The saving

"Xie Xun, you are not qualified to negotiate terms with us!" Xiao Yu yells out. 

Xie Xun smirks, "are you sure?" as he tightens his other arm around Jiang Shiyi's throat and puts the gun facing her head.

"Is that Shiyi?!!" Su Jinshi's heart feels like it's going to drop as she sees that her daughter was taken hostage. She quickly holds on to her husband for support. 

"I should've held on to her hand tighter!" Jiang Han says as he blames himself for letting go of her hand. 

Jiang Yanmu shakes his head, "it's not your fault." He says as he tries to comfort Jiang Han, and holds on to his wife. He knows that he can't collapse because his wife and daughter need him. 

Good thing Jiang Shuchuan and the rest went back or else they'll be very worried and even react stronger than Su Jinshi.

Ye Nanchen tightens his fist, "We could get you the car and money. But you have to let her go!" He clearly says as he tries to keep his calm. 

"You think I'll trust you? If I don't see the car and money in ten minutes. I'm going to kill her! I don't mind bringing someone with me when I die," he says back. 

Both Ye Nanchen and Xiao Yu could feel the anger rising inside of them, but they can't do anything right now. 

"Nanchen, what's going on right now?" his supervisor, Ji Wei asks through the phone. 

Ye Nanchen told him what happened and what the culprit wanted. 

After a few minutes, they ended the call. 

"Xie Xun, the car and money you want is on the way. Why don't you release her a little bit or else she can't breathe," Ye Nanchen says as he notices how tight he's gripping Jiang Shiyi's throat. 

"I heard that you have a daughter too?" 

Speaking of his daughter, Xie Xun's seem to be a little out of control. 

"Your daughter should be the same age as her. I don't think your daughter would want to know what her father did right?" Ye Nanchen says as he tries to talk him down. 

Jiang Shiyi looks at Ye Nanchen and could feel that the culprit is slowly losing the grip around her neck. 

With an exchange of eye signals between Jiang Shiyi and Ye Nanchen, Jiang Shiyi quickly used the self-defense that Ye Nanchen had taught her. 

She quickly loosen the grip from the culprit and ducks down as Ye Nanchen shoots the culprit's arm that was holding the gun. 

The police quickly went up and arrested him. 

Ye Nanchen quickly runs up to Jiang Shiyi to check on her. 

As he went up to her, Jiang Shiyi already stood back up. Even though she was scared, she was relieved that she learned those self-defense skills from Ye Nanchen. 

Ye Nanchen checks around her to make sure she wasn't hurt. Besides the red mark on her neck that was caused by the grip, nothing serious was hurt. Ye Nanchen grits his teeth a little as he could feel a sense of relief that she's fine. 

"Not bad. Can't believe you still remember," Ye Nanchen says as he caresses her hair. 

"Of course! All those summers that I was forced to learn came to good use," she proudly says. 

Xiao Yu came up after, "Captain, everything is done here. I think her parents are waiting outside," he says. 

"Oh right!" Jiang Shiyi says and quickly runs out to tell her parents that she's fine. 

Ye Nanchen shakes his head a little with a smile, and follows her out. 

"Shiyi!" When her mom sees her walking out, she quickly runs up to her to check if she's okay. 

"Are you hurt?" she asks as she quickly checks to see if she's wounded anywhere. 

Jiang Shiyi could see the redness and tears around her mom and dad's eyes. 

"I'm fine. Really," she says as if nothing had happened with a little carefree. 

Jiang Han sighs in relief when he sees that Jiang Shiyi was fine. But he still blames himself for not protecting her. 

"Jiang Ah Yi. Jiang Shu." Ye Nanchen came up to them and greeted them. 

"Nanchen, you're here too? Were you inside also?" Jiang Yanmu asks. 

Ye Nanchen nods. "I'm sorry for causing Shiyi to almost get hurt," he sincerely apologizes. 

Jiang Yanmu shakes his head, "no, it wasn't your fault." Both Jiang Yanmu and Su Jinshi understand. 

"I know that you saved our daughter," Jiang Yanmu added with a smile. 

"Mom, I want to drink boba," Shiyi says as she whines a little in Su Jinshi's arm. 

Su Jinshi smiles, "not scared that you'll get stomach pain?" she says. 

Shiyi pouts her lips, "pleaseee, just this once?" she says with one finger up. 

"What stomach pain?" Ye Nanchen asks. 

Jiang Han told him everything about how Jiang Shiyi ate too much cold food and ended up in the hospital. 

Jiang Shiyi wasn't planning to let Ye Nanchen know or else earlier this afternoon, he wouldn't allow her to buy it. And now he knows, Jiang Shiyi feels a little guilty to look up at him. 

"I see," he says. 

Jiang Shiyi isn't sure if he's mad or what, from that tone. 

"It's a little too late today. Get it tomorrow," Ye Nanchen says. 

Jiang Shiyi gave him a look and then didn't say anything. Who told her to trick him into getting it before and now all she could do is to listen. 

Su Jinshi looks at her daughter and warmly smiles. She knows how both of them grew up together, and usually Jiang Shiyi listens to Ye Nanchen a lot. But once they started to grow older, Jiang Shiyi would be a little rebellious sometimes and always fought with Ye Nanchen. 

"Shiyi, I'll buy it for you tomorrow," Jiang Han says. 

Jiang Shiyi's eyes brighten, "really? Xiao Ge,you're the best!" Jiang Shiyi said and went to hug Jiang Han's arm.

Usually she calls Jiang Han by his name, and only calls him 'xiao ge' when she needs something from him. 

Ye Nanchen watches her and smiles. 

Xiao Yu, who was standing a few inches away, observed Ye Nanchen and Jiang Shiyi. This is the most frequent time that he saw his captain smile. 

"I must tell this to Chi Qingli!" he says.
