Chapter 34

The chill was unbearable. Cato could feel his fingers slowly giving way to the numbing cold. He needed to make a fire. He spotted a heart at the center of the room. Making his way over to it he grabbed a wooden stool and smashed it against the ground. The wood splintered and he stacked the pieces in the hearth. he placed his sack on the ground.

“What about the princess?” Skoll asked. Cato sensed the urgency and concern in his question. “She’s still out there. Lost in the snow.”

“We will find her,” Cato replied out loud. “The best thing we can do is light this fire. She’ll be drawn to the light.”

“And the others?” Skoll pushed on. “They’ll be drawn to it as well.”

“L-l-let’s hope she f-f-finds us f-f-first,” Cato stammered. The cold was really getting to him.
