We gathered on the steps of the harbor and waited for them to get in range for us to attack. I pulled my sniper up and aimed at one of the zeppelins, shooting the control panel. The airship started to fall landing safely in the water. I continued to shot them down, making them land, unfortunately, they landed quite far apart so using my explosives to slow them down was a no-go since I would be wasting them meaninglessly and we needed to hold as much as we could.
With all the ships down the scene become silent, no side made any moves, waiting for the other to engage.
"Master Ethan, shouldn't we engage them? I could put the water benders to freeze the water so we could get to them."
"Master? What did I do to receive such a title? Shouldn't I call you master instead? I'm barely sixteen. If you really want to be polite sir or captain will do, I was never one for pleasantries anyway."
"Captain, receiving the title of a master isn't something constrained by age, it's something that comes with mastery of your respective art and with the presence of wisdom. You, sir, are a master at chi blocking and there are no questions for the wisdom part, even Master Tenzin praises you in that regard!"
"Haaa, I would prefer if he didn't, it brings too much attention and prevents me from doing my job properly. To answer your question, no we will not attack. They want us to engage since they are now stuck in water, if we go to attack we also give them a way to attack us. Making an ice bridge allows them to get here faster."
When I finished speaking the enemy finally started to move, throwing some smoke grenades to mask their movements.
"Earth benders, build a wall along the shoreline! Water benders make a slim wall in front of their's."
'The layer of ice should slow them down a little.'
I take some explosives from my bag and I tell the fire benders to put them on the wall. When all of this was ready we retreated a few dozen meters away.
"Everybody be ready to start firing at my signal."
The smoke started to expand over the wall and people could be heard jumping over it. As the smoke draw closer the White Lotus members grew more scared.
"Hold it, Hold it..."
When the smoke was about five meters away from us I pulled one of my pistols and shot toward a place where I knew there was an explosive. A chain reaction ensued causing me to nearly go deaf. With ringing still in my ears, I shouted from the bottom of my lungs.
"FIRE!"
Then mayhem ensued, since the blast cleared the smoke I could see all of the things going on and I could also hear everything now that my ears came back to normal from the blast.
'I don't remember the battle to be this bloody. But then again, what I remember was a cartoon and this is real life.'
After I'm done admiring my work, I jump into the fray to see if I can smash more enemies than the others combined.
The battle was easier than I thought and when I went to check on Pema and the kids, only two people managed to slip my vigilant eyes. They were some of the older guys that were directly under Amon.
With the fight being over we started to round up the prisoners and put them into earth cages made from my design. With a stroke of unbelievable luck, no one died which surprised me, to say the least. Now don't get me wrong I don't want to kill anyone, especially them since I will need their help in the future, but the fight was quite vicious so I was expecting a few deaths or at least a lot of people in a life-threatening condition. All the people that seemed to be seriously injured had mostly superficial wounds, a few broken bones, and concussions.
"Aang if you are seeing this then I'm sorry for doing this on your Island and I thank you for blessing us with life, because of you nobody died."
My allies bowed in the direction of the huge avatar statue. While I said this out loud it was in a low tone so under normal circumstances they would not hear me but since now I was their commander they paid extra attention to me. While they also found it weird that nobody died or had any untreatable wounds, they didn't question it since the adrenalin in their system made their brain not process events well.
Me saying this was like lighting a fire inside their mind, helping them connect the dots. The people in this world are quite superstitious and quite rightly so, I would be as well in a world where spirits roamed the Earth. Such a miracle couldn't be passed as pure coincidence, in their eyes, there was surely a higher power that prevented a tragedy from unfolding.
While I was skeptical of a hire power I didn't voice my opinions out loud anymore. With the fact that people started to see me like an omen of victory, who am to ruin their beliefs with logic. Blessed are the poor in spirit.
Shortly after all was put back in order the team came back except Nya, this made me slightly worried but I know that she is a big girl now, a grown woman so I pushed my fears to the back of my mind for now.
