Hearing this the old man, broke out of his thoughts, still having that smile and replied, "You can call me Elder Xue".
'Xue Feng' , was his actual name. He didn't know who named him, but it was the name that was etched in his memory since birth. Eventhough he found it very weird, he sticked with it. Thinking it was the name that he chose for himself.
"Elder Xue!?", the middle aged pondered a bit. Though the surname Xue was not very rare, it was not common either. Atleast on this part of world. However, he soon abandoned his thoughts as he lost interest in this matter. He didn't want to stick his nose in a Mortal's life.
The fact is, is that the middle aged is actually an Immortal who left the sect to make his son experience the mortal world. Even though, he could fly but he didn't want to ruin the experience for his son. Moreover, he was born as mortal and joined the sect when he was young so he still had some connections to the mortal world. That is the reason, he wasn't all too arrogant when he met mortals.
Xue Feng was currently talking to the boy, who kept on asking questions, but he still smiled and answered all of them. After an hour long ride they almost reached docks of the neighbouring Xia City. He came to this place very often, so he made some friends though they were also old like him.
When they reached the dock, the middle aged man looked at him and gave 2 silvers for the ride. Xue Feng was shocked when he received it. As the ride normally costs about 5 bronze. And this 2 silvers were equal to 200 bronze which eventhough was not much, it was still almost a month's worth of income. The middle aged man looked at him, laughed and said, "Keep it, and that extra was for keeping up with this talkative little brat." Hearing this the boy giggled, and left the boat along with his father.
Xue Feng didn't try to argue with the man, as he thought that this 2 silver was probably nothing for that man and thanked that person. However, looking at the pair leaving, he guessed that they were probably father and son. He saw pride in the middle aged man's eyes when he talked about the young boy, and also the caring and affection that he had for him.
Thinking about this, Xue Feng was a bit jealous, after all he never knew who his parents were, neither did he know how they looked like nor what their names were. Soon, he came out of his reverie as he saw a man, coming near his boat, and asking him if he is available to travel to another place. Xue Feng agreed and sailed the boat again, still lost in his thoughts.
When the day the was almost reaching it's end, he dropped his last traveller in his location and left towards for his home again.
