Chapter 72. Regrets

"It has been going on for a long time. Its only that your brain was so small to understand it. I can't wait to hold him in my arms and feel him again..." Aurora spoke. Alaric was gasping for air. Was she really joking around with such an important fact?

He was surely going to teach her lesson soon. How dare she slander his name? This was the second time. The first time was when they were twelve and newbies. He was gritting his teeth but he could not even move them.

He also could not understand what Rey was thinking at the moment. He was sure that the guy was already having dangerous thoughts. He could only wait and listen to what they were saying as he tried to calm his raging thoughts.

He heard Rey stand up and bent doing something he could not figure out.

"I will be heading back. And am not leaving you," Rey said. Alaric could not help but wonder what was going on such that he was in such a hurry.

"Does your mind have a loose screw?" Aurora asked.

"Maybe I got one," he said menacingly like a villain. Aric felt the hair on the back of his neck rise.

"Don't do anything stupid," Aurora said defensively. Alaric also said the same words in his mind.

"Am not leaving you," Rey said.

Alaric heard Rey's footsteps moving and finally reached where Aurora was sitting.

"What is that meathead trying to do?" He wondered as he tried to open his eyes but to no avail. He felt Aurora let go of his hand and move on the bed.

There was a slight silence and was followed by Aurora's scream. The scream came from a higher level than when seated. Had she stood up? There was something like fighting between the two.

"Put me down now! Alaric will never let you off when he realizes what you are doing," she said. Their footsteps seemed to be heading towards the door. Alaric almost stood on his feet but his body did not give in.

He felt his heart burning with rage. His blood boiled. How dare Rey lay hands on her? He even carried her from his side! He remembered Aurora's words and he promised he was not going to let him off. When he woke up, he would destroy Rey.

" What do you think he can do to me? Nothing much," Rey said. From his approximation, they were now at the door. He heard the question Rey asked and he tried to clench his fists and stand up but he failed.

Why regain conciousness if he could not move? Even doing an easy thing like opening the eyes or lifting a finger was currently impossible. They were heading out and he had to strain his ears.

" Do you think I will let you go off that easily?" She asked. He was glad she did not give in but he was angry that she did not try hard enough.

" Nothing you do could hurt me," Rey replied. Alaric wanted to clench his teeth but failed.

His anger slightly calmed down when he heard Rey's screams. It seemed they had stopped.

" I am not going to let you go no matter what you do," Rey said. Alaric wanted to shout at Rey. He gave up completely and just listened to the fading voices.

" That was to teach you a lesson," Aurora's voice was so low that he barely heard anything. He was going to destroy Rey. He dared take Aurora from his side... Before their voices finally disappeared, he could hear the change in tone of Aurora. It was merry. She was cheating on him...

Alaric finally calmed down. He saved his anger for later. He was not sure how long it would take for him to heal up. The physician had said twelve hours but he did not trust her. She had predicted him ten years. He was glad to prove them wrong.

He also wanted to know how long he had been unconcious. The two had gotten immediately after he regained conciousness and he had not even looked at the new changes.

His first shock was the new skill he had gained. All these skills he gained and he never got to use them. But he was sure that he was going to apply them very soon.

Stealth skill like the system said helped in going undetected. He wished that he had gained this skill earlier when he had gone for his first mission. Maybe he would have escaped the hyena. Remembering the hyena, he got angry.

That creature had done a number on him. He felt relieved when he remembered its meat. But he again got angry when he remembered Rey laughing at him for eating a hyena. Were they not edible?

'Sarah, what's more about the stealth skill?' Alaric asked. He had missed Sarah's voice. She had not spoken during the notification which had slightly caught him by surprise. She would have taken that chance to make fun of him.

There was silence and a notification appeared after a while. Alaric again did not know what to think. Sarah never took more than a second to answer a question. Was she injured?

[ANSWER]- Stealth skill has many functions. One could use it to seal their aura. Stealth skill helps one have light footsteps that can go undetected. In short it makes sure that no sound can leave your body when stealth skill is applied.

Sarah's voice came and he sighed. She had him worried over her.

[...]- I don't need the worry of a weak master. You have wasted two months on this bed. I wonder if that makes you happy.

Sarah's words caught him off guard twice. First,she had rejected his worry. Then she said he had been asleep for two months. How could he? He felt angered with himself as he made his resolve.

Get stronger so that no one would put him through such pain. If he was strong, no one would hurt him or his friends. He calmed his mind not bothering to answer Sarah. She probably would not answer him if he replied.

Just how had he created such an arrogant and disobedient system. He went forward and saw the new changes. He had 25 filled meridians. Just how generous could the universe be? Was he going to walk over the Cryptic Plane? Not that he minded. The easier the better.

He was actually glad he was boosted for he knew that his friends would have caught up with him. But that did not change the fact that they worked for it. He gave a proud smile in his brain as he continued.

There were little changes in the rest but he shivered when he saw the notification about the dual cultivation technique. Just when had he cultivated and with who?

'Sarah, when did I cultivate the technique?' He asked.

There was no way he could have cultivated it while unconcious. He would need a female for the technique to get integrated in him.

[...]- the system has been granted permission to work on its own...

Alaric did not hear the rest of the words as his thoughts went astray. Had Sarah gone human and made the technique happen? Was it that he had had some intimacy with a system?

[...]- Get your thoughts straight or I won't bother explaining anymore. The system has the permission to act as an independent body. During the events of the tunnel, I activated the technique just few minutes before Aurora was affected by the psychedelic.

The requirments for the technique were met when Aurora was on top of you and when she made you ***. That was a major requirement. The technique was later sped up when she kissed you.

Even though it was long fetched, the technique was integrated in both of you. During your fight, Aurora was just finishing integrating the tecnhique. When you were defeated, she finally was free from it.

Since the hedgehog was defenseless, she took just one strike to get rid of it. The technique will be useful in cultivation. It helped Aurora open few meridians and so did it open that large number for you.

The results were not as significant for Aurora as for you because the technique is an immortal one. That does not mean that it is useless on her though. She is going to have a better time cultivating.

The technique helps you create new skill and enhance the ones bestowed to you. It can also help in evolution of the techniques.

The system hopes that subject has not forgotten about the payments for the extra knowledge bestowed to you during your critical juncture. Subject has been given a one night rest and should head for the mission the following day.

Alaric fetl dry tears fall from his eyes. He was going to stop making promises during critical moments. He now had put himself through hell. He also could not reject any request or command given by the system.

He has just been reunited with his friends...
