Why Are You Laughing?

He proceeded downstairs and walked out to see almost all the maids standing beside each other, gossiping about something.

He glanced at the guards running up and down, and an indifferent expression emerged on his face.

Knowing what was causing the ruckus, he approached one of the guards as though he had no idea what was going on, but before he could say ask anything, another royal guard rushed up to him and bowed deeply in respect to him.

"General, his majesty requests your presence in the hall."

He reported, and Luthiel slightly nodded his head.

He made his way toward the royal hall and stepped in once his presence was announced.

He walked straight to the stairs that lead up to the throne and bowed deeply to the emperor and William.

"Do you have any idea of what is going on?" The emperor asked.

"No, your majesty." He shook his head.

The emperor stared at him and slowly nodded his head.

"I see. Alright. I want you to look into it and find out who murdered Celvit. Celvit has been the royal physician for years now, so he deserves to at least get justice. To find the murderer."

He assigned, and Luthiel bowed before turning around and walking out of the royal hall.

He strolled back to his chamber, and when he walked in, his brows furrowed at not seeing Yennefer inside.

"Yennefer." He called, but no response came.

He took a look around and proceeded to the room where Damian resides.

He pushed the door open to see Yennfer seated on the table with her legs crossed, listening to what Damian, who was seated on the chair, was saying.

They both turned their heads and went silent the instant their gaze fell on Luthiel.

Damian, who was obviously still angry, looked away from him, and, noticing the tension in the air, a suspicious look ensued on Yennefer's face.

"Is…everything okay?" She inquired, but no one responded.

"What are you doing here?" Luthiel questioned her.

She shrugged and let out a soft breath.

"Nothing, I just felt bored," She replied as she climbed down from the table.

Luthiel glanced at Damian, who had a scowl on his face, and strode towards Yennefer.

He grabbed her by the wrist and walked her out of the chamber.

"Leave!" He said to her, and before she could react, he shut the door in her face, causing her eyes to blink in confusion.

Luthiel turned around and ambled towards Damian.

He gazed at him, and Damian, who was annoyed by his gaze, glared at him.

"What is it?" He questioned.

"I need your help.", Luthiel replied, and Damian immediately shut his eyes, trying to suppress the anger that instantly built up in him.

"I can't believe you." He said.

Luthiel let out a long breath and moved to sit down on the chair opposite him.

"I…want to apologize." He spoke.

Damian arched his brow at him. "Then apologized. and properly too. If not, I won't accept your apology." He scowled.

"I am sorry about what I did. I was wrong, and I should have thought about your feelings first." He apologized. "I want to correct something as well."

"Damian, I do not dislike you. Not when I was a kid, and not now. I may appear as though I don't like you at all, but that's not true."

"I know I may seem really cold all the time and rarely speak to you, but... that's just my personality. It does not mean that I don't care for you or appreciate you. After all, you took care of me." He explained.

"So… I am very sorry and I promise it won't happen again. Neither will I ever threaten you over the freedom thing. I promised to help you get your freedom, and I will do that. Even if you didn't ask me for help, I would still willingly do it. It's the least I could do for everything you have done for me, right from the time that I was a kid."

He clarified.

Damian stared at him and cleared his throat.

A slow smile formed on his face. "Well, I forgive you." His smile widened.

'Thank you." Luthiel appreciated.

"So what is the help that you need from me?" Damian inquired.

"Well… His majesty already knows about Celvit, and he wants me to bring the culprit, which is me. Now I need to figure out what to do. So I need your help." He clarified.

Damian abruptly began to chuckle, causing a perplexed expression to emerge on his face.

"Why are you laughing?" He questioned.

"Well, didn't you think of the consequences when you took that action? You're quite impulsive, you know." Damian shrugged.

Luthiel lowered his head, knowing that Damian was telling the absolute truth.

He rubbed his temple in annoyance, and a low breath fled Damian's nose.

"Well, you will have to let me think of a way to get you out of this mess." He shook his head in disbelief and got up from the chair.

He began to pace back and forth and abruptly stopped once it seemed like an idea had popped into his head.

"Have you considered framing it on one of the slaves?"
