Ash’s POV

“Sweetie?” Mom called, I hummed and worked through the mock examination in front of me. “Have you heard from Jace lately?” Her voice was low and grave and I knew asking me that made her sad.

My pen halted automatically, I sighed and looked up. I shook my head. She sighed heavily, taking off her cooking mittens and putting it on the kitchen counters. It landed with a thump and I couldn’t take my eyes off of them. It had the same plaid motives like the one Jace used in London, in grandfather’s mansion,

I gulped and averted my eyes from it before my eyes starts to shed some tears.
