*Lucien*
I am lost in thought and feeling dejected at the fact that Genevieve has kids. She's a beautiful woman. There is no way she won't have guys who want her. With a bottle of scotch in one hand, I think about how I planned to win her back. Will she even take me seriously especially now that she has two kids? Am I even ready to raise kids?
I sigh, and conclude that I will be going back home for a few days to clear my head.
After four days of successfully ignoring my mother, I am not surprised to see her bursting into my office even though I informed my secretary that I want no visitors.
"Did you really think that a secretary I can fire, will keep me out of your office?" my mother asks the second she comes in.
I roll my eyes and reply, "I didn't think so, but I sure hope so. I hope you didn't scare the poor girl."
My mother waved her hand. "She'll survive."
My lips twitch, but I don't give my mother the satisfaction of smiling.
"Why are you here and avoiding me?" She asks immediately.
"I am here because this is my company so, I have to work," I say matter of factly.
My mother sits down and raises her eyebrow. "Okay, why are you avoiding me?"
"I am not avoiding you. I'm just busy," I reply.
She gives me a 'what do you take me for?look'
"Why aren't you trying to win back Genevieve back?" She asks.
I roll my eyes and reply, "I never tried to win her back mum. I just wanted to apologize for what I did back then."
My mother shakes her head. "I never knew I gave birth to an idiot," she says.
"What do you mean?" I ask genuinely serious.
"You know what I mean Lucien. I thought you finally have a little sense, and you will try to win your woman back," she says.
I turn mad, and I say, "She. Is. Not. My. Woman."
My mother rolls her eyes. "She has two children. Twins," I say angrily.
"And so?" My mother asks. "If you love her, that should not be a problem."
My eye twitches. "I'm not sure I'm ready to be a father mum."
"Even if they are yours?"
At that, my gaze sharpens, and I ask, "What do you mean by that?"
"If the kids are yours, won't you take care of them?" My mum asked.
"Obviously, but they aren't mine," I say.
"And you know that how?"
When I don't say anything, my mother continues, "Have you seen the kids? Do you knows their names? Their ages?"
"It doesn't concern me because they aren't mine!"
My mother glares at me, and coldly says, "Don't you dare raise your voice at me. I am not the reason you messed up so, I will appreciate it if you will arrange your tone, and respect me."
I sigh, and say, "I'm sorry mum."
Her eyes softens, and she says, "I know you are son."
She then slides a photo of two kids who happen to have light brown skin, as if mixed, and I notice the resemblance. The eye that looks like mine, the smile, and my eyes widen.
I look up at my mother whose eyes are shining with unshed tears, and she says, "You are looking at Gianna Leilani and George Lucian Evans."
My eyes shine with unshed tears, and I remember Genevieve's lies. "She lied to me."
My mother rolls her eyes and says, "And I would have done the same."
I glare at my mother, and she shrugs. "She called you countlessly and you didn't pick. She wanted you to know, but you sent her out of your life. Why do you think she would hav told you?"
I feel a bit guilty, but I say, "It still does not matter. I'm their dad. I should've known I have two kids."
"Yes, you should have, but you need to understand why she did what she did."
I am filled with fury, and although I understand what my mother is saying, I still disagree.
"Are you not angry at her for keeping your grandkids away from you? Your first ones for that matter."
She sighs. "I can't say I am happy. I am not, but I forgive her. I know why she did what she did. I understand even though it was not in my favour. I wish she came to me, but I know why she did not."
"Mum stop looking at this rationally. How old are they?"
"Four, almost five."
"I have missed four years that I can never get," I say.
"It is not too late son. I understand why you are angry, but I hope you can be a bit merciful, and understand her side of the story. Try and bond with her, and win her back," my mother advises.
"I want nothing to do with her. My only concern are my kids that she did not tell me about."
My mother sighs. "You have to tread lightly Lucien."
I stand up, and say, "Mum, I'm done here. I have somewhere to be."
My mother nods, and the moment she leaves my office, It takes everything within me not to trash mu office. I called John, and say, "Hello, I need to be on my private jet to Connecticut."
"Okay boss."
I cut the call, and head straight to my driver who takes me to my jet.
It is time to see my kids, and the woman who lied to me.
Hey guys. I have been so happy and overjoyed seeing your kind reviews. I recently went to school, and I've been down and exhausted. With time, I will update more. I love you all so much❤️
