CHAPTER 15

Cheng had called the young son of a Chinatown friend whose specialty was the placement of glass panels and mirrors. Both were working all day until 7 pm when the boy left the house.

“Is your mirror room ready?” Asked Nancy.

“It was just a figure, a metaphor, although we seek to bring ideas into reality. Tell your mother and Lucas that we go shopping at the supermarket. We will buy supplies for a prolonged time during which we will disappear from the surface.”

Xie Fu was furious, despite all inquiries made and all the money spent to talk to merchants, porters, delivery boys and neighbors in general they had not managed to find Xu. Wang asked him.

“What reason do you have to be so determined to find them? Do they represent an imminent danger to your project? Do you have information leading to you or your associates? Are they part of a rival project?”

“Nothing of that. They are just a loose end. I hate to leave unfinished things.”
