a pair of pajamas was enough to ward off the cold.

The room, darkened by the dim light because it was early in the morning, was suddenly illuminated by a white strip that appeared. As the strip appeared, the cold inside the room increased, making the man lying on his back shiver.

Although he slept peacefully a moment ago, the cold woke him up, and he muttered, "Why is it so cold? It seems that global warming has really changed the weather. Summer has become so strange."

Lucien tossed and turned, intending to look for a sheet to cover him well and continue sleeping peacefully, but suddenly sat up in shock.

'Something's wrong. Isn't it supposed to be June in the middle of summer? How can it be so cold?'

He sat up and looked around in confusion. The three-screen gamer PC he used to play games and do college work was nowhere in sight.

The spacious room was empty except for the desk in front of it, a small closet, a mirror, and a desk with a few objects. In addition to the window through which the golden rays of the sun filtered in. 

'Have I been kidnapped?' He thought confusedly.

The environment seemed to match that thought. But typically, a kidnapping involves a gag, hands tied, lying on the floor, or sitting in a chair and having someone watching you.

No kidnapper would provide such a comfortable place for his hostage.

'What kind of kidnappers' Lucien chuckled at the thought.

But something didn't quite add up. Why would he be kidnapped? He wasn't the son of a millionaire or any influential person. He was just a simple college student who was exploited in his job for a few dollars and spent most of his time playing on his computer.

'What would they gain by kidnapping me? Could it be that they want to sell my organs?' An indescribable fear began to grip Lucien's body.

That was the most likely scenario considering his social status, which was that of a simple student. If it wasn't to sell him for parts, what else would it be for?

'Maybe it could be to use me as a lab rat in some strange place, like in fantasy novels.'

Now fully awake, Lucien examined his surroundings and tried to figure out where he was.

His gaze fell on the mirror on the wall. He got up from the bed and approached the mirror. Looking at his reflection, he was astonished.

In the reflection, he saw a face with delicate features, long jet-black hair, and some white locks intermingled with crystal blue eyes.

"Who is this person?" Lucien exclaimed in confusion.

Despite the initial shock, the face looked strangely familiar... He looked at the black hair with a few white strands in his hand falling in front of his face. It was very different from his original hair.

Lucien looked at the ID card on the desk. He noticed the letters were like alien writing before changing from alien to something familiar. Then, it became legible.

The identity card read as follows:

"Kane Jineman... Twenty-two years old... Birth March 28, 2000."

Lucien felt his whole world go dark, and he began to get dizzy. He sat back on the bed, lowered his head, and put it in his hand.

Kane Jineman.

It was the name of one of the characters that appeared at the beginning of the game [Hero's Genesis], the game he was playing before he fell asleep last night.

This game was about the birth of the heroes in the five continents, with their scenarios and trials. The game's main character was a student who had been transported to the world in the first scenario.

As a revolutionary game, it attracted a large number of players around the world and has ranked in the top positions since its release.

Unexpectedly, he had transmigrated into the world [Hero's Genesis] and not as one of the main characters, but as one who is destined to die.

'Will things go like in the game?'

Lucien felt strangely calm. Once he got over the shock, his mind calmed down again. He began to recall the contents of the game.

On the continent of Maravalia, to be more precise, the city of Ignes is the place of the beginning of the story.

The city of Ignes is located east of the continent. Near the river of blood, which rises in the Aeternum Mountains, it passes through the city of Ignes towards the Black Sea in the east.

'Ignes City... If I remember correctly, there are good places to level up near here in the early stages.' Lucien smiled. 'Well, I'll think about that later.'

Lucien quietly relaxed and began to mutter as he looked up at the ceiling, 'Not that I'll miss much.

His life was not much. He was an orphan and didn't have much money. He also had no one to love to death and no friend for whom he would give his life. He went on living because he didn't want to die.

If he didn't, he might die.

He absolutely hated the idea of death. He was orphaned after his parents died in a car accident when he was very young.

He didn't like the concept of death at all. No matter what it was, even if it was wallowing in a pile of pig excrement, it was better than being dead.

'So, first, I have to make sure I get stronger so I don't die.' Lucien exhaled at length and accepted his current identity: "From this moment on, I am Kane."
