Chapter 80: Reward 2

Inside the shop, there were various weapons.

From sword types to short daggers and even rare swords not commonly found in this region.

As expected of Reiza, a regular weapon shop wouldn't have such a variety.

"Chloe, have you found something you like?"

"Well, I've been using a regular one-handed sword for a long time, so I think I'll stick with that. I was curious about the sword, but it seems difficult to handle."

"I see. I'm actually interested in the sword."

In reality, many of the game and anime characters in my memories used swords frequently. As a result, when I use a sword, I imagine the techniques those sword characters used and handle it with my own modifications.

"Jin, you're interested in the sword?"

"Yeah, I like the fact that it can only cut with one side. But since I've been using a one-handed sword all along, I don't know if I can handle it right away."

"If you're up for it, why not try something new? Besides, Jin, you're not short on money, right? So, shall we make both a sword and a one-handed sword?"

Upon hearing Reiza's suggestion, I decided to order two weapons, taking the sword in my hand again.

After that, we took measurements to make weapons that would fit our bodies. Once the measurements were complete, we were instructed to contact the castle when the weapons were ready, and we left Reiza's shop.

"Now then, our business here is finished. What do you think, Chloe?"

"Well, let's see... Oh, I wanted to report yesterday's events to Lady Fiene and them just in case. And I wanted to thank the coachman as well, so should we go and ask for him to deliver it?"

I thought Chloe's suggestion was a good idea. Chloe and I bought a large amount of carrots as a gift for the coachman and headed to the guild, carrying gifts for the coachman and horses from Reiza's shop.

Arriving at the guild, we went to the reception and had Lady Fiene called, then moved to the consultation room with her.

"We received a message from the royal castle, and we've heard the general contents. Thank you, Jin and Chloe."

"To find him before the soldiers, that's truly impressive, Jin. You're amazing."

We received words of praise from Lady Fiene and the others. Afterward, when we told them about the events in the dungeon, Lady Fiene and her team showed interest in the "abandoned ore golem."

"An ore golem powered by abandoned ore... Is that true?"

"Yes, it was tougher than a regular golem, and its abilities were quite high. Thanks to that, we lost our weapons."

As I said this, I showed them our broken weapons. Lady Fiene commented, "They broke cleanly."

"Thanks to the sword enduring, we are here now. It's truly an excellent sword that protected us until the end."

After finishing the report at the guild, we asked if the coachman was at the pickup point. We were told he had no work today yet, so we headed to the stable run by the guild.

In the stable, there were many horses, and other coachmen were taking care of their horses or performing maintenance on the wagons outside.

With directions from the guild, Chloe and I moved to where the coachman we knew was registered.

"Nels-san."

"Oh, Jin-san and Chloe-san? What brings you here in a place like this?"

The coachman we were indebted to, Nels, was taking care of the horses. When we called out to him, he looked a little surprised that we were here.

Well, that's understandable. This isn't a place where adventurers usually come, except for those who have contracted monsters as familiars or have their own horses. Regular adventurers don't have familiars, and horses are usually entrusted to coachmen unless they have a very specific reason to own one.

"We wanted to express our gratitude for yesterday."

"Thanks to you, we were able to find Mr. Julius safely. We really appreciate your help yesterday."

Following my words, Chloe continued, "Thank you very much," and we expressed our thanks.

"It's my job, so there's no need to thank me..."

"Even if it's your job, it doesn't change the fact that you saved us. Plus, your horse worked really hard yesterday, so we wanted to give you a token of our appreciation."

"A token of appreciation?"

"Yes, here are some freshly picked carrots for your horse. We thought this would be the best gift."

As I said this, I looked at the horse Nels was taking care of, and the horse wagged its tail happily, almost as if it understood. Seeing the horse's reaction, Nels accepted the large amount of carrots with a thankful expression.
