Joana Arthur-Johnson

Her eyes returned to the painting on Aaron's wall. This time Jey walked over to the painting.

She was not aware that her hand was already on the surface of the painting. Jey's heart tried to deny all the possibilities in her mind, but her heart kept screaming something.

When Jey's fingers found the slightly uneven surface of the painting, her hands began to tremble. She repeatedly rubbed at the same place as if trying to ascertain what she was expecting.

Seeing Jey, who never moved from her position, Aaron approached the woman. He immediately felt something was wrong with Jey's facial expression. While gently rubbing Jey's upper arm and snapping the girl from her reverie, Aaron asked,

"What's wrong?"

"Ahem, wh-where did you get this painting?" Asked Jey trying to sound nonchalant, but the expression in her eyes said otherwise.

"I got it from the auction in City K a few years ago. Why?" asked Aaron again, as if trying to figure out what would make Jey's mood change 180 degrees.

"You knew Karina is not my mother, right? My mama, before she becomes Madam Johnson, she was a street painter. Not a famous one, but it was back then enough to pay for my mama tuitions. When she married father, she stopped to touch the canvas and brushes." explained Jey, still staring at the painting with longing eyes.

Back then, she just seven years old when Joana, Jey's mama, told the young Jey about her youth.

The gentle gaze looks sad but also attractive because it emits various emotions as if it were a range of clear blue sea that radiates the sea's beauty.

Jey and Aaron were silent for a long time, looking at the painting in front of them with their thoughts.

Seeing that Jey had no intention of continuing her story, Aaron took the initiative to speak.

"What's your plan for today?" Hearing Aaron's question, Jey looked at the man who was already staring at her with his brown eyes that looked brighter that day.

"Hmm, I don't have any particular things to do today. Why?"

"Do you mind, wait for me a little bit longer? I still have some documents that I have to look at today," asked Aaron with a flat expression. However, only Aaron himself knew how nervous he was.

"Sure," Jey replied with a smile that touched her eyes.

After getting confirmation from Jey, Aaron walked to his desk. He began to put his focus on the email sent by Harry.

Aaron started to busy himself in workloads while Jey walked around Aaron's room, trying to see more the room details. However, no matter how impressive the office was, Jey's eyes noticed Aaron was working more interestingly than the room.

Jey also decided to sit on the long sofa near the bookshelf, positioning herself comfortably. Of course, she chooses the seat that can clearly give the view of Aaron's movements.

Do you guys have any idea why Jey's mama stop painting?
