"They were," Jel said, holding his finger up. "But they cannot remain that way forever. Humans are pretty easy to control, if you think about it.
"Offer them protection, make them be worried about their safety and then, you have them in your grasp.
"Though that is beyond what we were talking about. You know about hybrids, right?"
"Yes?" All three said at the same time, listening to Jel intently.
"Hybrids are stronger than purebreds. Just from the mixture of different ... abilities in their veins.
"But, like albinism and red hair or green eyes, those traits are recessive. So, the best way to get rid of powerful traits from being passed down? It is to encourage breeding.
