Chapter 16: Did you fall in love with me yet?

The day of the staff dinner finally arrived.

Yi Fei was in the ballroom of Wu Hotel to oversee the preparation of the hall for their staff dinner. A group of students was doing a full rehearsal for their dance performance.

At the same time, Wu Chen walked around to each department of Wu Hotel for his daily inspection. He was getting restless because he still has not resolved the issue of the mole inside the hotel.

Wu Chen's secretary was a short man in his early thirty named Liu Shi. When Wu Chen walked, he was walking quite fast, and Liu Shi's short legs could not keep up with him.

Since early in the morning, for some unknown reason for Liu Shi, Wu Chen had been agitated and grumpy. This caused the poor Liu Shi to distance himself a bit from his grumpy boss.

When Wu Chen and Liu Shi reached the ballroom, they could see that preparation was taking place inside the hall. Wu Chen wanted to walk away from the ballroom when he heard a familiar voice.

"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Then papp! Your leg should be like this for balance… balance… Ah Ran, I told you… your leg should be like this. Follow me. Ah Yu and Ah Li, stop rolling your body… Don't make this 18SX performance" Yi Fei was instructing a group of teenagers.

Wu Chen watched from the door. His eyes were on the shorty who was wearing a dark baggy shirt on the stage. Wu Chen remembered that shorty wore a loose shirt the first time he saw her.

Beautiful girls always flocked around him, and all the girls liked to wear revealing clothes, but shorty did not. He remembered that shorty wore a blouse buttoned up to her neck too.

Yi Fei did not see Wu Chen, who was standing by the door. She was busy instructing the performance. Since it was a full rehearsal, everything needed to be perfect.

"Okay, DJ, please play The Eve" Yi Fei snapped her fingers, and she was also making the dance moves to The Eve by EXO.

Yi Fei had long been fascinated with Zhang Yixing. So when she found out that Zhang Yixing was a part of EXO, she began to stan the EXO group as a whole.

Wu Chen continued watching with Liu Shi beside him. She did not expect that shorty could dance too. Liu Shi wanted to ask Wu Chen whether they should continue their visit to each department, but he couldn't bring himself to ask Wu Chen.

Liu Shi kept on looking towards Wu Chen's direction then something unexpected; Wu Chen smiled. It was the kind of smile that Liu Shi never sees in the five years he has been working as a secretary to Wu Chen.

Liu Shi looked at the group of people on the stage, but he cannot pinpoint the person who made his boss smiled.

"Brother… Brother… What are you doing here? Are you here to watch me?" Wu Chen, who had no intention of staying and watching, was startled by Yi Fei, who was shouting blatant questions from the stage.

Yi Fei started running from the stage to the door. The baggy shirt made her seem like a flapping baby chick. She looked cute.

"Brother, what are you going to be tonight?" Yi Fei asked excitedly. She knew that Wu Chen was going to be at the Staff Dinner as NaNa's partner.

"I'm going to be myself."

Frankly, Wu Chen did not want to go to the dinner, but NaNa kept on wailing, saying how she was the only forever alone lady during the dinner because no one wanted to be her partner. She was somberly saying all these.

Wu Chen did not see any problem with him attending the dinner, so he agreed with her.

"You should be Mamoru since NaNa is Sailor Moon. We have a big present for the best dresser" Yi Fei was blooming when she thought of the present.

Wu Chen rolled his eyes, and then, he smiled.

"Argh, brother, this is the first time I saw you smile so handsomely. Oh my God… my heart… my soul…" Yi Fei clutched her heart. She was overreacting again.

"So, did you fall in love with me yet?" Wu Chen decided to play along and asked spontaneously. His smile widens.

Yi Fei stopped overreacting when she heard the question. She looked at the smiling Wu Chen in front of her.

Suddenly, the noise around her stopped. She saw Wu Chen smiled in slow motion.

Liu Shi was long forgotten.

As a minor side character, he stood in a few distances away from Wu Chen. He saw the exchange between the unknown lady with his boss. He was surprised to see that all the bad mood traces from his grumpy boss this morning was now gone. Now his grumpy boss had become the all-smiley boss.

Wu Chen did not realize this, but the view from a particular forgotten minor side character, the minor character, could see that Wu Chen looked at the lady lovingly, like someone who looked at their pet cat longingly.
