"Soldier Ash reporting, Colonel." Ash swallowed his own paranoia with the strange situation and greeted the colonel and then all the officers in turn.

"Relax, soldier. I called you here because we have something very important we want to discuss with you." The colonel allowed Ash to relax and turned to the soldiers escorting him. "You two, you're dismissed. Return to your respective duties."

As the two soldiers left, the colonel resumed speaking. "Before we begin, there's something I and everyone here would like to confirm. Was it you who attacked a unit of human mages, stole the teleportation crystal, and used it to enter the midst of the enemy formation and burn the portal with silver flames?"
