Rich names

Layla's expressions were urging her to spill the beans and break this suspense she was creating.

"You know… they told me that he's an excellent student, a topper. They found it from their networks." Her eyes were sparkling as she was practicing one of her liked activities.

"Hmm…Topper?" Lani nodded.

"There is a rumor but no one dares to speak it loudly..." Lani had lowered her voice. She was whispering. "...that he might have some connections with the Zou family."

"Isn't it... just an assumption."Layla shook her head. Then she remembered that he seemed to be rich. "Did something slip from your tongue?" Her eyes were looking at her sharply.

Lani gulped under her gaze. "Well… you see… I might have told them that… he has expensive stuff." She peeked at her darkened face. "He is from Imperial Garden High school." She added hurriedly.

"Lani...so what. His last name is not that rare." she sighed heavily. She has told her friend many times her habit could lead her to trouble, but…

Seeing her puppy look, Layla changed the topic. "Back to topic, if he's a topper then what is he doing here?"

"Well… I don't know. There's not much about him. " Hearing this, Layla's lip twitched. She wasn't sure about how she should react.

"I bet their little principal would be hopping mad." The principal of Imperial Garden High School was short heighted. Also, Layla was correct. He was so mad at Zou Haoran's absurd decision and even disappointed with his parents who didn't object a little bit for letting a young lad run wild. They had everything best that other schools do not have yet…

"*yawn* We'll talk about Caleb and Opal later. I'll sleep after lunch."

"Me too, she can knock on the door or can call if she doesn't return before we finish our food." Lani grumbled. She herself knew that it was not possible but this reason was not going to stop her from sleeping.

Despite complaining they had set their alarm a little early. In case she came; they should have told earlier but this was also fine this way they could finish their other works too. Lani was doing her homework while Layla was doing the same before she went out for her new part-time job.

*knock* *knock*

"Must be Opal. Coming." Layla went to open the door.

But the girl standing in front of her wasn't Opal rather someone whose face had similarities with Opal. "Hello, I'm Opal's elder sister Beryl Jin."

Right now, Beryl was sitting in the room on her little sister's chair observing every detail. The room was decent. The girls had their items placed tidily and neatly. It was just her sister's bed that was looking like a mess.

"So, how's my little sister doing?" Beryl asked, breaking the silence in the room. She didn't come here to scare her sister's roommates but to meet her.

"She's doing good, she was just missing her family yesterday." Layla replied. Now, she noticed the difference between both the sisters. Despite having some features in common, Beryl was more beautiful than Opal. Maybe her aura and confidence added a charm to her beauty. She looks mature and smart whereas Opal, innocent and kind. Sure enough, it was easier to approach Opal than her sister.

"Even her first day in the school was also good," Lani continued. "She and I are in the same class."

Beryl acknowledged the information given to her. "I remember two boys were also transferred with her. Hmm…?"

"Caleb Lin is in the same class as her whereas Zou Haoran is in a different class."

"Caleb is… I see." There was a strange light in her eyes but disappeared too quickly to be noticed by any of them.

Just then the door was opened and Opal walked in. She paused for a moment seeing a pleasant surprise waiting for her. Her face broke into the beautiful smile of a spoiled child. Her eyes were sparkling to see the sight of her sister. "Sister~" Like a kid, she jumped in her arms.

"I missed you." She broke into tears that were falling like pearls from her eyes. She was so happy that she couldn't help but cry. After all, her sister is usually so busy with her work that it's not easy for her to squeeze some time to spare.

"There, there I missed you too. Stop crying, you look horrible like this." Beryl said while patting her back. Her tone was filled with unconcealed love and caring.

"By the way, why are you so late?" She started teasing Opal's cheeks.

"Aww, Sis stop… I went to… the wrong room… by mistake."

"That's also common for someone new." Layla spoke from behind. Opal nodded her head. When she entered the building, everything was fine but soon paths started confusing her.

"You didn't even tidy your bed. Let me teach you." Beryl's voice made her look at her bed where the blanket was lying unfolded. She bit her lip.

With this, Beryl started telling her how to fold a blanket and fix the bed sheet that Opal had never done before.

When she finished, she directed her attention to others present in the room. "Layla, Lani, Why don't you come with us? We can have dinner together." She wanted to interact with them more.

"Elder sister Beryl, I would like to go with you both but I already have plans that I can neither postpone nor cancel. Maybe next time." Without any hesitation, Layla rejected expressing her sorrow for being unavailable.

On the other hand, Lani was a little hesitant. Truthfully, she did not want to go without Layla. Thus, she also rejected them stating her reasons or excuses she could think of.

Beryl could clearly see their unwillingness, so she didn't insist and left with Opal.

"Do you know…"

'She's at this again' Lani thought but didn't interrupt her.

"…Beryl is also a gemstone like Opal." Lani blinked her eyes trying to absorb what she was actually telling her.

"Really!?"

"Hmm, Emerald belongs to the Beryl family."

"What!! So that means even their names are rich like them." Remembering the outfit and fabric Beryl was wearing. And, of course, her heels… and her watch, that looked too expensive.

"Their surname too." Layla giggled.
