A Magical Experience - II

 Uptil now we saw that Adonis opened up the silverwood chest that he got as an inheritance in the Gringotts vault. Inside were some documents, a key with 3 rings, a pouch.

When I opened the chest, I saw that there were some documents, a key which had three rings connected to it and a pouch. I picked up the documents first and started to read them one by one. But as soon as I read the first document, I was stunned. The content of this document was a declaration that House of Lovegood was no longer a vassal of the Uttermost Ancient and Most Noble House of Scamander and it was signed by Newton Scamander himself!! This was like one of my wishes coming true!! Apparently my grandfather, had an agreement with Newt Scamander and was granted freedom from the pledge of allegiance towards the Uttermost Ancient and Most Noble House of Scamander making us an Most Noble House of Lovegood according to our history. I felt a relief in knowing that I will not be needing to bow my head to someone. It felt like the shackles binding my wings were removed and I could spread my wings freely and cover the whole sky.

I passed on that document to my father to read who was equally surprised and happy about the turn of events as, somewhere, in his heart, he also wanted to be independent and free. I started reading the next documents which were the deeds of two shops in Diagon Alley which were in very good locations. This was also a welcome surprise as my mind was running at high speeds as to how I can utilize these shops to create steady income streams for us. After giving it some thought, I handed the deeds to my father for safekeeping and took a look at the next gift, which was the key with three rings. There was a note along with the key that this was the access point to our very own mansion!! The key itself was made up of a special material and gold with intricate patterns and was the activation key to activate the dormant wards of the mansion. Now I was very excited to explore our new home. Luna herself looked ecstatic and father also smiled after seeing her being so happy as he thought it would be a good way to heal all the trauma that was caused because of the death of mother by having a fresh start. The three rings that came with the access key were actually portkeys which directly connected to the mansion. 

I gave one ring to father and the other to Luna as I already had the heir ring, which was also got connected to the mansion when I bound my magic to the key and the remaining ring was kept by me as a spare. The last thing that was in the chest was a pouch. It was black in color with purple and silver designs engraved on it. When I opened the pouch, it had a lot a of gold galleons. Like a lot. The number flashed 2 million galleons!! I was ecstatic because two million galleons is not a small amount. Even a single gold galleon is very valuable in this time period as the economy is still strong. I could do a lot with this much liquid money. Even the families like the Blacks and the Malfoys were rumored to have 12-13 million galleons. Even the space bag itself was a treasure as it was illegal to make bags with this much storage space in today's time. I felt happy that all the gifts that I received, were what I needed the most at this moment. I kept the pouch with me and the documents with my father, took Luna's hand and walked out of the vault.

We all had smiles on our faces when we came out of the vault and the goblin was looking at us with a greedy look. My smile disappeared and I tossed him one galleon and said in a very serious tone, "Not a word about this." The goblin snatched the galleon from the air, smiled crookedly and said, "I did not see anything. Jejejeje." (Your normal ugly evil laugh) We sat in the cart and within a few minutes were back to the reception area of the bank. We swiftly took our exit and were back on the busy street. We visited a shop called Twilfitt and Tattings which was a clothing store which served only to pureblood customers and as expected, they gave us excellent service at par to the prices that they charged us. We had ordered a full wardrobe for all three of us along with charms engraved on the clothes such as the resizing charm, the temperature control charm and a minor protection charm against hexes and other malefic stuff.

I know it would feel like we are just behaving like "New Money" people but you know what they say, "the clothes maketh the man." First impressions matter and no matter how good we are, the world will judge us on what it sees first. After giving our measurements and making the payment, we moved on to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. Luna was jumping up and down and directly asked for all the flavours. Dad asked the shop owner for a little of everything and we sat down after collecting the order and started tasting. I have to admit that the British may not be that good at other styles of food, but when it comes to sweets, they are a force to be reckoned with. The sheer variety of the types of ice creams was enough for me to raise my eyes in surprise. 

