Chapter 4

As the silhouette broke through the glass, the kids were shocked to see the thing. No they were shocked see the person that broke in.

She was a teenager with silvery-white and yellow eyes. She was wearing her faith academy uniform which which resembles a white sailor uniform that has a black collar and black cuffs that has white horizontal stripes, an black-colored tie hanged from the edges of her collar, a short black skirt, long black socks and maroon-colored shoes.

"You can come out now" the person known as Naruse Yuki said with a bright smile as she approaches the frightened kids.

Seven minutes ago

Yuki was running towards to the demon location upon sensing their aura. She was forcefully dragged into this isolation barrier as she was walking down the street to her apartment.

She was sent to Night city by the Japanese Hunters branch to investigate suspicious demonic activities occuring in the city.

Hunters are stationed all around the world while dealing with the supernatural in the shadows. Normally, Night city is usually a peacefully region with little demonic activity.

As such, it is considered a safe zone but in the past few years, the demonic activities in the city are slowly increasing at a alarming rate. So they sent Yuki to investigate while she continue her studies here.

Yuki ran past several buildings and made a quick turn to the right. Upon that, she spotted her targets as they ram the door of a cafe.

"As expected, demons are such repulsive creatures." She mumbled as she walked down the streets

The blood wolves paused as they spotted the white haired girl approaching them. In its mind, it wondered why its prey would approach them.

The blood wolves had a look of delight as it felt the defenseless girl who got trapped with their prey, was probably tired of escaping and had decided to accept her death.

The Blood wolves licked its lips as it moved slowly towards Yuki.

All of a sudden a katana appeared in Yuki's right hand which baffled it.

"Finally I can test this out... thank you for being my first test subject," Yuki said nonchalantly as she continue walking.

The blood wolves couldn't understand what Yuki was saying but its senses were telling it that this person in front was dangerous but looking at Yuki from head to toe they could only see Yuki as a weak-looking person until a white aura engulfed her being.

"I can finally test out my technique on you lots" Yuki said as she took a Iaidō battle stance.

The blood wolves howled with unwillingness, the arrogant look in Yuki's eyes had angered it.

Swoooshhh!

Three blood wolves dashed towards Yuki.

Seeing the approaching demons, Yuki reminded patient and waited for the beasts to enter her range.

The beasts were now ten feet's away from her. They wondered why the arrogant prey was not moving.

Then, something strange happened. The beasts line of sight suddenly changed. The white haired girl was suddenly bigger and they could not feel their body. An attack, that's impossible. They didn't even see the girl move.

Apparently, Yuki had decapitated the monsters in an instant.

Looking at the lifeless bodies of the beasts before her, proud of her work.

She dematerialized her weapon and proceeded to walk to the cafe that the beasts were trying to break into.

The present

Yuki had brought kids out of the cafe and was about to undo the barrier until she was approached by a person with black hair and blue eyes.

"Oslov"

"Naruse"

They were both surprised to see each other. They both that demon's aura so they thought a hunter was near by but they did not expect to see each other.

Yuki was surprised at first but later joined her composure and remove the isolation barrier.

Upon that, the sounds of cars moving and people walking. Apparently, time had not passed in the outside world and the kids were placed in their original position like the incident never happened.

Yuki erased the memories of the kids, so that they wouldn't remember today events. The knowledge of the supernatural must remain hidden from the normal humans.

Seeing that the kids were well and safe. Marco started walking leaving the silver haired girl behind, he had already involved himself more than he needed to. He no longer have ties to supernatural.

"Marco"

Yuki's quiet voice called his name from behind. Marco paused his steps and looked at the silver haired girl, wondering why she called his name.

"I have something important to discuss."

---

Marco decided to accept Yuki's request to talk with just the two of them. Marco and Yuki moved to a café in front of the station. They chose an empty table at the back. Marco had his eyes fixed on Yuki while waiting for her to speak.

