Lesson 5: Earn Respect

I gave the receptionist a wondering look, because I didn't understand the difference. So I asked her about it.

V:" Where is the difference?"

R:" Well... A Dragon is way stronger than a wyvern. Both physically and magically. It's claws are around double the strength and dragons are able to breath elementary magic. Wyvern can't. Thus, a dragon is a way harder task to fight, but to kill it is even harder, due to its intelligence."

V:" I meant the reward. I have other sources of information about beasts."

R:" Oh. The reward is higher of course. It involves an instant rank-up to the rank of the completed quest and gives you around 5 times more money. As the request information was false at that, you gain a danger-compensation aswell."

V:" Can I get the reward soon? I'm running kind of low on supplies recently."

R:" Sure, you will receive it right after we finish calculating. This might take an hour. You can take a seat and order something to eat. It's on me."

V:" Thank you then."

I sit down at a nearby table and order a big meal. I haven't eaten for two days, so I'm actually running low on energy. After I ordered there was a group of guys in leather clothing coming in. They went to the receptionist and put a few goblins on the counter. The receptionist was obviously busy dealing with my dragon, but they started to insult her. I didn't step in, because of the Guilds rules, but they did get my blood boiling. My food came and I ate fast. After finishing my first plate the guys came over and told me to leave.

?:" Yo little boy. I don't know whose son you are, but that is our table."

V:" I don't see any name here and i doubt the guild offers such service."

?:" Didn't quite hear me boy?

He lays a knife on my table. And looks me in the eyes trying to look scary. But I felt just as Gilgamesh and wanted to joke about him. I follow his suggestion to use his knife to cut my steak. His face was worth it. He was surprised and then got angry.

?:" Trying to be funny boy? Haven't had a whooping for a while huh?"

R:" I RECOMMEND NOT FIGHTING. BUT I WILL ALLOW IT"

I glanced at her and she winked. I felt like provoking them even more.

V:" Indeed. I didn't find anyone strong enough, but it seems I have to look further, looking at those weak stats you got there."

Several of the group:" You sure wanted this kid"

They all pull their weapons and I ask Gilgamesh and Dall to stay out of it. This was my fight. The first guy to attack me was the one that talked to me. He took his knife but pulled the steak with it. Gilgamesh and I immediately laugh out loud, while I defend his swing with ease. I provoke him a little more and he snaps. He runs towards me swinging his knife, but I dodge and trip him up. He falls to the ground and stabs his arm, while screaming around like a baby.

The others become agitated and attack me all at once. I lift the first one up and throw him into the group. Then I take his knife, which was dropped in the process and threw it. It easily pierced through the guy. And the guy after him. And the one after him. At the end four out of the original seven are lying on the ground bleeding. The other three try to throw their weapons, but I catch them and throw them back. The handle facing them, as I wanted them to catch it. They picked them back up, after letting them fall and try to attack me. I am barehanded but they are slow enoug for me to run past them, turn and elbow-jab their spinal-column. There was to people standing in the are now. Me and the receptionist bringing my reward.

R:" Good fight. I suppose you didn't use full strength, though."

V:" Yes, I had no reason to. But thank you for backing me up."

R:" I didn't like them in the first place. And you don't seem as arrogant and pride as they are."

V:" Thank you, I guess. Do you know an Inn somewhere here? I slept close to the dungeon the last days." A little lie won't hurt.

R:" I'm not even surprised anymore. There is the bears paw or the warm husky. I always liked the husky Inn. I was there a few times for deliverys."

V:" Thank you, I will check it out."

I leave the guild and head to the directions she gave me for the Inn. I enter the building and look around. It was a wooden interior with a humble, lively and calm athmosphere. Perfect to calm down.

The other guests are mainly elderly or couples, enjoying the hot bathes. I decide to stay here too, washing myself had to have priority.

V:" Excuse me madam?"

Receptionist(WH):" Yes?"

V:" Can I get a room here?"

R(WH):" Sure, but we charge quite some money here. The last rooms left are the rather expensive ones."

V:" That should be fine. I would like to stay four days with food and bathing, please."

R(WH):" Those two are always included here. I have to ask: What room do you want?"

V:" I don't know. Is there a quiet one?"

R(WH):" Sure there is, but that one is our biggest room."

V:" Just tell me the price"

R(WH):"20 Gold a night."

I thought about my reward a second, but 7 Platinum coins plus 700 gold would suffice for sure.

V:" I will take it. Four days, so 80 Gold?"

R(WH):" Yes."

I pay, while taking the most suprised looks I saw for a while. I go up to my room and go to sleep. I plan to look for another god to contract tomorrow.