After a few bites I let the ice cream in my mouth to settle and waited for my brain freeze to end. I then addressed my father and said, "Father. I want to make a request." Father asked, "What is it son?" I said plainly, "I want to purchase the Leaky Cauldron." My father choked a little but quickly composed himself and looked at me. He said, "I thought that it must be some small request like buying a broom, etc. but I guess by now I should only expect surprises from you. Tell me, why do you want to purchase the Cauldron?" I explained to him my reasoning and the importance of the Leaky Cauldron and how it could be improved and turned into a stable income source as well as it would be a wise use of the liquidated assets we had in the form of galleons. He found no loopholes in my reasoning and nodded his head. But he put in a condition that I will be needing to negotiate with Tom as he was the owner and uptil now he has not agreed to the many offers he had received.

I thought about what he said and fell into contemplation. I had never considered that what I had realized must have been realized by others too. They also would have tried to lure Tom with lucrative offers and what not but he still did not sell his property. It also made me realize that openly purchasing the Leaky Cauldron could backfire on us as it would reveal that we had a sudden increase in wealth which would lead to a whole lot of complications and variables. Because no matter where you go in life, you will always find that enemies are faster to make than friends. This was a time I realized that caution is extremely important for the safety of my family. I agreed to my father's condition to convince Tom to sell the tavern to us. 

We were back at the Leaky Cauldron, sitting in a conspicuous corner, away from the prying eyes of nosy people. I was still racking my brains out as to what tactic to use to convince Tom to sell this place. My father summoned Tom while Luna was busy eating and asked him, "Mr. Tom do you have a minute to spare? My son wishes to speak with you. In private, of course." Tom was a bit surprised when he learned that I was the one who was going to speak with him that to in private nonetheless,

 he was intrigued. He sat on our table and took out his wand and created a undetectable privacy barrier around us. I was looking at his wand and was surprised that there was such a beautiful wand in Tom's hands. He was not a simple shop owner like it was shown in the movies. He saw that I was interested in the wand and started to explain a bit about its features. He said, "This wand is made out of Lancewood, which usually prefers a very social owner. The handle is made out of Fir Wood, which in turn often seeks out those who will serve a greater purpose. However, the combination of this strand of Lancewood and Fir Wood means the wand will seek out somebody with the potential to be incredibly powerful. This wand has 2 cores. A core of dragon wing which enhances the owner's adaptability in combat and bone is added to control the power of the dragon wing core. The wand measures 13 inches/33 cm and has a well crafted look. The particular strand of Lancewood used in this wand is very rare, which does add to the overall cost of the wand and dragon wing is quite rare as well, resulting in a pricey wand. Took me a fortune to get a hold of it,eh?" 

"So tell me Heir Lovegood, what is it that you wish to discuss with me?" He asked. I processed the information that he told me about his wand and found it reasonable as it was what he resembled. Because of his social personality, he was easily able to connect with patrons and form strong relations and the fact that this place was able to survive for so long and was active during war times tells volumes about the strength of Tom. I looked him in the eyes and said, "Mr. Tom, I want to buy the Leaky Cauldron." He looked at me critically and smiled after a pause and said, "Why, pray tell? And what do you have to offer in return of that?" Father and Luna were sitting at the side watching the complete scene unfold. I said to Tom, "Well firstly, I think it is high time we made some changes to the interior and aesthetics of this place to keep up with the times. This place has a lot of untapped potential and if we do make the changes, we will be able to create good impressions on muggles as this is the first place that they visit when entering the magical world as well as make immense profits and connections."

"Secondly, I offer that all the management of this place will be in your control only. I am not going to replace you or anything. I will just make suggestions on how we can improve and you can implement them and continue serving customers as you have done impeccably so far. I know you have a keen interest in the service industry and your name has already been established with this place. So it would be completely foolish to remove you out from here. I can assure you that I am not going to meddle much in your work." Tom was listening intently and raised his eyebrows when I mentioned the second point. But he still needed the final push to lock the deal. The last trump card I used was that he would have the backing of the House of Lovegood and said, "Our house itself is a Most Noble House and you cannot find a trustworthy and reliable buyer than us in the current times even among noble houses. I also extend my offer for you to join our family as our loyal vassal so that you and your sire line will be our bannermen." Tom did not expect me to offer direct vassalage to him.
