I’m going on an exploration?

(Kiera POV)

Time had passed since the day I competed in that 'hard' tournament and all of the other tournaments had finished as well. I was putting on a black crop top and black cargo trousers before exiting the dorm.

I walked down the corridor and towards my preferred training room, indoor training room number two.

Scarlet wanted to talk to me and I wasn't bothered so I agreed to her request.

I was walking at a normal pace to the training room and people I walked past stared at me but when I looked over they would avert their gazes and quicken their pace. I didn't care what they did so I continued on my way like nothing happened.

Eventually I got to the training room and opened the double doors.

"I'm here, why did you want to talk in the training rooms though?"

Before I could say anymore a fir bullet was shot at me. I instantly dispelled it and transformed Adonis into its katana form and used [Flash steps] to get close to the one who attacked me which was obviously Scarlet although there was another person in this room.

"What's Nova doing here, did you not want to talk in private or does this involve her?" I questioned as I transformed Adonis back into the stone in my palm, otherwise known as its original form and moved my hands back to my sides.

"This does involve Nova but-" Scarlet stopped talking as she kicked the back of my knee and I used that to jump forwards and move my hand round to fire off an arrow made with my wind magic.

"This plan includes you, it's another trip." Scarlet said as she unsheathed her sword and cut through the air arrow to dispel it and jumped at me.

"Like the one when we went to the dungeon?" I said as I transformed Adonis back to a katana and jumped to meet Scarlets blade.

"Correct but also incorrect, we aren't going to a dungeon but it's just that last time we went on a trip you-"

"It's fine. I'll go." I said as Scarlet gave me a warm smile before rotating her body to kick my side.

I pushed her sword back with mine and moved one of my hands to grab her leg before twisting her ankle and letting go.

"Ouch- you didn't need to twist my ankle! Also no taking back what you just said Kiera!" She whined as she jumped back then bent down and rubbed her ankle.

"You were the one who wanted to fight, no? I have no intention of taking back what I just said anyway." I said back to her as she groaned.

"Anyway," Scarlet said as she sheathed her sword, "Nova is coming with us since you trained her a bit."

"That's fine with me though I'm no longer training her. It was only until the tournament. Speaking of, what place did you come in?" I said as I turned my head to face Nova and I transformed Adonis back in the process.

"I came in 3rd out of 73 I think?" She replied.

"Not bad then." I said.

"It was all from your teaching, thank you!" She said as she bowed.

"Oh, Kiera we are going to a place called Barself. Ever been there?" Scarlet said with a smirk.

"Why are we going there?" I said as I tilted my head a little.

"It's on an expedition with the royal family. They wanted some people from the academy to come along and learn. I've chosen Tess, Mio, Iris, Jayden, Nova, Catherine, Adam, You and Terry." Scarlet said as she folded her arms.

"I- Okay. Whatever." I said back as I went to sit down.

'She knows that is where I grew up. It's where most dragons live so I'm assuming they are bringing the strongest people they know along with them. Why did she want me to come? And why the royal family?" I thought as I lent back a bit.

Nova looked over at me.

"Have you been there before?" Nova asked.

"No." I replied.

Scarlet smirked, "Apparently the royal family wanted to explore more and wont initiate fights with the dragons but if anything attacks us they are bringing S - rank and above adventurers and knights."

"Okay." I replied.

'So it's not for dragon hearts but to explore my country? If that's all it is then I'm fine with it but if they harm my family-'

"Everyone has agreed on going so we will leave for the royal palace tomorrow morning so pack everything you need. That was all I wanted to say. Want to add anything Nova?" Scarlet said.

"No? I'm just excited. Also why did you pick me? Weren't the strongest students and ones who have lots of potential meant to go?" Nova asked.

"Because you were taught by Kiera."

"Is that the only reason?"

"No, no, you have potential as well but you haven't realised." Scarlet added.

"I'll be leaving then if that's all." I said as I got up and walked to the doors.

"Try not to worry Kiera." Scarlet said.

"It's fine. I'm fine." I said as I exited.

(Nova POV)

"Why are you anxious about Kiera? She is strong. I mean she beat 'the strongest' of Kerose academy in the tournament so now she is the strongest so what is there to worry about?" I asked.

"Ah, don't worry. It's nothing too important. Anyway, are you sure you're alright with coming? You will be the weakest there and will have to fight if danger appears like everyone else." Scarlet asked me.

'I'm scared, I really am but Kiera is coming. She will protect me, I'm sure of it. She has done it before. I'm scared of dragons and scary, powerful people and things and going on this trip there will be many of those but now Kiera is coming I can relax a little.' I thought but wouldn't say it aloud.

"I'm fine with that!" I said with a grin hoping to look confident in myself.

"If worst comes to worst we can just shove Kiera at the dragons. She can probably deal with them." I heard Scarlet mumble.

"Pardon?" I said a little confused at why she said that.

"Oh it doesn't matter." Scarlet replied.

"Alright then." I said as I scratched the back of my head.

"Want me to train you a bit before you go pack up?" Scarlet said to me.

"Really? Awesome! Yes, Yes please!" I said as I ran over to the rack of weapons and grabbed a sword.

"Let's begin then." Scarlet said as she unsheathed her sword.
