A Call

As Ren stood in the room with Doctor Griffin and Detective Colton, an uncomfortable silence settled over him.

Small talk had never been his forte, and the only topic he felt comfortable discussing was designs which seemed out of place.

The room suddenly felt smaller with two people in it. No matter where he looked his gaze still ended up on one of them.

Usually, Terim would handle the conversation, but today, Ren was on his own.

The cub was engrossed in its interface, leaving Ren without his usual source of support. His thoughts tumbled over each other, trying to find a suitable topic to break the silence.

The hum of medical equipment and the soft rustle of Griffin's movements filled the space, but it wasn't enough to dispel the tension. Ren's fingers fidgeted with the hem of his shirt, a nervous habit he couldn't shake.

What should he do?

What was he supposed to say?
