How Joyful We Are

【Weekends won't be updated in the following serial period due to being overbusy in real life. — 18/04/2024】 "We did not meet at the peak, we arrived there together." - The tradition at A's First High School's opening ceremony includes selecting a "mystery box", and the chosen student will speak as the representative of the senior class. This year's representative is Meng Yin, whom nobody knows. Clearing her throat, Yin looked at the crowd below and introduced herself, "Hi everyone, I am Meng Yin, a new transfer student from Class 2 of the senior year. My pledge for senior year is to work hard and catch up with Xu Zhiyi. I also hope he continues to strive for excellence and bring glory to our class." At the school, anyone familiar with Xu knows he has a cherished keychain, which mysteriously disappeared after Yin transferred. As Yin realized that "Xu Zhiyi was never her light, but a comrade walking by her side," she also caught a glimpse of his concealment towards her. Tears streamed down her chin, Yin gazed at Zhiyi and said, "Xu Zhiyi, you will die if you like me for a moment!" He knew she misunderstood. Zhiyi closed the distance between them, and pulled her in his arms, stroking her back. At seventeen, he embraced the weeping Yin in such a vulnerable manner and felt the entire world trembling around them. His chin lightly rested on the top of Yin's head as he softly spoke, "I have long been lying at the bottom of your pit." The keychain is you, Wushipai is you, and that wood still belongs to you. The mistake of that summer was without regret in this winter.

Chapter 12.2| DSOTRC

Until half past nine, the DSOTRC barely concluded.

Yin truly experienced the emphasis on students' thoughts and opinions at FHS. She thought that spending three years in such an academic environment was indeed a very happy thing.

On her way back to the classroom to get her bag, Yin looked up at the night sky. There was no moon, but she felt quite pleasure.

"Xu Zhiyi," Yin glanced at the road, unable to resist sharing her emotional joy, "being at FHS is truly a happy thing."

"Yep," Zhiyi replied with a smile in every word.

"Except for the incident last year, there doesn't seem to be any other particularly unhappy things at FHS," Zhiyi referred to the incident involving Xing Xiuze. "There are many happy things, the happiest being two - one is achieving decent results with the team at MUN." MUN, short for Model United Nations, is one of the internationally recognized activities for high school students, simulating UN conferences to understand the diplomatic process, countries' positions and situations, the impact of global events on their future, and their potential roles in the future. In short, it is one of the most prestigious international activities for high school students.

Zhiyi's modest statement of "decent results" was an understatement. MUN first holds national competitions among qualified countries, with the top three teams representing the country at the global MUN held at the UN headquarters. Achieving results in this competition can bluntly be called "global elite talent."

Last year, FHS selected five players led by Xu Zhiyi to compete school-wide. After half a year of challenges, they advanced to the global competition, ultimately winning a silver medal. This event was not only reported by local media in A City but also featured on national television.

When Xu Zhiyi stayed in New York for two months on that summer, Meng Yin was constantly occupied.

Before the end of the semester, she successfully completed the evaluation and assessment of a summer course at a top British institution and shortly after the exams, she travelled to the UK to attend summer classes at a university.

Upon their return to China around the same time, they wasted no time before arranging a hotpot dinner, exchanging gifts in the process. Yin gave Zhiyi a crystal globe, while he presented Yin with badges exchanged with various countries at the Model United Nations.

I hope you shine brightly in every corner of the world. What I embrace is not applause but the passion for what I love, which I wish to share with you.

"What about the other one?" They had reached the classroom door.

Xu Zhiyi switched on the classroom lights, walked to the platform, faced the empty room, and said, "Hello everyone, I am Meng Yin, a new transfer student in Class 2 of Grade 12. My pledge for Grade 12 is to strive hard to catch up with my classmate Xu Zhiyi. I also hope that he will continue to work hard and achieve first place, bringing honour to our class."

A few steps away, Yin stood in astonishment whileZhiyi looked at her and smiled lightly, "This is another thing that brings me great joy."

Before the sports day, they agreed to share the happiest and unhappiest moments with each other. Yin never expected that her arrival at FHS would become one of the happiest moments in his high school life.

"Why is this the case?" Their eyes met, and Yin asked instinctively.

"It was unexpected, and it made me happy."

Back in junior high, there was a target wall at the back of the classroom where everyone posted their high school goals. Both he and Yin independently wrote down the same school, First High School. Honestly, he never considered the possibility of Yin failing the high school entrance exam. In the final stages of junior high, Yin's performance had been steadily improving, and the likelihood of her failing the exam was very low, but that slim chance became a reality. Similarly, he never thought that they would once again fight side by side in the final year.

"Teaching you is quite fulfilling." Xu Zhiyi lowered his gaze and smiled again, this time with a broader curve.

Yin was taken by surprise, feeling a sudden weight on his neck.

She lowered her head to find a gold medal, presented by Xu Zhiyi, extending over a kilometre.

"Comrade," Yin had back to Xu Zhyii at the moment, but could still discern the good mood in his light tone, "Although it's not real gold, at least it's the first gold medal of the final year, I'm giving it to you as a memento."

I have been fortunate and now wish to share some of that luck with you. May you set sail once more, amidst flowers and applause, and reach the destination you desire.

Meng Yin gently touched the gold medal hanging on her chest, feeling the sweat in the palm of her hand.

As the dark clouds dispersed and the scorching sunlight brought new life to the once thorny ground, she noticed the fresh buds blooming.

Turning around, Yin smiled brightly and confidently, speaking with feigned fierceness, "Comrade, I will truly work hard to catch up with you."

"I know," Zhiyi turned off the light and said, "You will."

"Xuzhiyi," Yin caught up with himi, half-jokingly, "I heard Lin Xipei say that you had a cool high school image?"

Xu Zhiyi replied as they walked, "It's okay, just a bit annoyed by the girls giving gifts."

Meng Yin: "..."

Before going to bed, Yin once again shared "Young Battlefield" with her private circle WeChat, keeping all the annotations in her heart.

In this young battlefield, thank you for being such a comrade.

Lin Xipei commented below: "Meng Yin, sweetheart, it's the third time, I think there's a story [dog head.jpg]."