"…Thanks, for coming." Yuki slowly opened her mouth.

"No prob, but how did you know my name." Marco was curious. Only Yuki had introduced herself in front of the class. Needless to say, the other classmates, Marco included, didn't name themselves.

"Well, it's thanks to this from our homeroom teacher."

Yuki pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket and held it out. It was a copy of the seating chart that her homeroom teacher prepared for her, so that she could memorize her classmates' names as soon as possible.

"Oh, that man is perceptive as ever."

Marco nodded once expressing his understanding.

"So? What did you want to talk about?" Yuki didn't answer his question right away.

"…It's about earlier" Yuki said whispering. Those were the words he had expected. Even he thought that incident was strange. Low ranking demons like the blood wolf don't come out in groups.

"So you think it's the work of a third party" Marco said as Yuki responded with a nod.

It's possible this may be the work of a high ranking devil. The high ranking devils have the ability to control lesser devils to do their biddings.

Upon that, Marco's expression turned bitter. He had stayed in Night city for six years and he didn't sense anything out of the ordinary. But if it's the case that this is the work of a high ranking devil, why didn't Jin do something about it.

After the incident six years ago, Marco lost his qualification as a Hunter and since Jin couldn't keep protecting him as a hunter, he quit too--- cut their ties to the supernatural and relocated to Night city.

But Jin wouldn't leave a high ranking devil to roam around the city, especially if it endangers everyone's lives including his. He couldn't overlook that. He had a reason not to. He decided when he gets back home, he would ask Jin about it.

"So what are you doing to do about it?" Marco asked shortly.

"Considering this may be work of a high ranking devil, I will need all the help I can get." Yuki replied to Marco's question.

"I'm no longer a hunter so I'm afraid I can't help you with that." Marco said with a wry smile.

Even if he wanted to help, he certainly doesn't have the same power he had in the past. And given his six years without training, he doesn't know how much of a help he can be.

Yuki was shocked upon hearing that. She was curious why a hunter is residing in this city. The hunters usually isolate themselves from the outside world and operate from the shadows.

"What happened?" She asked

"Well, some stuff happened. Guess you can call it a trauma… Even now, I sometimes dream of that time." Marco said while averting his eyes by looking down.

"I-I see" Yuki said with a bitter expression on her face.

"Are you only they sent here." Marco asked while he raised his eyebrow.

"Unfortunately yes"

"But we have little information to come up to a conclusion." She added.

What she said is correct. They had little information to come to a conclusion. Although, it's rare for low ranking demons to attack in groups, it doesn't mean it cannot happen. They are jumping to conclusions here and that is not a good sign.

"Besides, I never said you should get involved directly. You can just report anything you find suspicious to me without needing to get involved directly." She said in a single breath.

"Okay, let's do that" Marco said nonchalantly.

"Wait, your surname is Naruse, right? then are you." Before Marco could finish his question,

a loud noise echoed through the café.

When Marco and Yuki looked towards the source of the noise, curious,

"M- My apologies."

Near the entrance of the café, a flustered waitress crouched on the floor. Most likely she had bumped into a customer and dropped her stainless tray with the cups.

As the customer hastily left the café, the door was still open.

"Well, it was fun chatting with you but I must be on my way now." Marco said as started standing to leave.

"Wait, let's exchange contact info, in case something happens." Yuki said while bringing out her phone.

They exchanged contact info with each other and left the café, going their separate ways.

Marco made it back to his apartment after ten minutes.

It appears Jin is not yet back, so he has wait for him to come back. He went straight to his room and fell down on his bed like a lodge. Today events has drained him of his remaining energy that he had.

Marco shifted his body to face the ceiling as he put his hands behind his head. He started recalling today events and it seems his peaceful days are numbered.

"Just like jack said, It seems like things are about get interesting around here." Marco mumbled as he slowly closes his eyes and his consciousness fall into the world of dreams.
