A good day. A bad. A bright day, a gloomy day. That’s how it all balanced. Something we’ve to keep secrets from those we loved the most. Love hurts, love that’s real.

“The sacrifice lamp is the most important and we’ve got it.” The old man that keep on talking said, my eyes were on his face the whole time, he appeared old but his when he talks. He’s like he’s still in his youth. And his gaze was sharp.
“I saw you in my dream,” I said to him, ever since he came in. I’d been staring at him and he was just like the man in my dream. Just like him. And I wanted to tell him that, and I did.
He smiled at me.
“I won’t say it was a dream.”
“It’s you then.”
“It is me.”
“So you’re alive?”
“You thought I was dead.”
“Thought you were a ghost or something.”
“I told you who I was, am the seer. I don’t see the past, I see the future. I’m the last of my clan.”
“So you can see my future? What would happen to me.”
“I already showed you that future, you can decide to change it or not. I don’t know for you, the future is now in your hands.”
“Let’s focus.” Creamy butted in. The annoying jerk. I broke off the eye contact I was having with him.
“Yes Sir,” I answered him with an eye roll. He rolled his eyes back at me. He was getting on my nerves.
“We can’t do anything yet until we find out the reason behind the curse, why were you cursed, why is the moonlight pack cursed? Curious?”
We nodded like some lizards. My parents were there, Mark too was with us in the room. Cartel and Franco even the physician. The only person missing was my father. Why wasn’t he here yet? He should have been here by now. And be by my side. I wanted him here. I was gonna ask Creamy after this if I’d go salmon pack to bring him. I’ll do that.
“Someone’s here to tell us the reason why it all happened, and how it happened.”
All eyes went to the door waiting and watching because the person had to come through the door. But surprisingly nobody came through the door.
“What are you all looking for, the person is here with us.”
“Huh?”
“Where’s he?”
“I’m here.”
What a joke.
We all turned when Cartel stepped forward. The shock was written all over our faces. What does the cartel know?
“..When Creamy talked about the curse at the towel that Zyair was hurt because of it and a lot of others. We knew at first, that the curse was responsible for the death in the pack. I’d to find out everything about us, our history. The moonlight pack.
Way back in century upon century and decades. Every alpha that had led had a record of what happened in the time they ruled. The privilege of being the alpha son. I’d access the room. Where all the records were kept.”
I was too quick to judge, it seems he knows something we don’t.
“About a century ago, something happened in the pack. The alpha made a mistake by sleeping with a slave, who had committed an abominable act, a mistake that shouldn’t have happened. And no one must hear of it. Unfortunately, the slave got pregnant..”
“It wasn’t a mistake.” Mother said, she stood up from where she sat. Removed her hands from her father. Father gaze at her as she stood up.
“He loved her but was too ashamed because she was just a nobody.”
Did mother know?
She knew what happened, why did she keep Shut? Why didn’t she say anything?
Even father was surprised to see her talking, he was lost just like I was. Same as everyone, why did she fool us all?
She knew about the curse. She knew why I was cursed, was that why she couldn’t say anything?
“Mother?” I called faintly.
“I’m the descendants of that slave.”
A gasp escaped my mouth.
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t say anything. I was trying to figure out why, until now that I’ve seen my daughter and witnessed the curse of the red moon. Why she wanted to end the wolf clan.”
“This happened ages ago? How did you know?”
“Everyone was told the story of what happened, everyone in my lineage knew what happened. But we were made to swear an oath never to reveal the truth. Who knew the curse who being born into our lineage? The curse and the cure in one body.”
“I don’t want my daughter to end up living in the curse, hence I’ve broken the oath, to tell the truth behind the curse, it’s a burden I’d been carrying for years now.”
“Mother..”
“..so what happened to her?” Cartel asked.
