"I'm not impressed." He said and Kalina guessed the laughter in his words. "Still." She returned, trying to match his amusement and completely failing. That man had a knack for annoying her, that was for sure. ¿Why? Kalina didn't know for sure. She felt a little stupid about the discovery, but there was something else. Something attracted her to him, that was undeniable.
"When we entered the throne room: why did you release your energy in such a merciless way?" It was almost dawn and they were finishing eating. Kalina had dressed when Valian had gone to get food. She was sitting on his lap against his back while Valian lay on the back of the bed. "Does it have to do with your reputation in Aladar's court?"
"Kal, you see: I have good allies at court. But, on the other hand, I also have great enemies. To those enemies, I act like a heartless and temperamental tyrant."
"You exercise fear to maintain control." She told him. "Although fear is not always the best way."
"I know. I'm sorry I didn't warn you about that…" Valian said and hugged her waist. "The version of me who sits on the throne is just a costume, a mask. One that I can't keep having you here."
Kalina leaned over and put her plate on the nightstand.
"You can count on me for whatever you need. I will support you, Valian."
