The Lake Beast

Floating around, the boy had spent days floating around in the lake, he had marveled out the beauty of the starts and the moon, admiring the proud sun, looked at the clear lake. Every day the hermit would come by, and every day the same thing would happen, the hermit would clean his kills and then he would collect some water and leave.

Finally a week after he had started floating in the lake, something finally happened.

It was noon and the hermit had just left, this time though something was different. he brought more kills and when he he was done cleaning them he threw the extra carcasses that he brought into the lake. Floating a distance away the boy could see the bodies of the animals that were thrown in. The boy could smell the blood but didn't know what it is and after a few seconds he could see blood coming from the neck of some of the forest animals.

After a couple of the minutes the boy could suddenly feel ripples and vibrations from the water under him. For the first time the boy tried to turn his head all the way around. he succeeded but also flipped over in the water. looking through the clear water. the boy could see what looked like a hole in the bottom of the lake and looking into the hole, it was pitch black.

For minutes the boy felt the ripples and vibrations coming from the whole. for every second that passed the boy's curiosity crew. Finally, something happened. From deep withing the hole the boy could see movement. when he saw the m pool movement, the boys curiosity only grew.

Finally the movement had reached the edge of the shadow made by the edges of the hole. Then, as if it never existed whatever had caused the vibrations and ripples stopped. Our many minutes the boy had stared at the hole never losing focus. in those minutes gradually what looked like an eye started opening.

Finally the eye had opened all the way. Almost as wide as the hole itself the pupil inside the eye finally moved. Focusing in on the bodies of the animals floating in the lake the eye didnt move but the vibrations started again. After a couple seconds, what could be seen and looked like seaweed or a type of see grass rose from the shadow of the hole and moved slowly from the hole to the carcasses of the animals.

The boy following the seaweed looking plants/arms finally moved his head to get a better look. The vibrations had finally attracted the big eye's attention to the boy. Looking at the boy, the eye seemed to have a flash of intelligence and curiosity in its eyes...
