Chapter 11--Split Chapter

(Rian’s P.O.V)

After a relatively peaceful night’s sleep, it’s time for us to get back to our kingdom and I can’t wait to have my little mate naked under me and marking her. It’s been torture having to wait this whole week, but I wanted our first-time mating to be at home as well as when I marked her. Last night was by far the hardest for me; in more ways than one. I had to fight Stark for control while Morrigan stood in front of me, completely naked, and then she tried to strike up a conversation! It was like her brain couldn’t make her body move because of how embarrassed she was. I was glad that she chose not to bring up what had happened and left the situation well enough alone. Morrigan is still asleep, so I take this time to get ready and make sure Killian is awake and to fill him in on the conversation that I had with Leonard and his counselors and elders.

I knock on Killian’s door and within seconds he answers the door.

“Morning Ri, what’s up? I was about to finish packing.”

“I was just going to clue you in on what the discussion was last night with King Leonard, his counselors, and elders.”

Killian steps aside to let me through, I walk in and take a seat at the table that is near the window that looks over the gardens. It takes about a half-hour to thoroughly go through what was discussed.

“I assume we are going to offer aid to them if this turns into a war?”

“Yes, Leonard will be sending me the contract for an alliance either tomorrow or the following day.”

“This is all so strange; I hope this doesn’t amount to anything, but I have a bad feeling about this Rian.” Killian states.

“So do I bro, but let’s get back home first and get settled back there before we get even more into this,” I replied.

Killian nods and I get up to go to my room and finish my packing and get ready to head back home. Morrigan’s things have already been loaded into our car and she is hugging her parents and siblings goodbye. Tears are being shed and whispers of “I love you’s” and “I’ll miss you’s” are being exchanged. Finally, I shake hands with Leonard, and we make our way out to the car. Morrigan sits in the middle row with me while Killian drives. She’s trying her best not to full-on sob, but I know it’s hard for her to leave her family.

“Mo grá, come here,” I tell her, as I pat my legs, indicating that I want her to sit on my lap.

She nods her head and crawls over to me, getting on my lap, she snuggles her face into my chest as my arms come around her. I softly rub her back and tell her that we can come back and visit her family whenever she wants and that we will be back in about a month anyway for her sister’s joint wedding. She nods her head, and soon the tears stop and her breathing evens out and I know she is asleep. It’s not a very long drive back to Máni from Eferhile, only about 3 hours, so I take this time to enjoy the cuddle with my mate and drift off to sleep still holding her in my arms.

(Morrigan’s P.O.V)

“Baby, we’re home.” Rian coos to me.

I hadn’t realized that I had fallen asleep, but crying does that to you. I suppose I was going to miss my family. Especially my sisters and father; they are my closest friends and confidants. I lift my head from Rian’s chest and see that we are entering the grounds of a huge mansion. It's a beautiful log cabin that complements the fact that it’s built in the middle of a forest. Tall redwoods and other various species of trees surround us, and the smell of pine hits my nose and I can’t help but take a deep breath when we get out of the car. The gravel drive complimented the fact that we were in the middle of nature, with beautiful flowers and shrubs planted in front of the mansion. I hear a shriek and bend into a defensive stance and start to bring my magic forward in case of an attack. And Goddess Danu was there ever; a tall slender woman with Rian’s eyes and chocolate brown hair came running towards us shrieking like a banshee.

“Oh, my Goddess, you're home, and thank the Moon Goddess that you and Morrigan are mates.” The woman screeches, as she comes barreling into me and grasping me in a tight hug.

Oh, shit, this is Rian’s mother, Supreme Luna Roisin.

“Mother, please release my mate before you kill her,” Rian tells her.

“Oh, I’m so sorry dear I don’t realize my strength sometimes.” Luna Roisin says with a chuckle as she lets me go.

“It’s okay Supreme Luna Roisin, I understand that you are excited,” I reply with a soft smile.

“I’m going to say this once, and only once, Morrigan. You do NOT call me Supreme Luna. You are my daughter now and I’m retired. YOU are the Supreme Luna now, or you will be once, you and Rian mate and mark one another.” She says sternly.

My face flushes pink out of embarrassment of her straightforwardness, Goddesses above, I think my face will be permanently pink living here between her and Rian.

“Mother, that will happen when Morrigan is ready. So, please stop embarrassing my mate.” Rian says as he pulls me to him and hugs me.

“Fine fine, I will keep my mouth shut but I want grandpups! I need a baby to hold.” She says, and my face went from pink to tomato red.

“ROISIN!” A male voice booms.

A tall man with short salt and pepper hair comes walking down the front steps of the house. He looks like Rian; covered in tattoos, well built, with a strong jaw and broad shoulders. As he gets closer to us, I can see that he is just as tall as Rian and devilishly handsome, a silver fox if you will.

“Roisin, stop embarrassing the poor girl or she will hightail it out of here. Hello darling Morrigan, I’m not sure if you remember me. It has been some time since I saw you last but I’m Phelan, Rian’s dad.” He says, giving me a warm smile and shaking my hand.

“Yes, of course I remember you, Supreme Alpha Phelan, it’s a pleasure to see you again.”

“Now now dear, there are no formalities between us, plus, like my wife, I am retired and no longer the Supreme Alpha. That falls onto Rian now.”

“Yes, I’ve heard about your retirement and your new hobby. How are you healing?” I ask, curious about his heliskiing accident.

“Oh, I’m fit as a fiddle and ready to get back at it, without getting impaled though. Roisin doesn’t want me to continue, but I have never felt more alive than in the moment that I dropped out of the helicopter.” He says, with a twinkle in his eye.

“Yes, and the next time you do this you won’t end up impaled, you'll wind up dead from falling off the side of the mountain. Your epitaph will read as follows: ‘Here lies Phelan—loving father, husband, Alpha, and grade-A dumbass who can’t ski for shit.’” Roisin huffs.

I can’t help the laugh that escapes me because the sheepish look that Phelan is giving Roisin is not reminiscent of an Alpha at all, more like a child being scolded because he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Rian just sighs and shakes his head.

“Alright, if you two are done bickering I’m going to take my mate into the house and show her around. We’ll see you guys at breakfast tomorrow.” He states, putting his hand on the small of my back, while Killian grabs our things out of the car and tells a servant where to put the bags.