“The alpha killed her. Even after she ran away from the pack, she was just a weak human and couldn’t stand the strength of an alpha. And she cursed the pack in her blood before she died. It was a full moon that night and it was said the moon goddess heard her cries and the moon was covered in her blood. The moon turned red.”
That was why it was the curse of the red moon?
“Why did he Kill her?”
“To prove his innocence and that he would never stoop so low to a slave, they wanted to kill him because they believed he did sleep with the slave, so to prove that he’d nothing to do with the slave he had to kill her. And everyone rejoiced at her death. Because of that, you would never find a human in a moonlight pack. Not a single one.”
Creamy nodded. That means it was true. Was that why father hid in the forest and never wanted to go to the pack?
“How could he kill someone he loved?”
I asked.
“Because he would lose everything and even his life.”
“That’s why the curse was that I would kill my mate or he would kill me?”
She nodded at me. I palmed my forehead this was all too much to take in.
“I’m sorry.”
“That wasn’t what was stated on the record.” Cartel lifted the book.
“It says here that, she’d been the one who seduces the alpha into laying with her that was why she was killed for doing such a disgraceful thing.”
“If it had happened that way don’t you think we won’t have been affected by the curse, there might not have even been any curse, to begin with.”
Cartel hand fell. She was right.
“So how can we break the curse? We already knew the reason why it happened.” Mark asked. Father didn’t say a word, he simply stare at his mate. He must have been having a lot of thoughts now.
“I think the lamp is all we need. Because there’s life in it already.” The seer took his spot again. Mother was now seated, he was still calm and took her hands back in his again.
What was that?
Shouldn’t he throw a tantrum?
After what he just heard.
“You should get ready for it. Tomorrow night.”
“What would I do?”
“You’ve to die.”
“How?”
He points at the spot where my dagger was kept on my body. I stare back at him, the thought of death was excruciating.
“What would happen if I die.”
“We’ll have to heal you through the lamp of sacrifice.”
“Give me another life?”
“Yes.”
“What about the curse?”
“You deal with it.”
“How?”
“You would know once you die.”
“What if I didn’t wake...”
“You would wake up, I know you will. We’ll be waiting for you. Zyair and all of us. You’ve to make use of this chance that was given to you. Fight it.”
I stare at Creamy as he speaks, he took my hand and gave them a little squeeze.
“And you made a promise to me. You remember telling me you always fulfill your promise.”
I nodded with a chuckle. He was one crazy guy, I’m sure everyone had made the same promise as I have.
Finding his mate.
“I’ll find your mate,” I told him. And we shared a laugh.
I’d never been more than certain that I was gonna win this fight. Whatever it was, I was prepared to face it.
Prepared to fight it.
“It’s it settled down, I’ll prepare the place for tomorrow night. Get ready.”
I slowly nod.
My parents came to me, I stood up and they hugged me. And just like that everyone hugs me in the room.
“I’m sorry, for not telling you.”
“It’s alright Mother. You can talk to father, he’s angrier than I was.”
I was able to sneak away from them, I thought I would hear him raise his voice at her but he didn’t. Kept me wondering what kind of love they shared. Why was he so understanding?
I pulled Creamy aside when he was about to leave the room. This was the time to ask about him.
“Where’s my father?”
“He’s over there, weren’t you?..”
“You know what I’m talking about.”
“Is he still there, if he tells me? So I’ll go meet him and bring him here to meet my parents.”
He didn’t answer me.
“Creamy? What’s wrong.”
“So much has happened.”
“That has got nothing to do with what I asked.”
“I’ll tell you where he is after everything, he’s fine and he’s safe. And rooting for you. So be strong and end this. I’ll take you to meet him myself.”
“You promise?”
“You don’t have to worry about anything. I’ll keep my promise. Just trust me.”
I gave up. Since he was fine then there was no need to worry. Let’s focus on the mission that is about to face and deal with it.
“Let’s break the curse.” I cheered myself with a smile. I don’t know what would happen but I was ready to face it with the confidence that I was gonna win against my own self.
