114. Blame-Shifting Meeting

"Shame! This is a disgrace to the British Ministry of Magic! It reflects poorly on all Aurors!"

In the French Ministry of Magic, Travers, who had been defeated along with his remaining soldiers, roared angrily.

Theseus lowered his head and leaned against the wall in silence. Despite being the head of the Auror office, he acted as if he had no authority. The title of 'war hero' sounds nice, but it pertains to a Muggle war hero. He earned this title for protecting many Muggles. Therefore, his "war hero" status is highly regarded by wizards who are supportive of Muggles, but it is seen as more of an ironic title among wizards who ignore or even hate Muggles. Furthermore, he found it difficult to find good colleagues.

Many, including Theseus himself, acknowledged that Travers was a highly capable commander. However, Theseus also felt disheartened. As a commander, Travers was overly controlling and acted too tough. Although Theseus was Auror's direct superior, Travers often overstepped his authority.

Theseus did not agree with the decision to attack Aurelius. Although he chose to side with the Ministry of Magic, his kind-hearted nature prevented him from sacrificing an innocent person due to the conflict between the Ministry of Magic and Grindelwald. Now that the operation had failed, more than one-third of the Auror team had died, and another third had suffered varying degrees of trauma. "You don't know?" Travers laughed angrily.

"No one does. He may have discovered valuable magical creatures or found out about the illegal trade of magical animals, much like he did in New York last year..."

"So he showed up in Paris? At our target's home? He not only failed to help us but actually aided the target in attacking the Aurors?!" Travers's voice grew louder and louder, almost reaching a point of questioning.

Theseus frowned, his tone not as friendly as before. "Please watch your tone, Chief Travers. I am not your prisoner."

"You will be soon! Capture Theseus!"

"What?!" Leta exclaimed, standing in front of Theseus. "Why?! Even if Newt violates the ban and hinders the action, what does it have to do with Theseus?"

"Why? Because he was passive during the operation! As the director of the Auror Office and the leader of this operation, he was afraid of death and never entered the scene. I have reason to suspect that all of this is a trap targeting our Auror operation. A trap! Theseus is suspected of leaking secrets and betraying us. Is this reason enough? Miss Lestrange," Travers looked at the two of them coldly.

"Not enough! You don't have the right to arrest the director of the Auror Office! This requires the personal approval of the minister!" Leta was unmoved.

As the only daughter of the Lestrange family, Leta was by no means ordinary and she had full confidence in confronting a director of magical law enforcement.

"You!" Travers looked at her sinisterly, but Leta didn't back down. The other Aurors looked at each other, but no one came forward.

As Ltaa said, wanting to arrest the director of the Auror Office is a decision that only the Minister of Magic is qualified to make.

Even though Travers is now the most powerful person in the Ministry of Magic, it is not a problem to say that he is half the Minister of Magic. But ultimately, he is only half and not the Minister of Magic yet.

"Very well, then I hope you can be careful and don't let me catch you, Miss Lestrange. You should know that as the Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, I have the right to arrest anyone in an emergency. All it would cost is a hearing," Travers walked away.

As Travers left, the tense atmosphere slowly dissipated.

"Leta, thank you." Theseus sat in the chair, feeling depressed.

"I am your fiancée," Leta shook her head, saying there was no need to thank her, but she couldn't help but ask: "Theseus, what happened? Why don't I know anything?"

The British Ministry of Magic sent many people, but not everyone participated in last night's action.

This operation is extremely important to Travers, as killing Aurelius could severely damage Grindelwald's plan.
