Chapter 8

"Finally, more goblins!"

After a few minutes of searching, goblins once again entered Xianth's vision. He ate his fill and this is now his chance to check whether his theory is correct

With a fearless outlook on life, Xianth approached the goblins. This time there are more of them, seven in total

These goblins were attempting to climb another pear tree to eat the fruits when they noticed Xianth approaching them

"A human!"

"Kek kek kek!"

"M-meat!"

The goblins viewed the young man as nothing more than a huge piece of meat that they want to devour

The pears on the tree instantly turned unappealing to them and they stopped climbing it. They instead changed their target

The goblins started to approach Xianth while wielding their wooden clubs. Their slimy saliva was dripping constantly with the thought of eating a human

"It seems like these goblins are the type that has low intelligence and likes to eat humans" Xianth judged and he didn't waste any more time checking his theory

He tapped into the aura that Ischyros was leaking from the small hole in the chains binding it

This was just a tiny hint of Ischyros' aura as the channel in which it could flow and leak was still very small. However, as soon as Xianth released that aura, the goblins were instantly terrified

Their whole body trembled violently and some even pissed on the skirt they were wearing. Their hands automatically let go of their wooden club. The expression on their faces was as if they were staring at a terrifying behemoth

This was just a tiny bit of Ischyros' aura that is perhaps merely equivalent to a drop of water in an ocean or even less yet it already has such an effect. This proves that Ischyros really is an extremely high-level entity

"Scram now!" Xianth ordered them before retracting 'his' oppressive aura

It has only been two months since he entered this new world. Not to mention he spent these two months inside a cave with only a Phoenix as a companion

He still doesn't have any experience with bloodshed and he is not the type of person that would kill indiscriminately. For now, he still has the values he had back on earth

As if they were given a pardon the goblins immediately hurried away. However, they still haven't reached that far when Xianth moved to catch up to them

While the terrifying aura was not there anymore the goblins were already traumatized. After seeing Xianth running after them they started to run even faster than before to escape from him

"Stop! I won't kill you. I just have a question. If you don't stop while I'm still asking nice then..." Xianth trailed and he gathered his mana into his palm to send a beam of energy to his side that left a huge gaping hole in an innocent tree

His display of power terrifies the goblins and they immediately stopped running

"I want to know where the closest human city, town, village, or whatever!" He asked

He would still feel most comfortable in the presence of humans as they are of the same species. He could also learn a lot of things from them especially things about this world

"C-city?"

"Town?"

"Village?"

The goblins repeated those terms while tilting their heads to the side. Some even scratched their ears showing that they don't understand what Xianth meant

'It might be possible to converse with goblins but they don't seem that smart' Xianth judged and he decided to use words that are easier to understand

"A place that has many humans. Where is that?"

That seems to have worked and the goblins pointed their fingers at a single direction while showing a bit of fear

"Humans there many"

"Humans strong. Can't eat"

If Xianth's interpretation was correct these goblins were saying that there are many strong humans in the direction that they pointed and since those humans are strong they can't eat them

'Does it mean that I look weak since these goblins tried to kill and eat me earlier?' Xianth mused while feeling a bit offended though he can't really tell if he is weak or strong by this world's standards since he never fought anyone before

He might be able to scare these goblins but that is only because of the oppressive aura he can release thanks to a certain Phoenix

"Alright, alright, you can go now!" Xianth said as if he was merely shooing some dog. Since he got what he wanted then there is no need to further converse with these goblins

He watched as the goblins ran away from him as if he was carrying some deadly infectious disease before he walked in the direction that the goblins pointed

He doesn't know how reliable these goblins are but this was better than blindly walking inside the forest. If he was unlucky he might spend a long time being lost in this forest

'I hope I could get my hands on a more decent type of clothes. I can already imagine the gaze that I will receive once I enter a human territory while wearing this garbage' Xianth muttered as he looked at the blackened beast skirt he was wearing

This was the only thing he could salvage from the dead orcs and he does not have any other choice

While shaking his head Xianth increased his pace. He can't wait to enter a civilized society

Staying and sleeping inside the cave was not exactly pleasant since there was nothing decent that he could use as his bed. Now that he is in the wild, it would be even harder for him to find a proper place to sleep with. Besides, who knows how dangerous this forest is?

He is afraid that something would attack him while he was busy sleeping. This is not the world that Xianth is used to. He has to always be on guard if he wants to live a longer life
