New Room

"Mrs. Park, neither I called you nor I directed you to act like this, here at this hour of the day. So how would I know that something like this would happen, let alone arrange someone beforehand? Please, speak with logic." Layla took advantage of the situation and reprimanded Mrs. Park. Her words had no filter at all. After all, Mrs. Park was having trouble using her brain properly.

"By the way, I forgot to mention but I'm a new student and I don't know any one of them since I haven't started attending classes officially. And, if you are unsatisfied with the decision, principal sir will make..." He paused for a second to take a good look at their faces. "...then feel free to call the police. I'm sure the law would be able to give an impartial decision." His voice was mellow and his smile was bright yet...

This was enough to prick Mr. and Mrs. Park causing a visible change in their expressions.

Calling the police was a huge matter when their own child wasn't completely innocent and had already turned sixteen. As for the girl in front of them, they had no clue about her current age.

"Shut up. It has nothing to do with you." Mrs. Park spitted her words. Her face was red along with her burning eyes.

Unfazed by her, he commented. "I am a witness who's telling the truth. And, my vision wasn't blocked by anything. I'm impartial." For a moment, his gaze fell on Olivia, mocking her for not telling the complete truth when she was standing right there. Maybe tears blocked her vision.

Olivia flushed with embarrassment. With her head lowered, her expression wasn't any good. She had never thought of seeing such a handsome boy. Too bad she ruined her first impression in his eyes.

It didn't take long for Mr. and Mrs. Park to realize that no matter what, they couldn't win over this boy. This boy's arrogance coupled with the principal's silence was enough to tell them that they are in a disadvantageous situation.

After Dr. Du dealt with the mess, he and Zou Haoran were in his office.

Today was a tiring day for him. He had to deal with an injured student's parents and had to come up with a negotiation. Now, he had to deal with Mrs. Zou. He can only hope that she wouldn't want him to do something against rules and regulations.

"Sir" Zou Haoran was handing over the mobile to the principal. "Mother is on the line." He raised his brows and accepted the mobile with a question on his face. "Due to security purposes," Zou Haoran answered, guessing his obvious question.

"Good evening Mrs. Zou"

"Good evening Dr. Du"

"How may I help you, Mrs. Zou?" He was slightly nervous inside.

"It's nothing much and not hard too, Dr. Du. You don't need to be nervous, Mr. Du. It's just that please don't treat these kids with any privilege. They are here to learn like other students of your school." It caught him by surprise. He never thought that she would ask something like this. 'Is she referring to morning's...'

" Ahem, certainly Mrs. Zou, they are now my students and they will be treated like everyone else in this school."

Hearing this Zou Haoran raised his eyebrow, not that he minds being treated equally but, his mother's request was out of his expectation.

"Thank you, Mr. Du. And, please don't forget about what we discussed beforehand. Have a good day."

"Don't worry Mrs. Zou. Have a good day" With this their conversation ended.

It was a relief for Mr. Du. 'Not every parent acts rashly.'

"All done?" Caleb asked seeing Zou Haoran coming out of the school gate. He was waiting for him outside. He was sitting in the car with his luggage.

"Hmm, It's done. It really took me a lot of time." Zou Haoran replied, looking at his wristwatch.

"Let's go before it's too late. After all, we have no idea how much time it will take." Caleb handed food to Zou Haoran to fill his tummy.

One task was still left to do.

Capital High School not only provides education but accommodation too. Many students of the school live in the hostel. This school has both hostelers and localities.

They were heading to the warden's office of Boys Hostel. Caleb decided that he wanted to live in the hostel while Zou Haoran was there to drop him off.

Caleb collected the keys from the warden after completing all the formalities.

The room allotted to Caleb was empty. He had no roommate. But it was also good.

The room was clean. It had a study table with drawers to put things in, a comfortable chair, and an almirah built in the wall.

It didn't take too much time for them to place the things. "phew, It's all done earlier than expected." Both were drinking water after their hard work.

"Yeah." Zou Haoran also agreed.

"Now you can tell me what delayed you."

"Well, you see… the twins we saw in the morning, their parents came to cause trouble. They were accusing that tree girl of pushing down their son."

"Layla Chen… that's her name. By the way, why would they say so? I mean technically she didn't push him. And, how did she deal with it?" Caleb asked, showing the curious nature of a human being.

"It was because their daughter called them but never told the whole truth. And, along with her brother, they were ready to push her forward to be a scapegoat."

He further continued, "Caleb, you know… she was holding back her tears, her eyes were moist. Still, she was standing firm, not ready to take any false blame." He turned his head and looked up. "It was clear that she had no one to back her up but she wasn't ready to back down by herself.

She's really an interesting lady..." He further added with a low voice. "...and strong too." His eyes were shining. Apart from his mother and that woman he has never seen any other lady to show such a strong side in disadvantageous situations.

"I helped her."

Hearing his statement Caleb raised his brows but didn't interrupt him.

"After all, you won't see anyone climbing a tree daily to solve a problem." He laughed at the mention of the morning incident. In his previous school, no one would do something like that. They are all taught to be prim and proper not to show their real self at least not openly. Many of them were simply hypocrites too.

"Maybe this time, this year will be different." Zou Haoran had a light in his eyes anticipating some exciting changes in the near future.

But fate was hiding something he never expected to happen. It was just a matter of time before his life would start changing...

I will use the word 'hostel' instead of 'dormitory' as I'm more familiar with 'hostel'.
