It was getting noticeably darker, waiting for the night, Keirin and I tried to listen to the sounds that came from the bandit camp.
For all the time not one robber came out in our direction. And this meant that the robber did not deceive us about the fact that the inhabitants of the camp did not see the need to check this field due to the fact that it was littered with various traps.
We heard different echoes of conversations passing inside the camp. But it did not bring understanding of what was happening there.
Because of the traps behind us, it was impossible to return without stepping on them and provoking the inhabitants of the camp.
Hiding behind the grass, we waited until night fell, and only then we would go to the camp itself. I could see Keirin's look, her anxiety, and how she gripped her sword tighter in her hands.
- When we go to the camp, do not be distracted by trying to save someone. - I spoke with a stern voice, pulling Keirin out of my thoughts.
I was almost certain that she would try to save someone in the camp during the battle. I understood that there would be victims, but I had no desire that we become victims. I had hope that she wouldn't risk her life to cover for someone.
- I understand, but Trey, but promise me you'll try to save as many girls as you can. - Keirin turned to me with a tired voice.
Sighing, I nodded to her, while we were sitting here, I was already used to watching Keirin's behavior and her anxiety in her eyes.
- We have already discussed this with you, you and I cannot take care of them during the battle, understand that victims cannot be avoided. - I replied in a tired voice as I watched it get darker.
Our plan was to get as close to the camp as possible and, if possible, get rid of those who were on duty at night.
- Take the dagger. - Keirin turned to me holding out a small dagger, the hilt towards me.
Surprised by her actions, I examined the dagger, the handle was made of dark wood, the steel slightly gleamed in my hand.
Without feeling the weight of the dagger, swinging it was comfortable and light. An idea popped into my head, maybe try to fight with daggers?
Looking at the girl, I saw in her hands one dagger in each hand. But I did not know how to use daggers, except perhaps when I needed to cut my hand.
- Why do we need daggers? - I turned to her lowering the tone of my voice.
Keirin looked at me carefully, expecting my question to be nothing more than a joke. But I wasn't joking, I didn't understand why we need these daggers?
- Tell me, how do you plan to eliminate the robbers who are now on guard without making a fuss? - asked Keirin in her voice could be felt a hint of condescension.
Looking from her to the dagger, I understood what she meant, my plan was to eliminate the robbers with the sword. I didn't think about using daggers, I wondered where she got them from.
- I should know where you got your daggers from? - I asked, looking at her then at the daggers.
Hearing my question, Keirin shrugged her shoulders, maybe she always had them with her.
- Sometimes it's best not to know Trey, don't you think? - Keirin answered me with a wink in a low voice.
Putting aside thoughts of daggers, I began to listen to what was going on in the camp. Outgoing noise from the camp has become less.
But other sounds were added to it, from which, even in complete darkness, Keirin began to blush.
- Let's go, most likely they have changed and try not to make noise. - Keirin turned to me, in her voice I understood that she tried not to listen to what was happening in the camp.
Sighing, and looking around the field and making sure that there are no monsters nearby, we began to slowly approach the bandit camp.
Thanks to our physique and ease of movement, we quietly approached the camp.
Dialogues inside the camp were heard better, they discussed when their leader would return with new pillows.
I did not understand what they meant under the pillows, making our way through the thickets, we found ourselves near one of the robbers.
Thanks to our vision, we saw him well; he stood alone and peered into the forest in front of him.
He was dressed like the rest of the robbers in dirty and torn clothes. On his belt, he had a fun weapon of some kind, only the hilt was seen, he looked like a mere mortal.
He held a torch in his hands and at different rustles he immediately directed the torch in the direction from which they were walking noises.
I did not know how to lure him away from the camp, if the attack now he would raise the alarm. And we wanted to avoid that for as long as possible by looking at Keirin and waiting for ideas from her.
Watching as she takes something out of the vault and throws it in the other direction from the robber.
I stared blankly at Keirin, trying to express my incomprehension with my eyes, she just pressed her fingers to her lips and pointed to the place where she threw something.
After some time, noises began to be heard from the place where Keirin had thrown. Still not understanding, I looked at the robber who apparently also heard the noise.
And I began to slowly walk towards these noises, I became interested in what kind of thing it was, then I would have to ask Keirin where to get them.
Watching as the robber enters the bushes with a torch, raising it up, wanting to see as much as possible, coming closer to the place of the sound.
I shifted my gaze to Keirin, who seemed to be waiting until the rogue had moved a certain distance away.
With quick steps, she began to approach the robber from behind. If now someone was passing by this place, they saw her, approaching the robber who did not expect an attack from the back.
I saw how with a quick movement with one hand she struck the point of the dagger in the throat of the robber, and with the other hand she held the hand in which there was a torch. The robber did not make a sound, dying his body became weak and began to fall forward.
Keirin let go of the body, which fell into the thick grass, which hid the place where the dead robber lay.
Raising my hand urging me to approach her, I had to carefully approach her, fearing that someone from the camp might see me.
Having caught up with her, we went further, most of those on duty were alone and the bushes and darkness helped us.
But when a light or dark elf appeared in front of us, we had to hope that they would not notice us. At some points we were on the verge of discovery.
But we were lucky, making sure that no one had yet noticed the absence of the robbers who were on patrol, we began to approach closer.
- What is our next plan? - Keirin asked me in a whisper.
Being close to the camp, we could hear everything that was happening in it, from the voices I heard the same voices repeating.
And this meant that the rest were either sleeping or were in their tents from which groans were heard.
- We'll create chaos for them, Keirin. - I answered her question in a cold voice.
