It was the winter season in Lord Mayors. And the street was busy that afternoon with carriages and people coming from each direction. The heigh sounds of the horses can be heard. Hitting by the rider in front of the carriage. The town do seem busy that moment. At the corner of the street in a dark spots standing a girl of ten years old. She seem lost, crying in the corner calling for her mother but no one seem to paid any attention to her.

She was walking with her mother holding on to her hand before them departed. The street was crowded, As them are lot of passagers coming in and through.  She couldn't found her mother when she turned. Did her mother adanboned her? Little Elsie was devastated. As her eyes wondering in the crowd looking for her. She crying hopeless in the busy street..

......

"Elsie, we're almost there. Make sure you keeps up. I can't be the last this time" the woman said as her check on her bag to see all she needed was in. She was so much in hurried. A royal featival is coming and she had to get the best dress from the tailor hand before others crowd the spot to get the delicates ones before her. This time she can't missed it! Forgetting she had a little girl walking beside her.

"Hurry up Elsie. The first to get in get the best ones" she said, walking faster without looking back. Hoping the little girl was behind her. But unknown to her she wasn't.

The tailor store was already crowded as usual. Mrs. Brett thought this time she had made it to be the first meanwhile she had just getting started . She sighed tirelessly.

This is frustrating! After she left home so early the place was still crowded by people? She wonder..and dragged on her handkerchief to wipe the draining sweat from her face. Even though there is winter and the weather was extremely cold she still sweat!

She wonder what's type of body she had.

"Elsie, despite the time we left home early to get the best dress for the occasion. This place is still crowded. What a shame!" She exclaimed, hoping to heard a response from the little girl behind her but she heard none.

She turned to looked at her but didn't see her! Where's her daughter! Where have she gone!  She looks frighten and turned around to check if the girl had started her silly games again but no! She isn't truly with her. Where have her daughter gone to. Elsie isn't that type of child that runs off on her. She's always on track and close to her no matter what.

Now, this time is different. The girl she thought was always by her side wasn't any more..she turned to the people standing a straight line to asked if anyone had seen her daughter.  She tried asking and describing how the girl looks like. But no one give her what she wants.

Some had to direct her to a near station for her to name a  complained of her missing daughter. She totally forgotten about the dress that makes her wakes up early to her. All that matters now was her missing daughter! How is she going to explain to her husband that their only child is missing! How?

...................

The girl was crying on the cold corner as no one pays attention to her. She didn't know what to do or how to asked. There're strangers surrounding her and she remembers when her mother warned her about talking to strangers. It might be dangerous for her since she's little. She chose to obeyed her mother words and sit on the cold ground crying out her eyes hoping her mother would come back.

"Hey, why are you crying?" A warm gentle voice asked. Little Elsie lifted up her head and saw a dark complexion boy with lovely blue eyes who was about her age standing in front of her looking dirty.

"Go away you pig!" She yelled at the boy appearance but the boy didn't move an inch!

"You haven't answered my question, why are you crying?" The little boy asked again. He wasn't planning on leaving till the girl tells him why she was crying..

Elsie was told in school that the black are evil people whose want to destroy white life. That they're dangerous animal and are only made for working and nothing more.

That what she believes. The black are evil!

She didn't get while the dirty boy don't want to leave after she had told him to.

"I think you're deaf, go away you stinky thing!" She yells at the top of her voice hoping that would scared the boy to run away from her but none, he was still standing in front of her!

The way he keeps on standing in front of her pissed her off. This black boy was getting on her nerves? She hate it when she speaks and someone play deaf ears to her words. That what exactly this boy was doing and she didn't like it!

"Didn't you understand English?"

"Of course I do, isn't it English I'm speaking to you? If I do not understand English you won't be able to hear me"

"You silly thing!" She mumbled backing her gaze somewhere else. "Did your mother left you alone?" Come immediately question for the boy.

She was slient and scared to answer not believing that her mother leave her alone.

" Never! My mother would never leave me!"

"I know that, I also have a mother too and she would never leave me for anything in the world. That's the reason I want to stay with you till your mother comes back for you" the boy smiply said. That stunned Elsie heart, she wasn't expecting the boy to act nice to her. From all they had been told about black people that they're evil and know nothing good.

But there she was, a black boy caring after her. She didn't want to believe that the black have good heart. She shut her eyes. "They're always evil always evil!" She whispered sliently.

"Evil?" Immediately she opened her eyes.

"Why would you say that?" The boy moves more closer to her. "I understand you white hate us and thought of us as evil people but we're not"

Elsie shift for the boy not to come closer to her. The more she shifted the more the boy draws more closer. "You should stop running I'm not a monster. Here are you hungry?"

He bought out a leaf of a bread from his mini bag looking fresh and clean.  Although, she was starving she refused. Reasons were clear. She didn't know him and had never seen him before, the last he was black!

"You don't have to worry, it fresh and very clean. I just get it from working baking store down the road. I worked there as a cleaners. The owner was very nice to me"

Elsie, who's wasn't buying the words rolls her eyes. There one thing she was certainly sure of. The blacks steal alot!  There nothing he's going to say that would please her.

He tear the bread into two equal haft and gave one to her. "Here you can have this" he stretched forth his hand to her. "I know you're hungry so don't deny it and eat before you starve. You had to have something in before your mother comes back"

"How do I know you didn't steal it from the store and chose to give me from it?"

The boy chuckled to her words. "you see cute, when you're mad. I hope I had a sister like you, I would be very happy"

"Well, thank God you don't!"
