I Ruined Mr. Tyrant's Wedding

Allison Gray is Miss Wrecker. She gets paid for ruining relationships. But she has one rule to this job: Never ruin a good relationship. So when she was offered a job to ruin Evan Mori's wedding, she took it and didn't hesitate. After all, it was only a marriage for business and the bride has a hidden lover. She portrayed her role perfectly and ruined the wedding day, but there's one big complication: Evan Mori turns out to be her new boss and the tyrant demands for compensation she can't afford: her hand in marriage. - "What exactly do you want from me, Mr. Mori?" "I told you, I want a bride. You took my bride, you bring me another one." She snickered. "You want me to become a matchmaker?" "No, sweetheart," he stood from his seat and leaned forward. Both his hands were flat on the table as he crouched and peered down at Allie's piercing eyes. Evan stared at her green eyes darkly. They were so alive like a lovely summer forest, yet at the same time they were unnervingly cold and fearless. He didn't like her defiance. "You will take her place. You will be my bride."

A Doll for a Wife

Marry him?

No. Allie could never imagine herself marrying Evan Mori. Not in her wildest dreams. His personality alone was giving her a headache. If she wanted to marry someday, she wouldn't choose a man anywhere near Evan.

"Let's meet again in two days, Mr. Mori. Thank you for your time."

She then stood up to leave the table. He only gave her a curt nod before she walked away.

Allie couldn't help but worry. Finding the perfect bride for Evan Mori wasn't impossible to do, but given the time frame, it would be a hard task to accomplish within a week!

As she headed to the exit of the building, Allie's mind was too occupied to notice someone coming from her left, and she bumped into him.

Two books fell on the floor, and the man immediately picked them up. Soon after, Allie met the man's eyes.

He smiled, "I'm sorry about that."

She was quick to reply, "No, I'm sorry, I wasn't watching my way."

"I wasn't watching mine either. I was looking at my phone."

The man was tall and good-looking. He carried a carefree aura with him, especially when he smiled. He looked casual in his white turtleneck and brown jacket. His longer-than-usual hair was parted in the middle, with the ends touching his eyebrows.

Something was oddly familiar about the man, thought Allie.

She was sure she had never met him before, though. But his face was kind of familiar.

She didn't say anything about it.

"Thanks. I'll go ahead," then she walked away. She didn't have time to think about why a random stranger looked familiar. Code Vision's future was in her hands now, and if she couldn't find a way to deal with Evan Mori, she would be doomed.

Allie hit the road with a stern face.

While driving, her phone rang. She put it on loudspeaker.

"Dear Allie, I have been trying to call you for almost an hour now, but you haven't been answering me!"

Allie rolled her eyes at the high-pitched voice from the other line. She had put her phone in 'Do Not Disturb' mode earlier when she was in her meeting with Evan, so she didn't know someone had been calling her.

"I was in a meeting."

"Did you forget that I will land today?!"

"Oh please, stop shouting."

"How could I not? I told you, I didn't tell Ron that I would be coming home! You promised to pick me up from the airport." It ended with an exasperated sigh.

"You should have called your husband to pick you up, then."

"Ugh! You're so annoying. I'm divorcing him, and you want me to call that prick?"

"Shut up. I'm driving. Almost there, so be patient, young madam."

Allie ended the call and soon arrived at the airport. It didn't take her long to find the woman waiting for her.

The young woman had wavy brown hair and was wearing a skater skirt and high boots while holding her luggage. With her stance and beauty, she could pass as a supermodel or an actress.

Spotting Allie, the woman immediately ran towards her and hugged her.

"I've missed you so much, Allie!"

It was Chloe, Allie's best friend. She had been overseas for her master's, and she just graduated.

"I don't think I can say the same."

Chloe pouted and playfully smacked Allie's arm.

"You are crazy! How could you not miss me when I was away for two years?"

Allie shook her head, smiling. Chloe had been her closest friend for years. They had known each other since they were in middle school, and for some reason, despite their opposite personalities, they managed to become the best of friends.

"You said last time that something big happened. Let's talk about it over dinner. I'm starving!"

They went to a diner they usually visited back then. Allie didn't eat anything and just ordered a drink since she already had her dinner.

"So what happened with your recent Redlip job?" Chloe whispered the last two words.

Allie told Chloe everything. There were barely any secrets between them.

"You mean you were the woman who ruined Evan Mori's wedding?!" Chloe's voice raised in shock.

Thankfully, the diner didn't have many customers at the moment, and they were sitting at a far table, so no one heard her.

"Tone down your voice, Chloe."

"You can't blame me, woman! My cousins were all over it, and they told me days ago, so it made me curious as hell. I mean, that is Evan Mori we're talking about. It's such big news!"

Chloe shook her head. "I can't believe you took the risk. Everyone's eyes were on his marriage, and you ruined it without leaving a trace. Weren't you afraid that he would have done his best to get evidence so he could sue you? Evan founded Lotus Tech, and he's a known computer genius. Even if Redlip has a team of hackers to make sure no footage or pictures come out, it was still a risky move, Allie."

"That wasn't a problem, Chloe. I know what I'm doing, and I know my own capabilities. There was no way he found anything that would point to me. But what's suspicious is, how did he know who I was at the wedding?"

Chloe nodded, her eyes narrowing as she stuffed her mouth with a piece of steak.

"I think he knew the bride's plan and bought someone from Redlip to go through the agents' files so he would know who was assigned to the job. I just don't know yet who betrayed Redlip like that. But I will surely get answers."

"You sure got a big problem, sister." Chloe shook her head, her cheeks swollen with food.

"What if Evan Mori wants to marry you just so he could get even? You don't know what goes on in his mind. He's smart, yes, but rich people could be petty. Maybe he just wants to make you suffer?" Chloe swallowed and sipped on her drink. She thought about it for a moment. "But why would he get married just because of that?

He obviously doesn't care about his ex-bride. Marriage is a serious thing."

Allie smirked.

"For him, marriage is nothing but business. No strings attached. He just wants a doll for a wife. Someone he could use to get his mother's company shares."
